Welcome. I totally agree with you on the waiting until hungry and not eating small meals throughout the day. I bought into that for a long time and the result was that I was constantly hungry. emoticon

My husband has always eaten like that. If we have a big dinner, he won't eat until afternoon the next day. The rule that "If you don't eat all day, you'll binge when you finally do eat!" - nope. Haven't noticed that at all.

Wow Buglet, I noticed you mentioned problems with your eye... but didn't know that was the reason. What a horrible thing to have happen. Hope karma comes back around and takes care of that doctor emoticon

Wow Sioned that's awesome!!! Keep up the good work!

This is my first DD and so far so good. Work wasn't nearly as difficult as I expected - I just have to get through tonight when I get home. This is only day 1 for me but I feel like I can do this for the rest of my life.

It's nice to see someone so successful and almost 6 weeks out!

Houmadi, welcome to the team! There is lots of help here and you will get your questions answered if you ask them. I started this about 5.5 weeks ago and have already lost 24 pounds. I too have more energy but the weird thing is that I now have more energy on my fasting days rather than my up days. My current struggle is realizing that my stomach has shrunk and I just can't eat the amounts of food that I used to prior to this way of eating. Believe me, I am not upset that I have to adjust, but I can't remember EVER being on a diet plan where I wasn't obsessing about food and feeling hungry all the time. I also never thought the day would come when I actually look forward to my down days. Anyway, welcome to the group. I always post daily in calorie intake and exercise. Keeps me accountable.

How do post to a thread? I'm sorry I'm very new to this format. It took me an hour to figure out where to post my first message: (

I started the team in 2007 and by Sept 07 had lost 60 lbs. I used JUDDD to maintain for 10 months and then went for cataract surgery and the Dr (had tremors and operated anyway), cut my eye resulting in the loss of sight in that eye. I was depressed and I didn't have my artificial eye until months later. (I felt deformed) Since then I've had court issues and haven't been able to focus on weight loss so I am now 40# up. I'm hoping the court issue will be finished soon. I can't seem to focus seriously. Those are my excuses right now but the real reason is I've used food for comfort and stress relief.
It's a great plan and we have several who made goal using the original JUDDD plan, but then let go of the plan and gained back. That is the problem. I have the incurable fat disease but the good news is that if I take my medicine (calorie restriction), I can reach goal and go into remission, BUT, if I don't take my medicine I will gain it all back. Getting there is only half the battle..
Good luck..
Please use the chat thread so no one will miss your threads.
Thanks, Bug

Thanks Buglet!

How long have you been doing alternate day eating? I think I'm going to really like it.

Welcome to the team!
When you fast it gives your body a chance to heal your cells without diverting energy to processing the food you eat. Combine that with lots of water for flushing the fat out and you'll soon feel better and more energetic. In my life I've found that when I'm dieting I just plain feel better and if I fast too, I have more energy. I definitely found that adding a lot of carbs slows me down and I feel drowsy also. If you normally eat a lot of carbs you don't notice it but if you have been fasting, dieting, and then eat lots of carbs, you become sluggish..

I just stumbled upon Dr. Johnson's book yesterday and was very excited to find it. I've been experimenting with fasting one day a week for almost 2 months now and it feels great. So great that I decided to add an additional fast day to my weekly regimen. It was while doing a google search on fasting that I can across the alternate day diet.

Another thing I've been experimenting with is waiting until I'm truly hungry to eat. I've found that I am not hungry until around 2:00 pm and sometimes not until much later. I'd never bought into the "eat small meals throughout the day" ideology. I've been searching for a healthy way to eat that I can live with for the rest of my life. On DDs I will either completely fast (with the exception of coffee - I rather have an arm cut off than give up my coffee), or drink a green smoothie.

Something that I have observed is the less I eat, the stronger and better I feel. I'm starting tomorrow and I'm so happy to have found this team!
