Hi everyone it has been awhile for me also. I have not stopped loosing weight but I just haven;t been logging on here like I should. Found out that the doctor had to change one of my meds and the weight is finally coming off. Not tremendous amounts but enough to make me feel I am making some headway in this battle. I wish all of you luck in your journey and I hope to see less of you next time.

Hi Everyone: Although I actually joined SP a few years ago, I have to admit that I have'nt been here in over a year. I have recommitted to a healthier lifestyle starting today!!! Every year I get older, I observe my body getting obese and unhealthy, that is coming to a stop now. I have always been athletic and healthy, so it is really hard to watch my body change. I am becoming one of those people that I never wanted to become. I am 10 months away from hitting the big 50, my goal is to be a healthy 50. Thank you in advance for all the help and support I have received in the past, and will in the future.

I've been a member since early October '07 and had a good first run but let my enthusiasm peter out and laze creep in after the holidays. Now I'm getting back on track and am really ambitious.

I want to get more involved in the community aspect of Spark People. It's true, this can't be done alone! So here I am! I look forward to reading about everyone's progress and sharing my own. Let's go team!

Hi, all! I don't think I ever introduced myself - I'm Faye and I joined along with this class. I used the last quarter of 2007 to prepare myself to lose weight, and now am putting together everything I've learned so far to really make progress. Though, I wish I would have come over here sooner, because this team is much more active than others I'm a part of.

Just reporting back to say thanks for the encouragement. I did finally break open the pedometer and I made 10,000 steps for each of the first four days! I even went to the gym yesterday. I'm tired today, and 10,000 is harder than you would think - but I have a feeling I'm going to do it today because I want to keep up my step average.

Well...I got it, but it's still in the package on the kitchen table. I guess today will be the day!

I'm actually a little energized today because I found out that beer is good for you! I went out last night and drank three, and this morning I was actually down a pound. Usually I beat myself up for any backsliding so avoiding the consequences today gives my willpower a big lift. Of course, I didn't backslide completely last night. There were fries and nachos and burgers all around me and I limited myself to the beer,which I had planned for earlier in the day and allotted calories accordingly. Well, I had only planned for two, but you know how that goes. Anyhow, I do feel renewed vigor for weight loss today, so I guess I'll open that pedometer.

Thanks, Katherine. I've tried using a pedometer in the past and enjoyed it. I really like the idea of looking for a spark team that has pedometer challenges. I've just been walking on the treadmill and using a recumbent bike but I'm so bored, even with the tv. I will get a pedometer tomorrow. Thanks again!

Welcome Amy glad to have you here with us. I know men just seem to lose weight a lot easier then we do. What really helps me in the exercise department is my pedometer. It keeps me moving. You can get cheap ones at Walmart and see if you like it. There are teams on spark that use pedometers. I belong to 10,000 steps and they have challenges that help motivate. Plus it's fun to be active and talk with others. What kind of exercises have you been doing?

Hello! I thought it was time to introduce myself. I'm Amy, 45 years old from suburban Chicago. I have two active boys and a husband who skips lunch and loses 10 lbs, so I need to lose 40 lbs just to keep up with them. I'm off to a great start but ambition is waning after three plus weeks. Also, I haven't been exercising like I should. I pretty much hate all exercise and just getting in the car to go to the gym feels like enough for me. Any advice for the exer-phobic?

Hello everybody! My mission began 10/4/07 to date I am struggling, hungry, have a slight headache, but... have been sleeping better, my tummy looks flatter, my face doesn't look so bloated, my wedding band has a bit more room and my overall feeling of well-being seems peppier with a bit of a wiggle instead of a wobble. I noticed a few guys looking at me while at Walmart lastnight which made me blush! I know its only been a FEW days but what a difference 5 lbs makes... Best of luck to us all!

I joined the site on Saturday and have been exploring for the last 2 days. I'm really excited to be here. I'm 32 and currently weigh 185lbs. My highest weight was 230lbs. I worked my way down to 165lbs on my own and with weight watchers. I think I was a little burnt out on dieting and let the pounds creep back up when I got busy. Hello, All!

I joined SP in April but didn't do a whole lot until just this week. I spent some time learning about the nutrition and fitness tools and they turned out to be easier than I thought they would be to use.

I have struggled with weight loss since pre-teen years and have always been in "diet" mode or "need to be on a diet" mode.

So with this site I am trying a different strategy - to live a healthy lifestyle. Weight loss will likely be a by-product of this new lifestyle, but for once having a "goal weight by X date on the calendar" is not my focus.

This site has so much to explore - I'm really excited about getting to know my way around and would really love to meet a healthy lifestyle buddy too emoticon !

Hi, I am so glad to have found this site. Lots to get to, a lot to read over, figure out how everything works. I want to participate in these discussion boards because I feel this is what will help motivate me.

I just joined on Oct 4th, late in the day, and haven't been able to get started yet, or check out the tools page which I think will really be helpful too.

Hello All! I'm new here too!! I'm 26, a graduate of Sam Houston State University and I work in accounting. I live in Houston Texas with my fiance and my 12 year old soon to be step-son. Our wedding is on March 29th 2008 and my first fitting is on January 19th so I'm hoping to shed a couple more before then and carry on after the wedding as well. My fiance and I are also building our first home which should be completed in December.

When I diet I kinda follow a WW program so when I came across this free site with all the tools and information I was really blown away and had to join.

A mum of two cyclones/tornadoes (search & destroy) aged 5 and 7 (Alex & Kristen), successfully married 10 years to a wonderful guy, a student studying 2nd year physchology degree and 32 years young. I am in Australia and have so far found joining this site has kept me to my goals for past 2 days and have drunk 8 glasses of water instead of 8 glasses of coffee!! I just joined on 10/2 - I can't for the life of me remember how I found this site; I think it was through toptipsforgirls.com.

At any rate, I want to get back to the size I was before perimenopause by my 45th birthday. I looked pretty good back then and think I can get at least close to that.

Short-term goal is to look good for Jack's and my fifth anniversary in January.

Hello, I'm Rosie, and I just joined a few days ago. I'm so glad to find a place like this that's free, and that will hopefully give me the structure to acheive my goal of 20 lbs by Dec. 15th.

I have been trying a number of things to lose weight, but none of them seem to work. Calorie counting is my next try, and this site will be very helpful with that. I am already pretty active at the gym and on my bike. I hope that my first weigh-in produces some results! Nice to meet everyone!

I'm so glad I found this site! I've been meaning to start a diet after I had my last baby, but life got in the way. My "baby" is now six and off to a full day of school with his siblings! Now that I have a little time to myself, I'm determined to lose weight and feel better about myself! Thanks for the support!

Hi everyone! I am fairly new here and wanted to introduce myself...I am a single mommy of a 9 yr old boy, and I have about 30 lbs to lose. Welcome all, Pennie that is a great attitude. Spark teaches you in small steps to change your eating habits for life. This is not a quick fix, but you will not be sorry if you stick with it. Hi, I joined today after a rec from a post on The Knot. I'm iffy, since its new. But its free, which is a change of what you usually see. I'm trying to get back to being 'me' because I'm unhappy with how I feel. I'm also trying to get fit for my Feb wedding.

emoticon Hello! My name is Pennie, today is my first day on here. I live in a small town in Idaho as well. I have been overweight since I broke my foot when I was in 6th grade. Ever since then I just can't take it off and keep it off. Sure I have tried pretty much everything but it only works while I am on it and then when I stop it all comes back and most of the time 10x's worse! I'm not happy with myself yet my husband says I'm fine but I know he is saying that to be nice and not hurt my feelings. Today is the day of my new life!

I really need to lose at least 40lbs and would like to lose 20 by Xmas. I started working out this week 30 min of cardio a day. Hi , My name is Terrol. I live in Manitoba, Canada. I'm 56 yrs old and have a hubby and 3 adult children and 4 pre-teen grandchildren. In preparation for my 50th birhtday I joined W.W.'s and lost 40 lbs. Looked and felt great ! And bought myself really nice clothes. New here...was on spark awhile ago but things weren't going well and my motivation just wasn't doing it. I'm back now and want to get going.

I am a member of Tops and our Leader said 13 weeks til Christmas, it sunk in big time and I said its time, no better than the present. So here I am and ready to go.

I live in Canada and with my better half. We have three girls all grown and out on their own more or less. Two in college right now with a 3rd starting in January.

Hi there, I've been on the site a couple of days now, and there is SO much info, it's going to take me ages to find everything.

My name is Louise, and I live in Manchester in the UK with two lovely (and annoyingly slim...) flatmates. I managed to lose 60lb + over a year ago now, but in the past year, I had relaxed a lot, and although I haven't overall gained any weight, I certainly haven't lost any either.

A stranger recently told me in a bar that I could be attractive if I wasn't so fat, and although I was devastated at the time, i'm going to use that as the spur to get rid of the last 40lb or so. I'm looking forward to getting to know you all!

Hey there! 'nother newbie here. I'm 26 years old (almost) and recently became a homemaker with a beautiful little girl who will turn 8 months next week. Since she was born, I was first stressed from going back to work and trying to do too much all at once. Now that I'm home, I find myself not moving quite as much as I should and while I know what I should be eating, I'm still diving into the sugar bowl every chance I get (it seems that way anyway). So I signed up for some accountablility!

I first heard of SparkPeople thru' FlyLady, an orginizational group I belong to, and filed it away in the back of my mind (meaning I forgot all about it). Then today I saw a show on TV about 2 ladies who had lost a bunch of weight and it was like a smack to the forehead, "DUH!" I really need to get off my duff and do something about my health! So today I went online to CafeMom and found a link to here. Remembering my previous (very brief) self-tour, I thought it would be a great idea. So here I am! Raring to go!

Hi! I'm 26 and I recently moved to be close to the only Greek Orthodox church in Arkansas so I can convert. Part of being Orthodox involves fasting from meat, oil, milk products, eggs, and fish on most Wednesdays and Fridays as well as other fast days. I found this site while looking for something I could eat on those days. I was looking things over and found out I was listed as obese, which shocked me because I wear a size 10! Weight loss and learning to fast seemed compatible so I joined!

I'll tell my whole insane conversion story on a blog sometime-- it DOES involve Constantine Maroulis but he's not the center of it.

I'm new here, new to message boards also. I hope that I am doing this right.

I am 28, married, SAHM and Army wife. Hubby is currently in AZ for training, so I'm kind of a single mom at the moment.
I have found that since hubby has been gone I've been lurking in the house and comforting myself with food and I have gained about 15 pounds just this summer. I'd like to lose 45 total pounds to get back to what I was before children. I have 3 children, 6,5, and 3. Somedays I would trade them for a tummy tuck, but mostly not.
I'm very excited to be here, hope to get to know some of you. emoticon

Hi I am Kristi from the PNW... one of my dear friends and coworkers hooked me up to this site.... it is awesome!

I am recently engaged ( we have been together over a year) with 3 kids of my own 17 1/2G, 16B and 14B plus 3 of his...17 1/2G, 15G and 12B... all but the 15 and 12 year old live with us!

We live a very active life... but I have been struggling to lose weight for 7 years...I was first told I had IBS in '96... in 2003 I found out I had gallbladder disease... grrrr I have resisted surgery (hasn't gotten that BAD yet) and have worked on healthier eating. Yup.... hasn't worked well...

I am sooo excited to have this support group and also the local group that I belong to to help me along...

Hi. Just started and just trying to figure out how to get around in this huge site. I'm 42, married with children (3), living in Boise ID. I'm an electrical engineer and sit in front of a computer all day long.

I used to hate having to hold my breath to tie my shoes. Now I have to hold my breath and can barely reach my laces to tie them. Hmm. Something wrong here.

I've tried to diet many times. Heck, I'll sometimes start three diets a day, after each meal. :-( Finally decided that it wasn't going to happen without some support. Luckily I just happened to stumble on a link to this site from a news site I was reading. I like what I'm seeing and look forward to receiving and giving some help.

Hello all. I'm 25 years old, living near Boston, and I have always struggled with my weight. A few years ago, I managed to lose about 30 pounds, and slip into a size eight, but the last year or two have been really rough on me and I've gone back to old, unhealthy living habits as a means of coping with the stress.

I've never been particularly athletic, and don't generally enjoy exercise for the sake of exercising. My boyfriend recently got me into rock climbing, which is a great workout, and a lot of fun. Unfortunately I can't afford it without him, and very rarely get to go--one of the many perils of long distance relationships. :-p

In any case, I'm here to get motivated to lose those 30 + lbs I gained back.

Hi everyone! My name is Rayna and I am a SAHM of a gorgeous baby boy. My husband is in the Army, so we'll be moving to Germany by the end of next month. We will be living in Baumholder for the next 3 years. I can't wait to get there b/c my husband is already there and I miss him sooo much. I'm 27 and still in school. I'm now going to Phoenix Online, so class is whenever I have time (when the baby sleep). I did SparkPeople a little while ago, but fell off the wagon. I can't wait to get started again.
