Welcome Kim...I love all the activities you are involved with. Your biggest challenge will be to learn what to order when eating out...esp since you are headed out right a way. This is tough stuff and breakfast out can usually blow the whole day. If you want to enjoy it just be sure to recognize that it will be your high cal meal for the day and eat two small meals later. Do use the food tracker!

I read once that the three most essential keys to weight loss are in this order: 1)diet 2)strength training 3) cardio. Isn't funny how you can be super active but not lose and even gain weight? I was training for a marathon once, but wasn't watching my diet or strength training...just cardio all the time. I GAINED weight. People didn't believe me when I told them. (It wasn't "good" weight either!)
Definitely track your food..it really opens your eyes to how much you need vs. how much you actually eat! Good luck!

The one thing that helps me the most is the food tracker and the chart on portion sizes (now on the front of the fridge)

Hi Kim. Welcome to SparkPeople, and to the Organic Gardeners team! What HM are you doing? I'm a runner, also. I just did a HM April 3rd, it wasn't my first or second. I've lost count. My next HM is Oct. 23rd. Got a 5K coming up on May 7th, and a Warrior Dash coming up in June.
Hopefully we can help you get your weight where you want it to be. It's always an experiment of 1, and what works for one doesn't necessarily work for someone else. So just make your goal to be healthy, watch your calories, stay active, and you'll be good :-)

I found this website while searching for yet another weight loss quick fix plan. About me, I am somewhat active, more so on some days than others. I am running (more like walking/jogging/stumbling) my second half-marathon of a triple crown on Sunday. This is one of my more active days. I hike, cycle, rock climb, run, orienteer, swim, garden and bushwack. Yet, I can't seem to lose the weight and keep it off. My goal is to be able to do all of these things better by carrying less weight, by about 35 pounds. I started yesterday and have my first challenge today when I meet someone for a business breakfast. I look forward to losing the weight through healthy life-style (read eating) choices. This is going to be fun.
