Congrats RK on your weight loss. That is wonderful!! Remember, YOU are worth it and keep going!! I am no help with your garden problem, I just put it in the dirt. My husband does put all the chicken poo poo on it in the spring, we till it and in goes the plants or seeds.

Blessings are coming your way!!

Hi RK and Welcome to the Team !!!!
I was reading about how you mixed your soil for your raised beds...Way To Much Peat Moss...It hold a lot of water = spongey and soggy. root rot...
Here's what I found after a Google search..

Raised garden bed boost:
•1 part topsoil
•1 part dried leaves
•1 part peat moss
•1 part compost
•1 part composted manure

It also, says to add coffee grounds.

Here's the link...

Hi and welcome to the team.

What do they say about all good things??? Sometimes what you think is the best doesn't always end up so, I can attest to that having done virtually the same with my gardens and ended up with so so production.

Let's hope you can fix the problem so you can get maximum produce

Peace and long life - Jules

Hi, You are doing good, keep up the good work. Stay at the garden, best to find some old lady or man that is an experienced gardener, they will be happy to guide you. I container garden, just tomatoes and they do well. Mine are 55 gallon drums cut in half, several large rocks at the bottom for drainage, holes drille

You are doing good, keep up the good work. I suggest you ask questions, some old lady or old man that gardens will be glad to coach you. Is there a farm store anywhere nearby? People that hang out in such places have experience, ask them. I container garden, 55 gallon drums cut in half, big rocks in the bottom for drainage, holes drillin in the drum couple inches from the bottom so as not to trap water. Just tomatoes. Good luck with your weight loss and your gardening. Missnuggy

I am from Victorville California (High Desert) I've built a beautiful raised bed vegetable garden out of cinder block each bed is 16" deep. I've built my own soil 95 % organic peat moss, organic mulch, vermiculite and 5% garden soil. It has a drip system and I usually water by hand. I get some of the worse production compared to using native clay, sand, and 30% organic. I've been analysing the problem and realize I may need better drainage because the top 4 inches dry out but the bottom is like a sponge. It has been a headache due to cost and labor and yet we do not get an abundance of produce. I decided that I will test the PH and add sand to promote drainage. emoticon

My experience in canning is making hundreds of jars of peach and plum jam. emoticon

I've recently started walking and I walk 2 miles a day four times a week. I started walking to the end of the block three Weeks+ ago. I track everything I eat and enter foods before I eat. I plan on taking a Tai Chi class on saturdays. Tomorrow I start. I feel all sorts of aches and pains and know my body is alive under all this fat.
