Swimming is good for weight loss--I lost 40 pounds. But it can also make you really hungry so you have to be careful not to undo your time in the pool. Breastroke can burn a lot of calories if you do it right! I see so many people at the pool who do such a lazy breastroke that they aren't burning any calories! Just make sure your heart rate gets up or you're breathing hard to get a good calorie burn.
With my tendonitis in my foot, I have been advised to swim and do other non-impact cardio. My husband is an avid Total Immersion swimmer, and now I am taking lessons once a week with other ladies. I just find it such a hassle with the getting wet, changing, going outside when it's cold, the boredom (need to get my Aquabeats going!). Any info regarding caloric burn doing breaststroke would be useful. Is swimming a good activity for weight loss? I feel like my heart will beat out of my chest after an hour of swimming, although I am pretty fit :)
