Welcome to the team!! I would add some exercise if you are able and avoid processed foods as much as possible.

Welcome..... Plain old fashioned eating... Fruits, veggies, everything in moderation. 30 mins of moderate exercise or just walk.... Lost 35 lbs from May - Dec 2012... Just found out that my daughter will be married in May of this year so I'm working on the next 15 lbs... I do eat ice cream, cake and candy but in moderation..... I have diabetes and I control it with diet and exercise... Just went for lab work this morning... It can be done.. emoticon

Focus on the positive changes you've made in your life, from new, healthier foods to a new way of thinking about exercise. I haven't decided on any particular diet plan yet. Not sure what works with my resistance and high blood pressure.

emoticon to the team! So what kind of plan are you following (kinda helps to know this when it comes to suggestions)? Reality is we hit a certain age and we definitely become more resistant when it comes to weight loss. Not impossible of course but it does take some buckling down and stick-to-it-ness!

Welcome! Good luck on your program. You might consider that the very taste of sweet can cause more cravings and even the release of insulin, so perhaps tapering off of everything sweet could be helpful if you can do it.

HI, and welcome! We have a lot in common. I have 3 grown children and 6 grandchildren and 2 on the way in 2013. I lost weight 1.5 years ago for my son's wedding, because I did not want to look fat in the wedding pictures. I lost about 30 lbs, using basically Atkins, and it worked. But, i gained part of it back. i'm back on now to lose weight for some things this summer, and i need to make this a lifestyle. I'm eating very low carbs, no wheat, bread, potatoes, rice, crackers, etc. and when i stick to it, it works. You are on a good board to ask questions, get ideas, and support. Ask questions about anything - and you will get support here. Good luck! Having the wedding for incentive helps!!

Hi, I just joined your group. I have 3 children all grown and 8 grandchildren. My oldest son is getting married and I need to drop 70 pounds. I have been diagnosed with insulin resistance and now take metformin. I haven't drank alcohol since getting on this medicine but yet the weight is just hanging there. I don't eat sugar products just use Splenda. Any advice will be nice. Thanks and I hope you have a great day. emoticon
