I have been getting so much energy and inspiration reading everyone's posts! Just now I found out how to get the "yardstick" at the bottom of my posts (but I'm afraid it would be so small you wouldn't see it.....I've only lost 1 pound so far.)

I am in Western Massachusetts (I know, no surprise, right?) and I've been here since I hiked the Appalachian Trail in 1976 and another hiker suggested Boston as a place to live if you didn't have a car. I'm married with two grown step-children (one at home doing grad-school for teaching) and I love my little Honda Fit car. (hey, I don't live in Boston near the subway anymore!)

You can guess from my "type-talking" that I grew up mostly on Long Island, New York. But I've lived in Indiana, Ohio (born there,) Santa Fe, Seattle Washington, and I've moved around within Massachusetts. I love the differences in the land from state to state - love hiking as well as quilting.

Star blocks, Mariner Compass, and Log Cabin are my favorite blocks. I have a dream of making a blue jean crazy quilt with lots of embroidery....I think that one is waiting until I retire, though!

Hi! I'm Robbie and am working on getting better at my quilting. Right now I'm working on the Block of the Month class at Craftsy and am also working at a BOM crazy quilt project. My ASG Neighborhood Group has a "Jelly Roll Race" coming up in October that ought to be a lot of fun.

I'm 63, currently live in League City, Texas with my DH, four 'kittie sewing assistants', and a cockatiel.

Probably a little late in the game (seeing as how it is June already), but how about a red, white, & blue swap in honor of the 4th?

Hi! My name is Joy and I'm from East Tennessee. I was so happy to find this SparkTeam as I love to quilt. I'm currently working on disappearing 9-patch quilts for my 3 kiddos.

I'm excited about fabric swaps as well as having some weight loss buddies. I lost 20 lbs last summer, and have gained back 5 lbs of it in the past two months. I have 25 lbs yet to lose.

Hi, my name is Cyndi, and I'm from New Brunswick, Canada. I have quilted for years. I'm not a pro, but I really enjoy what I do. I have just returned to SP after a two year absence, and I'm right back where I started. This time, my goal is to actually succeed!
Very excited about the idea of fabric swaps. Would love to know how to get involved!!

Hi!!! My name is Kim and I've been addicted to quilting for almost 3 years. I have a fabric collection to revival Joann's and I have not a clue what to do with it all. I'm sure given enough time I'll find a use for it all.

I've finished (and gifted) three quilts. I have two UFOS (unfinished objects). I have my very first quilt which is such a hot mess that I've just assumed it isn't ready to be finished...and I have a wall hanging sized one which needs to be re-basted and quilted.

Work often gets in the way of my projects, but it funds the addiction and the addiction distracts from the snacking so....

Welcome Betsy, glad to have you join the team. I'm sure the exercise will become easier. It still isn't my favorite thing to do, but I don't avoid it like I used to. The most important thing I have noticed with my weight loss is how much easier it is to do everyday activities, which makes it all worth while.

Hi there. My name is Betsy, and I live in Oregon. I've been with SP almost 2 years. I'm losing weight with a low carb diet and looking forward to having less weight on to overload my knees when I exercise (not yet my fav thing). I'd love to join the next swap. I've been quilting for many years and like manu, have quite a "stash" I'd love to share.

Hey I'm Cricket, and about a year ago I may or may not have introduced myself, but I'm 27 years old and I have lots of extra stuffing. I'm re-starting my spark/weight loss journey. I enjoy dabbling with quilts, I'm only a beginner, but I've sewn tops since I was in High School(not lots, but quite a few). I also enjoy cross-stitching, reading, painting, teaching Girl Scouts, and I have a number of other hobbies. I am currently working on a t-shirt quilt for my best friend's daughter. She's 5, but her dad died in Feb. and she wanted me to use some of his shirts to make it with. I want to make it a reversible quilt with princesses on the other side. I was told I need to quilt as I go, I've never done that, so any suggestions?

Hi my name is Becca and I am overweight....

I am single Mom of 4 kids between the ages of 5 - 20 years old. I have suffered from a back injury and put on a whole other person's worth of weight. I join Sparks a week ago after being diagnosed with diabetes.

I am a sewer and quilter. I have used that as my therapy to deal with life. I now use it as my saving grace. I also sew a lot of doll clothes for my daughter's doll.

Go to your spark page and click "edit". Then near the bottom is a block that says "weight loss ticker". pick a background and marker, put in your weight and save.

I'm making Dresden Plates with the ugly fabric. I had a great response, got over 50 fabrics, may not be able to use them all. I'll change my avatar to show the test block.

Thanks for the welcome. How do you find the yardstick at the bottom of your posts?
What kind of 'ugly' fabrics do you have and are you making a crazy quilt or a specific pattern? It would be fun to embroider over the fabrics to mute their ugliness!! I might have to try that next!

Hello, everyone! I am Vivian from the high desert of southern California. I love to sew, quilt and machine embroider. With rheumatoid arthritis it is imperative that I lose weight to ease the strain on my joints.
Right now I am finishing up a reversible, charm square table runner with prairie points....what are you working on?
Can't wait to meet some of you and learn your stories and your crafts.

Eating the best you can, getting your exercise, and jumping back on the wagon as soon as you can is whats important. I'm glad you got a lot of sewing done and had a great time. Sometimes we just need a break to keep our spirits up.

I was at the quilt retreat for 4 days. I tried very hard to follow the plan. But they do not cook with low calorie in mind. I did get some walking in and tried to eat as healthy as possible. Got a lot of sewing done and had a lot of fun with friends. I am back on track with the Spark!

Hi, My name is Jeanie and I live in East Texas. I found Spark Page about a week ago and just found this team. Am thrilled to find other quilters. I'm going to a quilt retreat this weekend and am a little concerned about all the food challenges! But I will be getting my walks in and having a whole lot of fun.

Hello all. I look forward to getting to know everyone. My name is Amy and I live in Suffolk, VA, the home of Mr. Peanut. Planters is about 1 mile away and I just love the smell of roasting peanuts.
I've only been quilting for a short time. I've finished several quilt tops, but have taken the first one in to be quilted.

Hi All! I am Jo-Anne from Philadelphia, PA area and I just joined SP. Its great finding fellow quilters on a group here. A friend just told me about this site and I have been having fun exploring it. I have been on so many diets, I can't count them all. Looking forward to a new way of looking at things. Just started the book. Good luck to all and to all a spark!

Hi, my name is Andrea and I just began quilting not too long ago. I love to sew though and have been sewing since I was 5 (or younger) at grandma's knee. My grandmother taught me much of what I know and I have since inherited her sewing machine (to add to a growing collection). I am the mother of two boys (a 2 year old and an 8 month old). I get my sewing in during their sleeping hours. I am currently working on two 9-patch quilts (one for each).

Hi I am a married mother of 4 boys 7-2. I have a long arm quilting business in my home and hope to loose 20 or so more pounds.
Though I gained last week, I know why and am going to do a better job this week.
I am off to put my shoes on, make my bed, and get going on the Christmas rush quilts in my studio. emoticon

Hi my name is Robin. I started to sew and quilt after I inherited my mother's HV Rose. She died at 73 from lung cancer. I only wish I had the interest when she was here. I have finished several of her craft projects she had started. My sisters love to get them as gifts because Mom started them. I have done many quilt tops for charity through my guild. I am now making my first complete quilt for my DH. We call it a nap quilt as it is larger than a lap quilt. I also fixed a 1970's quilt for a friend. Her mom had made it and died very early. I had to reduce it to a lap quilt and a pillow, but it is now safe. It was in shreds! What was I thinking!!!!

Welcome back and good luck with your lapband. My aunt got one over a year ago and has done really well. Her doctor is really good and keeps a close eye on her nutrition and has adjusted the band several times because she was losing too fast.

Welcome to the team Becky, glad to have you with us. I just quilt because I enjoy it. Don't do any bazaars or things.

Hi everyone, I've been absent for quite a while - approx. 6 months! I apologize for dropping off the face of the earth in the middle of a swap - I didn't get my strips sent off - they're still sitting in my sewing room!! DH was diagnosed with early Alzheimer's (he's only 52 - so it came as quite a shock!) I think I'm now ready to resume where we left off.
I enjoy hand-sewing and I've done a number of quilts/quilt-tops from start to finish completely by hand - a very enjoyable pastime!
