I have frozen over 50 bags of beans and 2 gallon bags of peas. We just froze the first batch of corn this morning and started canning tomato sauce and salsa. All of this is from the garden so I don't think I can get anymore local then that lol. Good luck on your venture into putting food by.

Welcome! Your province is a beautiful part of the world. We visited freinds in Owen Sound years ag0-took the ferry to Tobermory. I hope we get back there some day. I too like to focus on local produce as much as possible. My hubby is freezing local tomatoes right now, and we'll go pick apples next weekend.

I have just joined this group. I hope to learn and share with everyone. I have been making jams for probably about 25 years, but only seriously began exploring other foods about 3 years ago. I remember my grandmother canning, but didn't really learn much from her as I didn't live near her growing up. My mother didn't preserve as she was an urban kid. I am very interested in local eating and feel I should try to put up fresh food so we can eat local through the year. I have found I have discovered more local sources for foods this year than in the past. Looking forward to discussions.
