Jack, thanks. All too often I choose not to walk instead of doing what I can. I do get all tied up in trying to do what I think is expected of me. I will take your advice to heart.

I enjoy walking, but do not go fast, about 3 miles an hour. I know what Jack L said but I say if it hurts - you are doing it wrong :)

take it slow It is much better to walk 1/4 to 12 half mile today and for the next 10 them the push it and walk 1 mile today and do none for the next ten and that is what will happen

You do not need a parachute to skydive. You only need a parachute to skydive twice.

All of you runners are amazing to me! I am doing well just to walk 1/2 mile in the mornings! LOL I use to walk (fast) 3 miles in the morning and 3 miles at night but that was a long time ago! My ankles start burning after 1/2 mile now.

Movement is important, One good thing is if you are very heavy a little bit does a lot, when I started I was moving around an extra 150 pounds

for the last year I have not been motivated, would start, fall off, start, fall off, I am starting again today :)
Had a nice low fat omelet for breakfast and will go to the mall around noon and take a walk

One size does not fit all, I pick the systems that fit me, but this in no way should suggest that the choices any one else makes are not both good and valid

I'm guessing that, as I move more, it will get easier. I'm discovering muscles--via soreness--that I obviously haven't used for quite a while.

Hey Kathy:

We can all move more!
I'm 51 and except when the Ole joints hurt (and they hurt A LOT lately), I still think I'm a spring chicken...

It's great to hear about all this movement. Maybe I'll try to do more walking...the other just won't happen for me at 66, almost 67.

Blessings!

A twenty minute 5K is not much slower than an Elite pace. How fast are your miles now? Yeara ago I ran regularly (YEARS AGO...), and even though I was thin and could run 1/2 Marathons (11 minute miles), the fastest mile I EVER ran was 8 minutes and change- and that was in isolation, not a whole 5K.

Be careful or you may hurt yourself if you push too hard too fast. emoticon
