I came back to this group... Wish I weighed what I did when I joined SparkPeople but didn't become very active until the past year. I am making a new commitment to exercise every day and swim 4 times a week. With a new knee replacement 4 months ago, when I don't exercise I really get stiff and need to keep the good range of motion I have so far.... also need to be more diligent about staying within my food intake limits...gotta lose that weight I regained...

Welcome Harmonie. You may not have lost weight but have you checked your measurements? Sometimes as we exercise we tone up and gain a little muscle (which weighs more than fat) and though we weigh the same we have lost inches. Also you just came off several months of weight loss with WW so your bady may just be readjusting itself. Hang in there. It will come off.

Hello everyone! My name is Harmonie Im from Louisiana. Im a SAHM of two kiddos. Ive been with my husband for 6 years. Hes my skinny- cant gain weight- half that makes it a bit difficult sometimes but not on purpose.

I had heard about SP a while back and even checked it out but it wasnt for me at the time (I was doing WW online). Once I gave up Weight Watchers (after 13 months) I decided to look around a bit and found this amazing place again. It just seems so much more awesome this time around. lol Im completely in love with SP and the people and support here. I joined Sept 26 and I cant believe Im still going! I havent lost any weight in months but thanks to SP Im still working out and eating right because I know I'll be a healthier person by doing this. I've already told several people about this place (probably aorund 20) and I cant wait to get my SP shirt to spread the spark even more.

Hi everyone. My name is Marilyn and I live in Livonia, Mi. I first found SP about 1 and a half ago but did not get serious until September 24. I found out my cholestrol was high and the medicine did not seem to agree with me. So I decided the best fix was to just start eating healthy and see if I couldn't loose a few pounds. I love all the information available on this site and the people are all very supportive. I have lost 8.5 lbs and am feeling great. I am anxious to see my new chlosterol numbers next month.

My name is Linda and I live in Orillia, Ontario, Canada (just north of Toronto).

I joined on September 24th and have lost 13 lbs. so far. My first goal is 25 lbs. by the end of the year (should be early), 25 lbs. by the end of April (holiday time) and another 25 by my birthday at the beginning of August. I could probably stand to lose 15 more after that, but I will reconsider at that time.

Schedule it in for just 5 minutes a day and make yourself do it. After a few days of forcing yourself you will begin to want to do it and then you can start increasing it a little at a time. Many people are discouraged thinking they have to exercise 30 or more minutes at a time. Exercise in smaller increments is just as effective. I wish you success.

Thanks for the suggestions. I used to love working out. I think thats why I'm so boggled about this. Always took awhile for me to get started but once I did it was better. Just can't even seem to stay motivated for 2 days in a row. Yikes!! I'm sure I'll figure something out.

Find something you enjoy doing for exercise. For me it is the exercise bike. I think I would also like line dancing but I don;t know the moves. Start with just 5 min. a day. Once you see how much you enjoy it and how quickly those 5 min. go by, you just may want to do even more.

Well, Hi everyone! Sorry I got a late start posting here.

I'm Terri - 37 with two boys (Brayden, 5 and Andrew, 17 mos). I live in VA, in the foothills of the Blueridge Mountains.

I haven't lost my weight after having Andrew. I gained a lot wt with my first, but did Body for Life and got into the best shape I've been in. But, it seems to be a bit to difficult for me to stick with this time. I need something new and SP seems to be it! What a great site!

I am new also - married 2+ years, no kids (we've been trying, one of the reasons I want to lose weight).

I think this site is amazing. I'm doing a challenge at work with a few of the women I work with, everyone paid $25 and the person who loses the highest percentage of their own starting weight wins the pot ($150). I find I need something of a challenge to get me motivated, and I we found this site while searching for additional support tools.

I know this will be a huge asset to my journey towards becoming healthier and happier.

I donate the weight I lose to the Food Bank. For every pound of weight I lose, I donate a pound of food to my local food bank. I think it is good karma to give away the weight because I do not want it back.

Hello everyone, I thoughty I'd introduced myself a couple of days ago but I see I was mistaken. I've been looking at all of the wonderful tips and such on the site that I really havn't had time to do much posting.
At any rate I am here because I need to lose weight, for me, for my health, and for good. I recently found out that I have diabetes and that's not good so it's time to make a change for a healthier me.

Don't know how much I'll be posting...seems like so much info on these pages...I've just scratched the surface.

I'm Jo-Ann, 54, kids out of the house, work full-time.

I've successfully lost weight before, but this year was a year of upheaval...we moved and are renting until we build a house. Throughout that entire process (getting the house ready to sell, selling, buying land, finding a place to rent) and life (all the theatrics involved with kids and cats and work and husband and siblings)...well, the weight that I kept off for 3 years came back on.

Joined mainly to track my nutritional intake. Need to get healthier, stop putting garbage in my mouth.

What else? I show and breed maine coon cats, I enjoy quilting, and I started exercising this year, am training for a 60 mile breast cancer walk...also think I was using the walking as an excuse to eat like a truck driver.

emoticon Good evening all. I have to admit I'm feeling a little dazed and confused at the moment. Still trying to navigate the site ~ there is SO much great information! Seems like taking it slow is the motto which is right up my alley! I look forward to a lifetime with SP and meeting my goals. Also look forward to getting involved with the challenges. I am 42, a stay at home mom for the 1st time in my life, living in a new, very rural area where I haven't met any friends yet. Therefore exercise is a major challenge for me at the moment. Patti, put your mouse on "community" on top and then click on 'spark pages' from the list. Once there, click on 'edit my spark page'. At the very bottom of that page is where you can get your weight loss ticker. on the right hand side at towards the bottom is where you can personalize your signature.

My name is Jennifer and I am a 25 yo wife and mother of one precious little boy. I am an accountant for my lcoal newspaper. I am currently on Weight Watchers. That keeps me on track with my eating; but I was looking for something to help me with my fitness goals/questions so I joined Spark. I like everything I see so far.

Hello all. My name is Donnette and I have lost 6lbs in two weeks and am off to a great start. A friend turned me on to the site and so far I am glad to be here. I have a husband and two great kids and live in Wisconsin. I belong to Curves and am following their Weight Management program right now. So far it is working for me. Hi everyone! I just joined yesterday and I am determined to lose this extra weight before my 40th birthday next Sept. I quit smoking in May and have gained 30 lbs since then and Im so frustrated that I actually feel worse now than I did as a smoker. Im praying I have the willpower to stick with this.

Hi everyone, I am new this week, and just found this link on my sparkpage (how did I miss it?). Anyway, I am 41, a recently turned into SAHM (only because I am also a full-time caregiver to my husband). I realized that I needed to start taking better care of myself. Did a quick search on the net, and found this place. I have done fairly well so far (I think, anyways), but need to do more movement and exercise.

Hi Everyone.
Im a teacher living in London, UK.
My friend recommended that I try this page to shed a few kilos, so here goes.
I have never tried this sort of thing before so kind of feeling my way around at this moment. However, I think the tracking-system will be really helpful, because for me it is the tempting chips, cookies and snack I dont even think about myself that are the trickiest. If I am responsible for "reporting" them online I might start thinking about them...

Hello! I joined today after my fiance joined. He wants to lose 50 pounds, and while I shouldn't really lose more than 10, I do want to lead a healthier lifestyle, and I think it is important that I support him and join him in this.
