Hello -
I am going to attempt a garden for the third time - this time I will have the time and energy to keep it going. I LOVE being outside, and my husband is 'working on' getting my garden prepared. I would do it myself but it needs to be tilled and he is building fence and tiers for leveling it off. It is going to be quite extensive when complete I wish I could post a pic here, but there will be before and after on my blog.

I am thrilled to do it this year - we finally have a home with a big enough space (deck and yard) to create a viable garden. And in Minnesota, we can't waste any time, our growing season is pretty short. I also have lettuce and herbs in my Aerogarden inside.

I am also going to try the deck containers for tomatoes and herbs, the big stuff will be in the ground. But the deck is a little tricky, they seem to dry out so easily. Again I will have pictures on my blog. emoticon

I am going to try and grow tomatoes in a container. Reading this thread has encouraged me to grow some other things.

Made it to my maintenance weight of 125 pounds.

Even though I have reached goal. I still don't know everything about weight loss.

I've been growing in containers for many years. It all started when we used to live in a apartment with a small balcony.

This year things aren't great due to the weather. Hopefully things will change soon.

I find container gardening easier, less pests, less water and my dogs can't reap destruction plus it's less work emoticon

I'm starting my first vegetable garden this year and you all have convinced me that planting them in containers is the way to go. Thanks!

My veggie garden is exclusivity in a deck containers. Thank God for self-watering containers! They've doubled the produce I get each season!

Best of luck to you all! emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

I live in a townhouse with no yard so I grow all my veggies in pots on the sidewalk. Last summer I grew tomatoes, cucumbers, lettuce, and squash. This year I'm going to add green peppers, cilantro, dill, radishes, zucchini, eggplant, spinach, and cherry tomatoes. (I'm going to have A LOT of pots! lol) And I'm growing soybeans at my boyfriend's grandparent's house.

I'm growing the cilantro, dill, and radishes as companion plants to the lettuce and cucumbers b/c last year I had problems with spider mites and cucumber beetles.

Hopefully, I will not have to spend much money in the grocery produce section this summer! :-)

Hearing you had success encourages me, since I will be attempting to grow my first garden this summer!

Phil. 4:13- I can do all this through Him who gives me strength.

"Do what you can, with what you have, where you are."

Hello there,
I'm Reba and I live in Colorado. I began growing tomatoes last season both in the upside down hangars and in big pots on my deck (I live on the 3rd floor) and had great success which was a nice surprise since I don't have a natural green thumb. The grape tomatoes did the best of the 4 varieties I tried. I definitely will do them again this year and also am going to try a few other veggies just to see how or what will work in containers. Looking forward to getting started soon.
