Hello, I just joined your group. I did a Nordic walking workshop in the Spring and did quite a bit of walking but stopped during Summer as I can't do anything outdoors in heat. I've developed Polymyalgia Rheumatica, similar to Fibromalgia. I attend an Elderobics class (I just started again in September because I just couldn't tolerate heat during the Summer classes).
I hope to begin again with my Nordic poles and hope that it doesn't make my muscles worse. And I'm hoping with that activity plus stretching exercises that my physiotherapist is giving me plus the Elderobics classes will keep me off meds. I really don't want to get into Prednisone or Cortisteriods!!!
I'm fairly active in the Over 60's group but try not to "over-friend" or "over-group" as then I lose track of really getting to know people.

Welcome! I see you're also new to Spark People - hope you're finding your way around the site and getting acquainted with all the great tools, info and PEOPLE here. I've been a pole-walker for several years, and, although I also walk, run and do other things for cardio now, I LOVE Nordic walking!

Welcome to the Nordic Walking team. I have had my poles for two years and try to walk about three times a week. I do not walk as far as some on this team but what I do walk is keeping me fitter. I noticed that you added me as a friend and I'll do the same.
