Welcome to the team. I have had no cervical surgeries so I can't give you specific advice on that surgery. I have had several lumbar surgeries, the latest in January. I have recovered quite well from each surgery. In fact the one in January was very serious and I came out of it and was amazingly fused in three months. This was even a surprise to the surgeon.
My biggest advice is to do as you are told. Observe all spine precautions given to you. When in doubt, ask questions in the hospital and after the hospital. Resist the urge to go back to work or play before you are told to do so. I honestly believe that if you follow the instructions from the doctor and pt and keep ahead of any post op pain, you should do great. Stop back after surgery and tell us how it went.
Enjoy life when you can, as life changes when you least expect it!!!

Hi all, I thought I would sign up for this team before surgery! Am scheduled for an Anterior Cervical Fusion surgery next week for degenerated disc from c-4 to c-6. My expected outcome is very promising and hopefully I'll be back to "normal" soon. I can't wait to be able to get back to a fit and painfree lifestyle. From what I have read, the post-op period is not very fun, so I'm looking for support and encouragement during that time and going forward. Would love to hear any words of wisdom or advice - but postive feed back only please. I truly believe that having a positve outlook can help with the healing process.
