I feel a lot better when I avoid wheat.

I just got an idea. I can use my Microsoft Works calendar to plan meals or an excel document. I think I may try the calendar first. emoticon

Today is much better with the tooth. I even ate peanuts with my lunch. I don't know too much about going gluten free since I have never tried it before. I think that it would be extremely good for my fibromyalgia to try it. There are plenty of healthy grains to eat besides wheat. Though, I know that things like beans and hummus would be great to mix in my diet. I used to make homemade hummus when I lived in Vermont and it was pretty good. Though, now I would do the weighing and the measuring that would fit into my meal planning. Thing is I am not so super good at the planning. I usually do a day ahead and then when I forget to do it...not a good idea! Anyway, thank you ladies!

So true - low-carb doesn't mean you have to endure torture (tooth extractions)! You're "allowed" to deviate when circumstances require! Soft PB-n-J after dental work is perfectly understandable. I hope you're feeling better.

Fruit is a favorite of mine, too! In fact .. now that you mention it .... I think I'll go get some of my frozen grapes right now! LOL

Oh - and gluten-free is definitely a wise choice. Let me encourage you whatever way I can to follow that notion!

I understand completely. I usually eat soft stuff after a tooth extraction. And most of us realize that there will be times we need to eat off plan and this is one.

After my tooth extraction I had comfort food. Two peanut butter and jam sandwiches. No more of that. I am considering going gluten free. Outside of that, I am doing fairly well. Thanks, Morticia.

It sounds like you are on the right track. I consider protein, veggies, and fruit the basis of a healthy diet. Plus some healthy fats. Some nuts and seeds. Some dairy and legumes if your plan allows. Getting rid of junky carbs like cake, candy, cookies, pie will go a long way to achieving your goals.

emoticon to the team! Choosing to get your carbs from fruits and vegetables (the less starchy variety/lower glycemic) is a good start. emoticon

We love to help others with a low-carb lifestyle! There's lots of experience and good suggestions on these boards. There are several forums. You should check them all - each one has a slightly different "twist", but they're all similar.

The fewer carbs you eat, the better you're going to feel, the healthier you'll be, and it's a real boon to those wanting to lose weight. Once you get started, it's the easiest most natural thing in the world. You won't have cravings, you won't feel deprived, you'll be eating wonderful, tasty, healthful foods ... it's an amazing thing!

So far as the natural foods - I know I do, at least. I try to buy local and pastured products any time I can. I love to support that effort, and it's the healthiest choice you can make!

I hope you'll feel free to ask any and everything. Questions educate the answerer as well as the questioner! We learn from each other.

Welcome!

I am intrigued by healthy carbs. I am trying to go more to protein and healthy vegetables and fruits. But, I know that I can choose better carbs but I am not sure what or how. I have tried a bit on my own and then I saw this team on a friend's spark page and thought this is a good place for me to learn more and meet people with the same goals. I am trying really hard to advance my nutrition. I want to go more into whole foods and continuing in finding healthier choices. I hope maybe I can learn something here. Thank you.
