I joined the other day and forgot to introduce myself!, Yes, I am a 55-year-old with ADD--that is why my nickname is "Mama Loca"! Although I am considered a "skinny diabetic" (Type II) at 181 pounds (barely 34-35% BMI), I am in the prep stage for bariatric surgery, which I consider a TOOL in my journey for better lifestyle, not so much for weight loss (a given), but to help *reverse* diabetes and hopefully I can get off at least HALF of my 14+ prescriptions!
My "final frontier" is exercise! At this point, the behavior change I am working on, among many, is "just schedule it"! I even forget to do that--how convenient!! Actually that has a nice ring to it, "just schedule it" as a preemptive to "just do it"! I want to walk, for starters, but I struggle with constant fatigue and leg pain (I am the queen of excuses)! Or if only I can get my but on the Wii to dance to Zumba and ABBA!!
At any rate, any support and dialog would be helpful--online and in person/group get-togethers. I am bilingual in Spanish/English, in case that's helpful for some Kzoo Sparklers. I am married to Mitch Martin (non-Sparkler) and have two "only children." A 31-year-old son, who works with the Air National Guard in Battle Creek (yes, I am a proud, patriotic Blue Star Mother), who will be married in October 2015, as well as a 16-year-old daughter who attends Kalamazoo Central, where I also work. At this stage, I also operate as "Mama Martin's Mobile Service" for her and her friends. She graduates also in 2015.
As can be surmised, I am known to talk a lot and can write as much as I talk. I still can't figure out why my face isn't skinnier/firmed up with all that "exercise"!
Looking forward to meeting more Kazoo Sparklers who can put up with me and love me anyway! haha Have a great day!
