Denise,

Thanks. That is good info. If there comes a point in time when I need some new inspiration that may be the way to go. For now I've come back here to track and checkout the message boards. And maybe even blog. :) Hopefully, that will help me kick this last five pounds (again). I was part of this team not too long after it started.

That's correct, Sandee. I used a Bodybugg for two years, but I was not satisfied with the website interface and reporting available there, plus my model did not interface with my smartphone, so I had to use the display to keep track during the day (essential for me to get up and get moving!). When my subscription ran out this year, I found a good deal on the price of the BodyMedia Fit LINK and got one, and I am happy with that decision. I wanted more details on my activity (moderate vs. vigorous activity) and also information about my sleep patterns, and I get that now. The basic device is the same; it's the programming under the hood that is different, and BodyMedia seems to have the edge for that. It all depends on what you want from your device, really--and what deals you can get on the device and the subscription. BodyMedia only offers a monthly subscription at $6.95 currently, but I can live with that. Hope that helps!

Denise,

Am I understanding your response further down correctly that you have transitioned from the Bodybugg to Body Media LINK device? If so how do you like it? I have thought about making the change a couple of times seems to be the same hardware just a different web interface. Do you get better info from the site to make it worth the monthly fee? The Bodybugg site is pretty cheap now if you hit yearly renewals when there is a special. I got my first Bodybugg in July 2007 and have had every version since. I am always happy with the device but the food database and nutrition reporting has never really progressed. Although the activity info has always been good.

Welcome, Melissa! I do love my BMF device, too; it's made a big difference for me. The combination of using the tools here on SparkPeople with the feedback that I get from this gadget has helped so much. Just wearing it won't *make* you lose weight; you still have to change what you're doing. It takes the guesswork out of how many calories you're really burning, though, which makes it harder to fool yourself about why you are or are not losing weight.

I'm new to the group and I just wanted to stop by and say HI !!! Is anyone else sop happy about this product they want to shout it from the rooftops? I feel like people are going to think I sell it because I talk about it so much, I think everyone that is struggling to lose weight should get one. It changes my if I were rich and answer.... now if i was rich or won some money I would buy tons of these and give them away to people who need them.

Welcome! Unfortunately I don't know how to adjust it to count carbs. I started out using the food tracker here on SP because I prefer it. I made a generic food entry for the Bodybugg site to just track total calories there so I could see the deficit and rely on the SP tracker for the real data. I've since switched to a Bodymedia Fit LINK that works with my phone, so I don't have access to the Bodybugg site anymore. Hopefully someone else can help if you prefer the Bodybugg site for your food tracking.

I've been using the Bodybugg for about a year. Today, my doctor told me to eat a very restricted low carb plan. Do any of the members know how to adjust the Bodybugg to count carbs? I look forward to meeting everyone.
