lost 3/4 of a lb .. about what I want to lose daily.. I have been as low as 226 so far.. can't wait to get to 225.. and this WOE is leaving me still feeling good.. no hunger, or cravings either.. so far it's going well.

Amazed that I can have 12 servings of fruit veggies.. and still be low carb.. just the right fruits and veggies I guess

Good job Russell, keep up the goodwork.

As a diabetic, know what you are going through. The fact is you are controling your diabetes and not letting your diabetes control you. If you are not planning to check your blood sugars at least once a day, do it randaomly through the week. That way you will reinforce, that you are controling your diabetes. Diabetes does not go away, it is always with us and as we age, surprising changes pop into our lives.

Good luck, keep working on that weight, this is big factor in diabetes.

Good job on yer first day of usin the tools, they so help...and, if you are loosin too fast...I dunno.....is your calories in v/s calories out too outta balance?

I am sooo hoping my type 2 lowers its ugly head as I lose....its parta my hopes any way, hahah.....

I am using the trackers, done with first full day.. 78 net carbs.. I am hoping that I only lose a lb or so. I want to lose, but it's hard to work when I am losing 3-4 lbs a day.

I feel I am one of those people Dr. Atkins mentioned when he said if you are losing so well, why are you overweight to begin with. I am at 233.. and have lost 128 lbs already, with or without low carb. Mostly out of fear of dying. I have CHF. I am mostly searching for a diet I can stick with. I am no longer diabetic which I attribute to lower carb eating, and think I could stick with a moderate carb diet.

I've moderated the carb intake as well, am finding it easier for me to live with. Atkins was too strict for me.

A warm welcome to our group. You will love the people here. Ladywolf, I didn't realize there was a diabetic tracker. Gotta get to that. I also just started tracking again, and the system is so much better than it use to be. I'm impressed.

Welcome, as posted prior each diet must belong to an individual, hope what you have decided on works great for you.

I tried following Dr. Bersteins low carb. diet while I was with the Tudiabetes group. His is based on 30 Carbs. per day. I did fine for 6 months and lost 30 pounds. All labs. and A1c began to fall into normal range. then I noticed a drop in engery level, and a change in an annual urine for protein done on Diabetic's. I knew than I had to raise my carbs.
Found Spark and so far so good. I am fine if I keep carbs. now between 90 and 120 per day.

Welcome to the team!

I can relate. This team is big on taking a diet and making it your own. A diet only works if you can stick with it and make it a way of life.

I admire those that can do Atkins long term but a couple of weeks of really low carb is my limit and I actually have never done 20 net carbs a day. 60-80 net carbs works well for many people as long as you are not severely insulin resistant, don't have metabolic syndrome, or one of it's "cousin" problems. I keep my net carbs below 150 every day and am usually much lower. I eat most veggies and fruit. They don't trigger me like grains do. I can be happy with my diet and usually stay on it barring problems. I have to keep my carb intake low early in the day though or I end up triggered and hungry so if you experience that then you may want to up the protein in the morning and cut back on the carbs. You should have no problems with berries anyway as few people are triggered by them but some are by grapes.

Just me, but I never get sick of bacon and eggs. LOL.

I tried Atkins moons ago....funny how ya get sick a bacon and eggs!!!

Are you usin the tracker? I mean, I took tha diabetic track, and, you can tweak tha numbers...add this to follow and add that....different nutrients....its way helpful!

I have cycled 2 weeks of Atkins Induction into my diet at times over the last few years. When I started at 361 I did the whole first month and lost 44 lbs. Every time though I lose weight so rapidly that by week 2, I feel depleted. Also after a few days of eggs, I can't stand them.

So this time I decided to skip Induction, and just do a modified carb diet, I am going to have cottage cheese and berries/grapes for breakfast, and meat and vegetables for lunch and dinner. I am aiming for 60-80 net carbs, and I will see how that affects me.
