Welcome Erica!

As others have said, start with small steps and focus on them one day at a time. Be kind and patient with yourself and the changes will happen. emoticon

Hi welcome. It is true that we are judged by how we look. It can be very painful. I think that if you really get involved with SP you will learn to love yourself for who YOU are and not listen to other people who can be cruel even if they don't mean to. You can change the way you react, easier said than done, but possible. There is tons of information here

Hi Erica, welcome to the team.
Find 2-3 small changes you can make and do them for a few weeks. Once you get used to doing those things, make a few more small changes. After a few months, you will be seeing good results both with your weight and your confidence in making changes.

I'm glad you found sparkpeople...keep up the positive affirmations to yourself, even if you don't think you believe them right now, your mind is listening. It takes time to change long-held negative beliefs, but you can do it.

in a world where what you look like is determined how you are treated, is it important to look good at any cost? my heart, tells me no but my mind says otherwise. hello my name is erica im a 25 year old housewife with a huge issue with food. on the outside my life seems fairly normal but on the inside im dieing. my mind has been taken over with bad body issues and as a matter of fact it has gotten so bad that i refuse to go out with friends because of the way i look. its sad to know that i am filled with self doubt, if i loose 5 lbs i wonder how long will it take my to gain them back. so, thats why im here to gain not only the body i once had but the self confidence that came with it; the knowing that not only am i bright enough to do it the healthy way but mentally strong enough and finally capable of changing my life for good.
