Sooooooooooooo true. There is no "Getting this over with". Exercise and a healthy diet have to be forever if you want lasting benefits.

emoticon to the team! I think most of us struggle with consistency and that's why it's so important to focus on making lifestyle changes rather than rush to the 'finish line' with a diet, only to discover it was a 'bus stop' rather than the 'end of the line' - I really enjoy hiking so I find it a lot easier to be consistent with my hiking commitments and doing things that will make hiking easier, faster, better or whatever also appeal to me and are easier to do. If I try to 'make' myself do some exercise that I don't like, it doesn't last very long. When I try to exercise in 'big bursts,' I also find I get sore, tired and that kills the motivation, too. Hang in there -

I have to space my exercise out. Can't do it in one chunk.

I try to do my exercising at the same time each day. That way I know between 10 and 11 in the morning is exercise time, whether it be outside walking or treadmill or bike in the house... If I get past that time, I have this mentality "it's too late" - or some excuse it seems! And then it's done and over with and the rest of my day is free.

Welcome to the team! Your goals sound perfect. Celebrate each success! I had the same exercise issues until a friend of mine convinced me to schedule exercise on the calendar like I would an appointment. Worked like a charm.

Best wishes to you. I know you can do this. carol

emoticon to the team! Mini goals are great incentives! Sounds like you have a solid plan (get that exercise in!). emoticon

I have about 95 lbs to lose to reach my goal but am working on 5 lbs at a time. It sounds like losing 5 lbs is a lot more manageable than saying I need to lose 95 lbs. I lose weight very slowly and I yo-yo a lot, but I really want this weight off.
I've tried a number of different plans but I think for me it's a matter of cutting calories but making the most of what calories I do allow myself. So I'm trying to eat more fresh produce and fruits, and limiting all the junk foods. I do eat meat but am working to cut out a good portion of that and limit it to mainly fish and chicken.
My exercise is sporatic at the best. I'll go days and not do much then for a week or two go crazy with activities that are considered exercise. I need to get more into a regular routine of daily exercise that I enjoy doing.
