I take AirHealth which is generic Wal-mart Airborne if I think I am getting sick. It works for us.

The headache is a frequent symptom in the early stages and part of a group of symptoms referred to as the low carb flu, which includes the lack of energy. Drink plenty of fluids and eat your beans if they are on your plan and it will go away in a couple of days.

Since going on this diet I am actually sick a lot less.

Weighed myself this am and down a lb! Does anyone find in P1 that they have a bit of a headache -- Is that similar to a caffein withdrawal but this is carb withdrawal? I've been doing quite well so far - never hungry but do feel a lack of energy. Haven't felt like exercising except for my dog walks. Is this also normal?

Hopefully after this P1 stage, I'll get used to it and increase my total energy. I'm also worried about getting sick.

I was with my grandkids today and there always seems to be 'something' going around their house. They go to school and come home with something else!! I don't want to be sick but who does!! lol!

I am a daily weigher but I don't freak unless its more than a 3 pound gain. Our bodies fluctuate easily three pounds and when I was losing all my weight, I ALWAYS gained before the scale would drop.

I don't rely on the food tracker parameters like others do. I keep my calories in the range you are using. Your carb level automatically reduces in phase one when you eat the 4.5 cups low glycemic veggies, beans, nuts, and low fat dairy allowed and cut out the other carbs not allowed. South Beach does not set carb levels.

Awesome, I'll gladly accept. I have always heard that you shouldn't weigh every day since your weight will fluctuate during the day. I don't have a place to put my scales so they can be out all the time. I'm not sure how much moving them effects the out come, like not getting them in the same place before I weigh.

I'm excited to have a buddy here emoticon

Mary Beth, I do, probably shouldnt but it doesn't seem to hurt me. I go alot with how my clothes fit. I'm probably gonna weigh everyday since starting SB as I'm curious about how it will work.
Gonna friend you so can support each other. Good luck!

Good Morning Arlene.

I'm new to South Beach, still trying to figure it out. I was wondering, you said you are down a pound, do you weigh every day?

Thanks
Mary Beth

Morning -- I've been on SP since February 2011 and have lost ~36 lbs - but have been in a stall for months. Exercising, eating right, but nothing.

I lost on Atkins about 8 years ago for my dd's wedding, then gained it all back -plus. But Atkins is a bit too much for me at this point in my life. I am considered pre-diabetic but the weight loss has helped with that. In normal range most mornings, even tho I would like it to be lower! I'm due in January to get new blood work done so hopefully, A1C and fasting will be much better. Also have some heart issues (LV hypertrophy and a small aortic aneurysm which will be checked in March. On a beta blocker for the hypertrophy issue and drugs for cholesterol which I would like to get off of.

Since Monday 11/14 have been doing SB and so far down about a lb. Yea!!!!

I'm a bit confused on the food tracker now. Do I maintain my calorie level (mine is currently 1200-1550) and just reduce the carb allotment to ______????? (how much?)

I welcome all advice and all friend adds. Obviously, I need support. I'm going to join South Beach Diet team also for specific help.

Thanks all ahead of time. I look forward to learning more about this.

Arlene
