Hi! My name is Jesica, Im 24 years old, and Im from Buenos Aires, Argentina. I live in a tiny but cozy apartment with my fiance and our cute puppy (who's first birthday is tomorrow!!). I currently work 3 times a week in an office, but probably will be leaving soon because I want to focus in finishing my studies. Im a biology major, and if everything goes well, I would be graduating in 2 years. Im currently 178 lb. When I was a little kid I didn't had a weight problem. I always liked to eat, but I was active so I didn't struggle too much during middle school. In high school I started to gain weight, but then started to play a dancing game in the video game place near my house, so I was really fit (I was 108 lb!!). But a couple of years later the place closed, and I started a really sedentary life. At the end of high school I was at 130 lb (my ideal weight would be between 121 and 130 lb). I didn't realize how much weight I was gaining. After 5 years, I was at 149 lb, and even if I was a overweight, I still felt comfortable with my body (I just was a little chubby). And then I met my fiance, and we started dating. He also has a weight problem, and loves to eat like me. Besides, I love baking and cooking, so Im always trying new recipes and making my boyfriend happy with yummy things. 3 years later, Ive gain 30 lbs and I feel like there is no turning back. Ive tried diet, exercise, etc but cant keep it up at the long run, because I always quit when I dont see any results. But now Im scared for my health, and I want to change things. So this time, no quitting! Well, that was a long story! Basically, I really need people to talk to, that are going through them same things so we can support each other. Im really hoping to find friends!! Sorry for my bad english!!

Hello my name is Shay and I'm a 36 year young freshman in college studying Hospitality Management/Travel and Tourism. I attend Chemeketa Community College online (campus located in Salem, OR) but I live in Mississippi. (I was born and raised in California) I decided to go back to school last year because I was bored. I really didn't have a whole lot to do and I'm a seasonal employee and it is currently layoff season.
My first term I was doing great! My exercise and workout schedule was really working, term two everything went downhill. I started a part-time job which left me so tired that I couldn't find the energy to exercise. The few pounds I lost, I put back on and I did notice that my snacking habits started to get out of control. Now I'm back at SparkPeople because I need to get my healthy diet and exercise back in my daily routine.

My name is Angel. I am new to spark people and I am currently in my senior year at UMUC, as a Psych major. I am starting my weight loss journey because I'm ready now. In the past I had tried but not with the determination and focus I have now. Weight Loss Goal is 84lbs. Baby steps. More imprtant than the weight is that I see an overall improvement in my health and energy level.

It gives you that extra push that you need and it also helps with giving you a place to vent and receive some positive feedback from it. And balancing school, work, weight-loss, family and friends can be very hard but it can be done. So continued success to you.

Welcome to the team. We are really happy to have you apart of the team. I wish you more than success; I hope for you, a total mind-body transformation. Some quick advice: Life is not as complicated as we think. We struggle but we should not be so quick to internalize that struggle. With hard work and much dedication you can accomplish anything that you set out to accomplish. I can totally relate to your situation with your school. When I was a freshman in college my school also did not have a gym for students and the food selection was not always the best. I would suggest that for exercise you could get a room in the school; maybe a common area with a television (maybe you have them in your dorms) and post some flyer around the school to get the other students involved and host exercise classes using exercise DVDs. You could have a Billy Blanks Tae Bo night, a Biggest Loser Evening, a Jillian Michaels special and the list is endless. As far as the food goes; if you have a refrigerator in your dorm room you could go weekly shopping and purchase simple foods such as milk, cereal, lunch meat, bread, and frozen entrees from lean cuisine, or lean pockets. These foods tend to be very inexpensive. As for me, Iím not much of a cook so I tend to purchase these foods all the time and it has been working rather well; it is easy and keeps you very structured. Just know that most things are not always as hard as they seem. Most of the time the mind is what causes us to believe that the possible is impossible. You can succeed in this weight-loss journey; you just have to believe it. Donít let it take control of you, you have to control it. Feel free to ask any questions and if you just need someone to vent to I am always available by email; with technology now days itís easy to get in touch with anyone because everything comes directly to your cell phone. My personal email is firstname.lastname@example.org
Much Success Peace, Love & Blessings Brittanie

Hi! My name is Ravin and this is my third day on Spark People. I joined this site looking for support and motivation. Since my early teens i have struggled with my weight and now that i am in college my weight is at an all time high, a whopping 207 lbs and I'm only 5'2"! I am not happy with the way i look and this has caused me to fall into a deep depression that is affecting many aspects of my life including my schoolwork. I no longer look into mirrors or take pictures because i literally don't recognize myself. I'm disgusted by not only what i see but also the knowledge that i have the ability to lose weight. When i was 16 i weighed 135 on a heavy day. Now only three short years later i am 70 pounds heavier. My 2011 resolution is to lose at least 35 pounds by the end of the year. But i have no idea where to start. My school does not have workout equipment, and every student is forced to get a meal plan unless they have doctor's note. The meals are fried or greasy and the vegetables float in grease. As you probably know i cant cook my own meals since i live in a dorm so it makes it hard to follow a diet plan. Can anyone give me some tips or advice when it come to meal planning in college on a budget? And quick yet efficient workouts with out a gym? And as always all motivation is welcome! :)

Hey, I'm Crystal and I am a new member to Spark People. I am a an aspiring mathematician at a university in NC. I hope to achieve some weightloss before I graduate in 2012. My main reason for weightloss is because I want to look on the outside the way I feel on the inside. I enjoy clothing and dresses and looking nice and sometimes It's hard to look good when you don't feel it. So I hope to change that! I wish you all major success!

Hi, I'm Tan in Arizona. I am a doctoral student working on my dissertation. My goal is to have the proposal done by the end of this week; I have been working on it all year. I hope to be done with research and discussion by April or May. I'm excited to meet others who are trying to balance work, school, and family without losing it!
I was thin for most of my life, and then I moved to Arizona and got lazy. I went from 170 to over 200 lbs in a year! Now I'm down to 205, trying to get back down to 170. I did it once on the Atkins diet, but then my sweet tooth caught up with me. I am 53 with fibromyalgia, so I know its not going to be easy. My husband, loving as he is, is not very supportive. He likes being big and eats any and everything in sight and always wants me to join him. I gave up most alcohols except for the occasional glass of wine after a long study haul, but cannot get off the Hershey's chocolate and Coca Cola! I know my sistas can help me out! I'll be happy to share my life experiences with all of you.

Hi everyone! This is my first day on the site. I graduate in a couple weeks. While at home I went to the dr for my annual check up. Of course I was put thru the torture of being made to step on the scale in the not so private hallway of the office. I realized just how much I had let myself go, just from the previous year's check up. I had gained about 15-20 lbs that year. At the end of this month another one of my siblings is undergoing gastric by-pass surgery. If I don't start now and lose these 40-50 lbs I'm afraid of what the consequences may be.

I'm a first year doctoral student who has completely fallen off tracks ince school started. Looking for others who have successfully figured out how to juggle it all, and still have the will power to eat right and exercise.

Hello, my name is Lisa. I am 41 and taking Pharmacy Technician at John A. Logan. This is only a single class, but if things work out, I may think of taking on Pharmacy classes to be a pharmacist. I am trying to lose 35-40 more pounds; I've lost a total of 45 so far. I work full time, married, have a son, and now am taking this class. I am having a time trying to organize my life just to make it work. Is there any suggestions.

Hello BBQ College Students,
My name is Iris, and I am a soon to be 28 year old (Sept 4) DeVry University online college student majoring in Technical Management from Detroit, Michigan. I am new to Sparkpeople...so far I have found this site to be a really great benefit for me...My health is a major concern for me, whereas I am too thick (hence my login name) for my height of 5'1" and I am a pre-diabetic. So..lifestyle changes are a must for me! So far..due to a change in my eating habits I have lost about 40 pounds and have about another 90-100 to go. I've joined a gym to help increase my activity..but rarely go...due to school and managing my online ebay business and since I sit in front of a computer all day, I tend to snack alot . I know I can see what is out here to help me; which is why I decided to join Sparkpeople. I am in a wedding next year and want to look my best! Any and all support or recommendations is certainly appreciated.

Good Evening, I was a member of spark before and quit for a stupid reason. (A man). I'm back now. Other than that. I'm Tammy from Brooklyn Ny, 30 years old, and pursuing my BA in psychology this year. I want to look good at graduation.

I've been in school for a few years pursuing my Bachelors degree - but my major has changed from English to Psychology to Graphic Art to Paralegal, and back to English. Sigh. Never give up!

Hi! My name is Aimee and I am a 27 year old college student at University of California San Diego. I am majoring in sociology with a minor in economics, my favorite research area is globalization and development, specifically in Africa. I also work part-time as a teacher's assistant. I have been married for almost 6 years and during that time have somehow managed to gain almost 40 lbs that I need to lose. I have tried spark people before, but have never been successful. I have decided that this time I am going to post on the message boards and not go it alone. I look forward to getting to know some of you!!
