Welcome and good luck. There are so many ways to do the wrong thing and I've probably done most of them.

Even experienced gardeners have failures - it's all part of the challenge. Good luck, and next season I hope you try some outdoor vegetables.

Hi, welcome to the team.
Start small, make note of what you do that succeeds and what does not. Learn from both your successes and failures. That is something all gardeners do.
Here is a link for edible plants you can grow inside.

OK, thanks. I had a phase in my life where I could have killed cactus AND artificial plants. SOOOOO there's hope for you too. emoticon

When you DO get ready to plant outdoors, that area with 4-5 hours can grow quite a lot:

Not sure if space is an issue for you, but I use the Square Foot Gardening method where you use only 20% of the space & 10% of the water of a conventional garden.

I have seen women looking at jewelry ads with a misty eye and one hand resting on the heart, and I only know what they're feeling because that's how I read the seed catalogs in January.

RBRINK21 that made me lol! Ive had a few years under my belt, I just wasnt ready to learn I guess.
KSROMAN by edible I mainly mean herbs, Im beginning with green garlic bc Ive read its easy to plant, care for, and needs little light, then hopefully graduate to herbs. My eventual goal is to have an outdoor vegetable container garden. I dont have any south facing windows but I do have an area that gets 4-5 hrs of sunlight, where my plants seem to be happy. Also, I have a grow light if needed.
Im already quite pleased I found this group and cannot wait to read all the other posts, interesting reads. Thanks sparkers!

LOL sorry, but I didn't quite understand. You mention edible plants but mentioned indoor. Did I get that right? So, you're looking for edible indoor plants?

Let us know how much room you have, sun, goals, etc. I LOVE a challenge.

This may sound strange but the primary goal of your first year gardening is to fail like you've never failed before. And then write it all down so you know what to change.

In all seriousness, start small and get your soil tested first.

As the topic states I have a brown thumb with plants and gardening. There have been many plant casualties at my hand, I swear I try! I am joining because Ive kept several plants I bought half dead on clearance alive and thriving so once again I am ready to dive in and give edible plants a go :] Im starting small with what should be a fool er siena proof indoor plant, green garlic. Dont laugh at me. I hope to learn much from yall! TIA
