Thanks Buglet, hopefullly I have changed it now.

Well I managed to stick with JUDD for another DD yesterday and stick just below 500 cals. Even helped nephew to make home made pizza and went food shopping. I must be a masochist. Cant say I found it easy yesterday as I had a strange empty heady feeling, but drank lots of water.

Up doing coursework for job at moment but looking forward to breakfast.

Have a great day

When you enter your weight in Sparks it changes your ticker. On the "start" page it will give you options to enter your food, veggies, water and your weight.

Dear Angie and Buglet

this is third day of diet today being 2nd down day. Will be interesting to see how I get on as nephew coming to stay and sleep so no doubt will be faced with lots of temptation!

I have been overweight now for 2o years at my heaviest 3 years ago was 11st 11lbs, now 10st 5 due to very slowly making lifestyle changes.

Have to work full time so sometimes v tired and effects motivation, eating habits.

I have tried every diet going so I am hoping this one works for me!

Have a good day everybody.

Welcome Angie,
You will like this plan and this team. I'm a lifer on this. It's the only plan that I could maintain on. I started in Jan 07 and thought I could lose my extra 60 lbs in 4-5 months. It took me longer but I did lose it. It all depends on your age, your metabolism, how close you stick to the plan, and we all know we lose at a different rate than someone else does. (at least I do) If you do the 500 today, you'll see a loss tomorrow. Most everyone does, if they didn't, they don't tell me I guess. I am doing a water only day today. These are optional because you can do 500 and lose too but I know you'll read about some of us that do them and I just want you to know they are optional and shouldn't be done if you have medical issues or need to check with your doctor. I find them very useful when my body just won't let me lose those lbs. If you have any questions just ask. I've been using this plan for 2 yrs 9 months so I've seen what works and what doesn't, but most any of us could answer..Welcome, again!

I just joined spark people last week. I tried last year but the will power just wasnt there I guess. Well now I am determined, my daughter and I are trying together to lose weight before our upcoming big family vacation in December. I know that is probably not the right reason for getting healthy but if it helps what the heck..lol
I just read about this UpDayDownDay Diet and am very interested in trying it. I think since today being Monday and I ate a decent 1200 calorie day that I will do a down day tomorrow. So from what I understand as long as I stay under 500 calories I am doing good on a down day, that wont be too hard as most days I struggle to get in the calories I should get. My problem for gaining weight years ago was health issues, a car accident that kept me in a wheelchair for 5 months and then a year of rehab put weight on along with the steroids I was put on.
Now I am wanting to get healthy again and totally determined. I have started excersizing again and found two things I truly enjoy. My gazelle and now doing the Turbo Jam dvds. I live out in the country so to get to a gym is hard.
I look forward to hearing from other memmbers and hope they can keep me on track with encouragement.
I am starting this at 243lbs and would love to eventually get down to 150lbs but I know that could take at least a year, but I am willing to wait that long.

I think you will fit right in with us here on the team. I'm glad to see that you are a poster. To keep our team alive we need lots of posters posting tips and ideas. We're happy you're here. Feel free to jump in on any of the discussions. Some of the threads here are very informative. Dr.'s site gives info, but we have the practical experience. Some of us have been doing it for 1-2 years. Again, welcome emoticon emoticon emoticon

Hi. Most of my weight is a recent acquisition. I was never skinny, just average, then had a gradual gain through middle age, but suddenly a rapid gain last winter.

I started weight watchers but don't like the meetings. On Sparkpeople, I immersed myself in the discussions and didn't start tracking my food. JUDDD is something I want to do, as an alternative.

Welcome! This is great way of eating and a wonderful team. I drink a lot of tea on my down days and on my water fasts. I think Darjeeling has saved my life on several occasions when I was about ready to give up on my fast.

That's a great tool unless you put cream and sugar in it. Also when you are doing a down day (the first is the worst, they get better)and you find yourself starving, a cup of chicken broth takes the edge off. The one I use is Wyler's and is only 5 calories.

Is green tea something that will wake up the 'hunger monster' on water fast days, do you think? I've been drinking that a little today, too, just because it being warm tends to make me feel full.

We're happy to have you. This plan does work. On the up days, just eat until your satisfied. I always stay a little hungry because I tend to graze which leads to too many calories. Think portion sizes and don't eat mindlessly. Avoid the "eat everything in sight 'cause tomorrow I diet" syndrome. Some people lose on higher up days but I have to keep my calories in check. We are all different so just keep posting and reading. You will find what works best for you. We are here to help. I have the Dr's. book so if you have questions, just ask. Eating protein will help satisfy on the down days. Water fasts are great and if you eat NOTHING BUT LOTS OF WATER, the hunger monster stays asleep. Drinking 8-12 or more glasses of water does help and are necessary to weight loss. Don't listen to the voices in your head that are trying to rationalize everything and get you to eat too much. Remember, it's only for one day and you can eat tomorrow. Have fun but remember the ones who lose the most post and read... emoticon

I'm new - 31 year old stay at home Mom of 2 wild little boys. Currently weigh 204 and need to get down to 150-160. I'm 5'10" tall so that gets me back into my size 10 pans which is where I feel I look the best. Very intrigued by this way of eating, have been reading up on it for several days now but haven't posted until now. I've tried other things, but can't stick it out. I never had a weight problem at all until I turned 23, then the pounds starting creeping on year by year, and now here I am. Having kids didn't help my figure either.
I'm hoping I can do this, that I won't give it up like I do with everything else after a month.
I'm a little fearful that on my eating days I'll undo what I've accomplished on my down days, and I despise counting calories. I'll just have to keep it in my head to enjoy myself and not overdo it.

Hello all, I'm new to this team but not new to the Dr. Johnson lifestyle. I've been dieting healthily with SparkPeople for about a month, but over time I've found 1200 calories too restrictive. I want to go back to this style of eating, and see if I can commit to it. I'm at the high end of my "comfort zone" at 149, after having weighed 209 at my highest and 125 at my lowest (I'm 5'7). I'll also be strength training 2-3 times a week and I'm in week 2 of a couch to 5k program. Nice to meet you all!

Hi there! This is my first day! I just found out about this yesterday, this just might be "my fit" I'm starting with a DD since I hate half a bag of movie theater popcorn last night with probably a quarter cup additional butter on it! :D hahaha.. so officially that could probably count as my first UD!

My husband is going to do this with me. It will make feeding him SO much easier! On DD he can just drink a few shakes (he's not totally food obsessed like I am and doesn't really notice when he goes 12 hours without food!). And then on the UD it's going to be easier to feed him also, because I won't have to make something for him, then something different for me. It will reduce temptations on a DD because I'm not feeding him yummy stuff, and the UD will be fun! i LOVE to cook. I know I can make "healthy" "low fat" meals... but cooking is going to be more fun having more freedom.

This is long! But I'm excited to be here :)

Thanks so much for the help. My book is ordered and on the way, but I don't expect to receive it for several days. After seeing the weight losses here, I wondered how you figure the calories.
When I checked on the site, 400 calories was recommended for my down days. Today was my first day, and a down day, and it went well. I bought a shake powder that's 100 calories, and also had plain salad with fat free dressing, and lots and lots of water. I counted every calorie, including the sugar in my coffee, and the total was 395. I have the feeling I won't wake up starved tomorrow, and will try to be mindful of what I eat during the day. I like this plan! emoticon

Thanks,

Droxine

Most of us stick with 500 on the down days and the higher number on the calculator is just used for calculating the down day if you are aiming for 20%,30% or 35%. It is not the amount to eat on the up day. Eat only until satisfied on the up day. For me I give this as an example, if I eat one sandwich and am still wanting more but can make it with slight hunger, I don't eat more. Others may do it differently but satisfied is not full or stuffed. Some people do not get satisfied until stuffed. If you have the book, look on page 251. There are no specified amount of calories on the up day but eat only until satisfied. Eventually you will have to count calories on the up days to continue losing. (page 143). emoticon emoticon

May I ask a question? How often do you check in on the site to see how many calories to allow for up and down days? Thanks,

Hi, I just joined the team and am looking forward to trying this new way of eating. I'm 54 and have been trying to lose the weight I need to, but it's so difficult and slow that I'd like to try something that will get my metabolism moving. I ordered the book and will be reading the threads here to get more information. Thanks,

Droxine

Welcome back!
To get the ticker you have to create your spark page. Go to tools (above), click on start, click on getting started. As you create your page you will find a place to add a ticker down lower on the page you are working on.Let us know if you have problems. That should get you started. You can add as much or as little to your page as you want..

Hi all!

I just signed up on SparkPeople today and found this group. I did JUDDD in Aug/Sept 2007 over a period of 6 weeks to lose the extra baby weight i kept on after having my first. I found it great! But I stopped after I found out I was pregnant with baby no. 2, so it stopped there.

But, now it's nearly 1 year since I had my 2nd baby, and while I'm back down to pre-no.2 baby, I'm still about 10kg more than i'd like to be. I've been thinking about JUDDD since Jan, but I can't seem to get started. Now it seems that the good weather is now here to stay, and i'm motivated again.

Today was my first DD and I hope that I can stick with it. It would be great if i could since I know it works. I'm pretty bad with posting on websites, although I always join with that intention. Hopefully i'll get better, as it seems like a great motivational tool. Meeting others with the same goals seems very encouraging.

So, nice meeting you all!

By the way, how do you get those tickers at the bottom of your posts?

Not to worry, most of us have done DD's two days in a row. emoticon This plan is flexible if you are fair and doing this for that instead of just taking breaks all the time. My theory is if you are good 90-95% of the time you'll do allright. If not, be stricter with yourself. All of us are different, I cannot do what some of you can get away with so I adjust it for me and am stricter with myself.

Weekends are going to be hard for me as well. Our church always has a potluck after liturgy on Sunday plus we get together with friends and family or go away for the weekend so I am not too sure how to handle down days on weekends. I was thinking of having two down days in a row but wasn't sure if it would hurt the calorie cycling effect.

Drinking a large (16 Oz) glass of water before meals and between meals will help. Choosing the best of the bunch would help. Try filling up on mostly veggies. I usually don't diet on special occasions but I try to keep low calories(or a fast)before and after and if possible slip in an extra down day either before or after.

Thanks for the welcome and I know it will be good to be back with your team! emoticon

I don't think my issue is eating too much on my Updays - I think it is just staying with the program consistently.

For instance - I am going away for a weekend vacation to Lake Arrowhead so I KNOW I will not have low days until I return on Monday.

I was thinking I'd offset this by having two low days in a row (today and Thursday) and not eating much during the day on Friday but enjoying my dinner (with emoticon ) and then just enjoying myself Saturday and Sunday as well and getting right back on track on Monday.

I'm hoping this works because as I'm sure you know, life can get in the way of consistently having updays and downdays land just perfect into events and lifestyles!

If you have any strategies for me, I'd appreciate your input! emoticon

Welcome back. If you're gaining on your up day, maybe lowering your calories on up days would help. I know I can't eat whatever I want on the up days. Good luck to you and we're happy to have you back... emoticon emoticon

Joining the team again. emoticon

I was with this team about a year ago when I was just learning the Upday/Downday diet - which worked really good for me at that time.

I got a bit discouraged when I'd go off for a couple days and gain back most if not all of what I'd lost. But I realize now that as long as I do my best to be consistent, the Upday/Downday diet is what has worked best for me overall.

I started at 155.6 on Monday and I'm down to 152.6 and it is only Wednesday morning, so the results are always good - and I don't mind the downdays because I just fill up on veggies and egg beaters. emoticon

I look forward to the team support I've found here in the past! Also look forward to getting lots of tips and making new friends along the way! emoticon emoticon

Hi,I am Diana and I will be 37 in June. I was here once before but left the team and spark when trying to conceive our second child. He is now almost 5 months old so now it is time for me to shed all the weight I gained with him and when I was pregnant with our first child. I never really had a weight problem until my first pregnancy. I also have PCOS which makes weight loss tricky. I tried the spark people way and with my metabolism I fought for every pound. It was frustrating and didn't really work. I have faith this WOE will work for me because it did last time I tried it. It is my second DD and I am so excited about it. I am tired of being embarrassed about how I look. I want to be sexy for my husband again. He says I am beautiful at any size but I don't feel that way. The alternate day diet book has become the most important book to me only second to my Bible!

First of all, Welcome to our team! We are happy to have you and we encourage you to post and read lots. I believe that we are one of the best teams on Spark and we give and get motivation and support here. Here is something I wrote quite awhile back that may help you on your way..
JUDDD in a nutshell:
It is a 500, or less, calorie down day and eat until you're satisfied up day. You do not have to eat a lot on your up day. If you stick to the down day at 500 or less, I guarantee a loss of 1-6 lbs the morning after your down day. Then eat moderately on the up day. Some people join JUDDD because they think it's a license to eat all they want on the up day and some do get away with it for awhile but eventually you will have to tame those up days to continue losing.
Dr. Johnson wants us to do shakes on the down days for two weeks to be sure we aren't under estimating how many calories we are eating on our down days. If you do that I would recommend EAS Advant Edge Carb Control shakes. (at Walmart down by the body building stuff) They are only 110 calories and 17 grams of protein and the protein will help you survive the DD. The down days get easier with time and you will soon look forward to them after too many up day calories. Some people do not like to do the shakes but would rather eat food. My advice here is to make your calories count by eating protein and be sure to measure everything. It is very important to drink 8-10 glasses of water not because it's the thing to do but because it helps the diet to work. Some find it easier to wait as long as you can on a DD to eat something. If you do the EAS shakes you can have 3 of the shakes and a couple servings of plain cooked broccoli, no butter just seasonings. Or 4 shakes. Cucumbers and celery are also great to munch on. If you prefer food, a sample down day diet would be an EAS shake for breakfast and 4 oz's of skinless breast of chicken for 120 calories and 2 cups of lettuce with lemon or just seasoning for 13 calories. Some find Walden Farms have lots of no calorie, no carb dressings and other products too. The cheapest place to get them is at Netrition.com. I find it cheaper even with shipping than my grocery store. Then at dinner more chicken and salad. If you have enough calories, add more broccoli plain. Another great tool is hot tea and chicken broth to tide you over in a hunger attack. Another DD menu would be .5 cup egg beaters for breakfast 60 calories, 1 piece of bacon 69 calories,or 45 calorie slice of toast with a cup of green tea For lunch, salad 13 calories with 2 oz breast of chicken, 60 calories, low carb tortilla (50 calories) then dinner, one pouch of tuna or salmon, about 90 calories with a low carb tortilla (50calories) for a total of under 500 calories. So you can see that it is possible to do way under 500. Don't forget if you have hunger drink a cup of chicken broth.
Now for the mindset:
First and foremost, I can eat tomorrow. If I tough it out and keep it under 500, I will see a loss tomorrow. I can do this, it's only for one day. If I follow this faithfully I'll reach my goal. It gets easier as you figure out what food are in the down day range that you like. I'm only dieting half the time. After the two weeks are over you continue the same. It's only the shakes for two weeks, if you chose food during the two weeks then you just keep on doing the same.

I hope this helps. I have the book and so I've looked up most questions you might have.

I am 55 yrs old and having such difficulty with weight really for the first time in my life, since reaching menopause. I have always been able to shed the extra pounds if I put my mind and body to it. Things have really changed for me in many ways but the weight is the most distressing symptom. I have been on Spark people for about 1 month. Absolutely religious about cal and exercise. First dropped 4.5 lbs then today its all back plus .5 lbs. Can't tell you how mortified I am. Feel like a complete freak!! My husband and I walked 7 miles on Sat! Stumbled on your team this AM, & considering now. I know about ups and downs but this just seems impossible. I am soooo discouraged. How do I get started?

Hi! My name is Dawn, and I am 35. I have three small boys, the eldest in first grade. We are homeschooling for the time being. I have successfully lost weight in the past, only to gain it back (and more) during each pregnancy.

I am currently around my prepregnancy weight, but looking to get back to high school weight or better! I was at a healthy weight in high school, but just barely. My ultimate goal is to get 10 pounds or so below that.

This alternate day dieting intrigues me, but I need to overcome some emotional issues before I can really get on board. I'm a big emotional eater, and am really hoping that taking *most* of the food away every other day will really help me change my coping mechanism.

Today is my first down day! Pray for me / wish me luck, whatever is your thing! thanks!

Dawn

Hi everyone. I am new to the team, I find that since I work at home and eat way too much and sit too much. Having a down day and an up day may be the answer, and I joined the 30 min of exercise goal.
I need to do something new!
Glad I found this, I used to when younger, often go on days where I was more active and needed to eat less to be more active, the full stomach is a deterrent to exercise in my book!
I am 49 and could look a lot better , the pic on my profile was last fall and I have gained even since then. I look at photos taken lately and one from the side has a double chin that is awful to see,
I need to do something!

Hello,
Jodi here. Probably same story as everyone, tried everthing, but honestly, this WOE works! My husband and I started it last Friday and we have already seen some impressive results. We are so amazed and find it a blessing. I am happy to find people who are going through the same thing! Looking forward to challenges and whatever else there is to participate in!
Take care, have a great night!

Thanks all. I actually picked up some and will be taking Resveratrol supp's. They are a brand from France w/ mostly organic ingredients that i picked up at Vitamin shop. I take vitamins that help my allergies as well, and im thinking of taking calcium supp's b/c my wrists started hurting a bit like when i used to do extreme low carbing...

Did anyone here of the QOD diet? Same principle and all. They suggest eating 500 cals also on DD's, but making sure 200 of them are high quality protein. I think thats a good tip.

Beware of that website. It may be fine,I don't know if they are the same or not but I tried a free offer and paid $4.95 shipping. Hidden in the terms and conditions it reveals that you will be enrolled in an auto ship program. Turns out the bottle cost me $87.50 and I could not tell any difference taking it or not. Dr. Johnson sells it on his site and while I didn't really examine his terms, I think it is $39.95 for a months supply. I would sooner trust him than any site offering a free trial.

emoticon NIC4! Yeah, I'm not much into taking supplements or dietaids, but I actually happened to see it at Sam's. I don't know if it was the "right" kind of resveratrol, but here is an interesting link to a place that has some info on that:

You can get it from Dr. Johnson's site, the closest to it that I've found is the one at Walmart with the wine/grapes. Most of us haven't taken it and still succeeded but you can get it on his site:

Hello all- Im very interested in this WOE! I was feeling blue today and this was just what i needed. I have tried many WOE (low carb generally is best for me) but i want to give this a shot. Before my wedding almost 5 years ago, i did a "no dinner" diet combined w/ low carb and working out, and got into the 120s and was nice and slim, but also felt sooo healthy, i think due to the days i didnt eat much. This reminds me of that time. Im in! I am starting on a Fast day (today). I actually like shakes, (high protein slim fast powder is my favorite combined w/ part milk, part almond milk and part water), so i think I will enjoy this. I started my day today w/ a piece of toast w/ butter and honey..

Question: I wonder if i can pick up resveratrol (sp) supp's at my local HFS.. does anyone know?

I look forward to posting here and getting to know everyone, helping eachother and to getting healthy and thin!! Bikini season here I come! (its been 5 years since i have worn a bikini which is sad- so i would LOVE to get into one again while im still in my 20's.)

Train yourself to let go of the things you fear to lose. ~George Lucas

I will let go of being afraid to lose weight, forgive myself daily, and allow my inner and outer beauty to shine.

*peeks in* I've been here before... last summer, but stepped away from it and now I regret it. Heh I did so well with it last summer! Now I know for sure I need to stick to it, plus I loved the support. *bops self for leaving*

Anyway... as an introduction... not a whole lot has changed, except that I'm making the big decision to take a break from school and than transfer in a year or so. However, I think the lack of stress from that will help me in the long run. :)

Hi! I am new here and I am so glad to have found this team! I think that JUDDD is just what I need to loose my last 20 lbs. I have lost 50 lbs over the past 3 years - slow going in part due to hypothyroid.
Today may be my first DD i haven't eaten yet emoticon If not I think it will be on Monday.

Thanks for all the friendly welcomes - and to Bugs for the rose.
My experience with up days is that if I've really stayed within my down day limit, I really don't have much of an appetite on the up day -- not even for all the foods I was craving during my down day, LOL. If I go much above limit on the down day, I DO have quite an appetite on the up day and am prone to really overdo it. (I suspect that the appetite suppression when I've been "good" is due to mild ketosis.)

Welcome Nicole, Stefanie!

GREAT that you are doing it on your own so far! GLAD you're here, though...these people can help you so much further in your journey, just with the support alone! As far as the UP days... I really don't know what the official calculation is, but I'm going off what Sparkpeople's startup said I needed to eat for my normal daily activity level/weight in order to lose 2 to 2.5 pounds a week as my Up Day... I don't know how that figures into what ADD/JUDDD says in the book but that is what's "working" for me right now.

Glad you're posting! emoticon

I don't know where you read that you have to eat all those calories on an up day but on page 251 in the Dr's book he says to only eat until satisfied, not full, just until you could still eat more but what you've eaten will tide you over. On page 244 of his book he says that the higher number on the calculator is only to determine how many calories to eat on the down day. Do not force yourself to eat that much, you will lose more by eating only until satisfied. It allows your stomach to return to the proper size instead of being stretched out.
BTW:
Welcome to the team. I missed this thread I guess..If you have more questions just ask, we're here to help and support you. emoticon

I have to tell you that you are not the first to think you have to eat the high calories, it's a common error... emoticon emoticon emoticon

Hello All -
I discovered the ADD when I was browsing teams early January. Sounded intriguing, ordered the book from Amazon, and started in. It's working for me -- and I've been stuck &/or regaining for awhile now -- so thanks SO much for this team and the info you all have shared. I have learned that tracking, especially on my down days, makes all the difference for me. It's just way too easy to rationalize a "few" more calories, otherwise.

I'm not much of a frequent poster or blogger, but I do want to acknowledge my diet kinship with you all, and to wish us all health & loss (of weight...). I will do my best to keep in touch, even if it's just to huddle.

Stefanie

Hi Team! I'm Nicole

I'm ending my first week and have already survived 4 DD including one on the weekend, so I know this is the program for me. I do need some advise/help:

I've noticed that on my UD it's hard for me to consume so much food - even to keep up with 1500 calories. I eat something, and I'm instantly full. I read the info about the plan and it says to always meet the UP calorie intake - for me thats over 2000 calories and I really can't consume that much without feeling full and miserable. Any tips? Ideas? Is this happening to anyone else?

Welcome Julie. I'm so glad that ChilePalm was able to lead you over here. You've done a great job in maintaining your lost weight, but I think that it's smart of you to try to join in in order to ensure that you don't let those pounds creep back on. I definitely need to get closer to a raw diet as I definitely have too many carbs (bread, pizza, etc...). However, for the first time in my life I've had steamed brown rice this week rather than white rice. It's not bad. Bob

My name is Julie/dunlin and I'm here to share and drop the 15 pounds I've gained over the last 8 months. I spent over a year on raw food and lost over 65 pounds in 2006-2007.

ChilePalm is a friend of mine from my raw days and has encouraged me to get myself over here!

I still incorporate lots of fruit and produce into my diet and don't eat meat or poultry. Beans, soups and whole grains like teff, millet, brown rice and barley are the other major part of my food plan. Right now there's no dairy and very little seafood. I always need to keep it simple! The less options, the better off I am!

My head is finally where it needs to be again and today is my first fast and I'm enjoying the water!

My goal is to have the 15 pounds gone by mid-May and I think that's very realistic. The weather going to be better and I can walk and walk and walk!

Much of my time is caught up with the cat rescue non-profit I run plus my husband and I operate our own property management business together.

We live in an old house in the historic district of Wilmington, NC which is on the coast between the Cape Fear River and the Atlantic Ocean. It's a great place and we love it here!

I'm glad to be here and happy to be part of this group!

Welcome Tricia. As ChilePalm mentioned, there are multiple facets of a successful weight loss program and absolutely can't do better elsewhere than the support that you get at this message board. Mary Jo, I hadn't heard "Onward and Downward" before, I like that.

Me, too... I think of my program as a 3-legged stool... the WOE, the exercise, and the accountability/support system. If any one leg is missing, I'll fall flat! Not to mention I've proved that to myself multiple times.

I am very blessed, I get to work on my computer out of a home office ~for now~ 75% of the time. So I can pop on and off Spark most the time, unless there is some big rush on a contract or something... so THAT has helped a lot this time.

Hi Chilepalm, thanks for the words of encouragement! I have been kinda hanging out reading the boards for the last few days and I know what you mean about BUG. It's so nice that she keeps the teams active and is so helpful! I'm going to try my best to keep posting regualarly because I've found that definitely keeps me on track. Plus it will give me something to do when trying to get through fasts!

It wasn't a long intro! It is nice to know about each other so we can better support each other.

BUG knows the ropes best around here...she is FULL of WOW! (words of wisdom!) and she walks the walk...took off over 60 pounds two years ago, I think? and has kept it off with this way of eating...

Hello Everyone! My name is Tricia and I have struggled with my weight since I was in grade school. I have been successful and lost 50-60lbs two times in my life but it always seems to come back! I am now 25, done with school, working full time as an accountant and hopefully getting married to my wonderful boyfriend sometime in the near future so what better time to commit to a diet that will really work for me! I have been a member at Spark since early 2007 but I set up a new account for this new diet to just get a fresh start. I stumbled across this team when looking for some solution to the constant starting and falling off diets I have been doing since last August (which has actually made me GAIN 15lbs).

I did my first fast yesterday. I used the shakes and actually only had 3 of them (so 330 cals). Other than that, just water. I can't believe I did it and I really can't believe it wasn't that bad! I thought I'd be way more hungry. I'm really excited that this is going to work for me and I'm finally going to get this weight off. Sorry for the long intro! Hope everyone has a great day.

Tricia

Hi Bug! You are the first person to respond to me when I joined back in January. Nice to be a part of another one of your Teams! I'm very interested in what this Alternate-Day Diet is all about, so I will be following many of the threads.

Is there a book that you would recommend for me to buy on this subject?

Hi Becky,
It's nice to see you here. There are great tips to be had by reading the thread about beginners to JUDDD. If you have any questions, ask away. The California team is more of a social team than a weight loss team. I'm retired too.
