Many of our members have the same problems and are quite successful. Low carb is perfect for overweight, pre-menopausal and menopausal women as well as those with PCOS, pre-diabetes, diabetes, hypoglycemia, metabolic syndrome, etc.
My advice is to pick a formal plan like South Beach, Atkins, Protein Power, Paleo, etc. Read about it, prepare your kitchen, and plan ahead. Don't obsess with weighing - just stay on plan. Results will happen. If you get off plan, get back on as soon as possible.
I feel that motivation has to come from within. Not everyone is ready to lose weight and if you aren't it's a waste of time to go on a diet. Do you really want to lose weight, Vicki? If you do you are going to have to pick a plan, make a commitment, and stay with it. If you lost 105 pounds years ago you know what to do but are you ready to do it yet? Only you can answer that. Good luck!
