Welcome to the team!! I agree that South Beach sounds like a good fit for someone like you. It is healthy fats and good carbs but not real low carb like Atkins.

Welcome to the team Connie! I'm a diabetic that is a smart carber too. A calorie and carb counter, I do watch my fats, but I substitute olive oil, almond oil and other omega fats and I normally eat more fats than are recommended. Works for me. I am back to my high school weight - thought it was impossible! You can do it too!! Carol

Hi Connie! Nice to have you here! I think you'll find it very hard to do a diet that is low in calories, carbs AND fat. Most people that I know who do really low carb replace the carbs with some good fats, by which I mean coconut or olive oil, butter and the fat on organic and especially grass-fed meats. South Beach limits the fats in dairy, so you might want a plan something like that. Let us know what you do and how it's working for you! congrats on the grandbabies!

to the team - sounds like you have a good plan going for you so I wish you the best. I find it's easiest to make SMALL changes rather than trying to change everything at once - for some reason, it's a lot easier to stick with baby steps than an 'all or nothing' change, at least for me. So blend in your new lifestyle slowly to make it stick!

Hi I wanted to introduce myself. My name is Connie and I am from Nevada, I have five kids ranging from 15 to 21, some are step some are my own. I am going to be a grandma for the first time in October, my step son and his gf are expecting a boy on the 2nd, and my step daughter and her bf are expecting a girl on the 17th. I have about 70 to 130 lbs to lose. I have to lose 70 lbs to have my hysterectomy done, but I want to get to 130. I just recently went off of the Alli diet meds and switched to Phentermine, so far so good no serious side effects. I am hoping with a low cal, low fat, low carb meal plan the pounds will start to drop.
