I don't know why it works but another sparker told me to try it and it works for me. I think maybe you end up with new cookies you need. You might save it and try it next time. After you do it a few times it becomes second nature.

sparkpeople has some site issues. I've found that most of them can be cleared up for many users by going to Tools and clicking on Clear Recent History and clicking on clearing cookies and cache and clean now.

Oh, I know. I left sp a couple times completely due to computer issues. That's why the name changes.

I'm not sure if you know but you can edit you sparkpage so that you don't have to change your name or start over every time that you change your goals. My advice to you is to stick with it and not give up or move from diet to diet all the time. Motivation comes from within. Only you can give someone the authority to derail you diet. Only you can make this work. Good luck!!

Rejoined under new user name. I was FLA-1956. My intro the first time was: My name is Vicki and I have about 100 lbs to lose, which I'm hoping to lose over the next 2 years. I'm doing a low carb plan cause I know it works. I lost 105 lbs back in the 80's and kept it off for over 18 years. It was only until I hit menopause that I regained all the weight. Now that I'm thru the menopause and my body has settled down somewhat I feel it's time to really push to get the weight back off.
Thanks for having me on the team.

Since leaving sp, then coming back I've made some adjustments. I still want to lose the 100 lbs but for now am working on about 25 lbs of it. I think I'll work towards mini goals to reach the ultimate goal. I have no idea if I can manage it in 2 years time or not. The main thing is getting it down steadily. I found out recently I have rheumatoid arthritis, and inflammation of my spine and joints along my hips and thighs. I'm also enemic. I'm taking vitamins to help with the anemia but the other I'm working towards taking care of by losing the weight and getting in a lot more exercise daily than I have been doing. Some days I can walk for 30 minutes and some days for 3 hours. It depends on the pain level I'm having at the time. I used to be much more active than I am now. I tend to be lazy when it comes to exericise. But I know once I get started I'll feel better. Anyway, I'm really hoping this team and a few others can help me stay focused and motivated to keep on track. My hubby can throw a wrench into things at the drop of a hat and it makes me just feel like "what's the use". So I'm counting on my fellow sparkers to help me.

Don't allow your husband to spoil your efforts. He can eat whatever he wants to and you have the same privilege. I don't buy anything that I can't eat. If my husband and son want something I don't want to be around I tell them to eat it away from home.

Thanks. Sometimes it's hard as hubby tends to try to push foods at me I don't need even if I might want them. He knows my weakness for certain foods so I have to really push to keep those foods out of the house.

Hi Vickie and welcome to the team! I can tell by what you've said that you are so determined to get the weight off and that's one of the main keys that will make it work! It's so easy to track everything we eat and that really helps me too. with knowing how many calories I'm eating all along the day. Good luck to you! emoticon

I'm starting my ticker over with going low carb.

I think the biggest obsticle I have is knowing my hubby doesn't care if I lose the weight or not as long as I'm fairly healthy. Back in the 80's I didn't have someone pushing me to snack with them in the evenings, or saying things to make me feel guilty for trying to put my nutritional needs first for once. Yes, I want this weight off badly. In 2005 I was 142 lbs. I can't believe I "let" myself get this big just because I went into full menopause. It's time to reclaim ME.

Welcome back! I know all about yo-yoing. I do it all the time. I agree that you need to find a plan and stick with it. That's not to say that you won't have days that you can't stay on track because we all have those days. Good luck!

Welcome back.

Many of our members have the same problems and are quite successful. Low carb is perfect for overweight, pre-menopausal and menopausal women as well as those with PCOS, pre-diabetes, diabetes, hypoglycemia, metabolic syndrome, etc.

My advice is to pick a formal plan like South Beach, Atkins, Protein Power, Paleo, etc. Read about it, prepare your kitchen, and plan ahead. Don't obsess with weighing - just stay on plan. Results will happen. If you get off plan, get back on as soon as possible.

I feel that motivation has to come from within. Not everyone is ready to lose weight and if you aren't it's a waste of time to go on a diet. Do you really want to lose weight, Vicki? If you do you are going to have to pick a plan, make a commitment, and stay with it. If you lost 105 pounds years ago you know what to do but are you ready to do it yet? Only you can answer that. Good luck!

Hi, I'm Vicki. I live in Titusville, Fl. I'm 55 years old and 100 lbs over weight. I've been trying for over a year to get my weight down and all I've done is yo-yo back and forth. So I've started a low carb plan like I did back in the 80's ( I lost 105 lbs in 13 months and kept it off for 18 years), and I'm hoping to get the weight back off over the course of the next 2 years. I'm not nearly as active as I used to be so I know the weight won't come off as fast as it did back then. Plus I've gone into full menopause so my body tends to have a mind of it's own. I lose motivation easily so I'm hoping the team will help keep me motivated to stay on track. Thanks for having me.
