Great to have you! I knew you looked familliar, and was trying to figure out why. I must have seen you on the homeschooling group. I have an OCD about joining groups, and I can't keep up with them all. I'm not active on them all (because nobody could be, lol, with as many as I have).
I have 6 children, 5 boys and 1 girl. I homeschooled all my kids right from the beginning, 15 years ago or so (depends on how you look at it, according to your formality, or law or what). We've always gardened and put up food, and it's a big part of my life. That's why I started this group. I had chickens, ducks and geese, along with dairy goats, growing up. We don't have any of that here, but hubby has talked about it. We do have part in a local farmer's place, where he does a gardening on shares program. We get milk from him. He is organic, but not certified-which is fine by us. Sometimes we get eggs from him, too.
I just found your team today although I have been on Spark People for a while. I have been reading Animal Vegetable Miracle by Barbara Kingsolver. Her book is about the need to buy local and grow local to feed our families. We have always gardened but not to that level. She has really inspired me to find ways to support local farming and not the grocery store. Has anyone else read her book?
We are a homeschooling family with three children. I spend most of my day with our children (12, 14, and 16) and work part-time in my husbands office. We have added chickens and goats to our schedule so things may get a little hectic until we get ourselves organized. :)
