Thank you KAZZLE3 for the encouragement. I do feel like crying every time I cook for my family and then I have to cook something else for myself!

Thank you for reminding me that I will feel GREAT and HEALTHY and that it is worth not cheating!

Welcome Back - I cried a lot when I had to give up gluten, it has been so hard. But I have not cheated since Feb and the major improvements to my health has kept me from cheating. Now, I no longer crave gluten and can even buy pastry for my hubby without becoming evil. -- Just trying to say that the longer you go without it the easier it gets, especially if you remember how amazing it feels to be gluten free. Best of luck.

CLOV3R and Annette, thank you so much for your words of encouragement! I've spent some time this morning reading through this teams message board and have found it very informative and inspirational. I needed reminding about the damage gluten can do to my body.

Hi Heather, My name is Annette.. I became the new co-team leader about 1 month ago. While trying to learn the site and set goals for the team I became upset and frustrated with some members so I quit.
Then they were begging me to come back, not the ones that upset me, but great people like Clov3r, and Otterdotter and 1grnthmb, Grannypat... great people.
They claim I have been very helpful with them.
Take a look at our team goal. Put 1 in the box if you remained gluten free for the day.. if you did not remain gluten free for a day, don't put anything.
I started that goal, because unlike most people on this team, I don't get symptoms.. so i eat gluten. Not very much but I am not completely gluten free.
Just because I don't get the symptoms doesn't mean it isn't killing me. Because of my binging last year I now have to go for colonoscopies every year.
They found two serated polyps... not good.
I still have a hard time with remaining gluten free.
Shame on me. So I am on here for support as well even though I am a co-team leader.
Welcome Back and keep in touch.
I will add you as my friend as I do with most of my team.

Hi Heather, and welcome back!!

From my own experience, I do understand exactly what you mean! The smells and tastes! It's mind boggeling! But, trust me on this one.... a year from now, if your stick to the correct foods and diet, you will not crave gluten any more!
I know some say not to find substitutes for stuff you miss, but it worked for me. I loved a perfect pasta dish....... and today, I still do! without the wheat and gluten and dairy! It's wonderful to feel good and still be able to eat what you like.
For the first few months though, I "made" everyone in my household eat and taste the glutenfree stuff - to get their support and to get me into the routine. Now it's much easier. They know, they understand and they support.
Good luck to you and join us on the challenge.

I joined this team a few months ago but completely fell of the GF wagon shortly after. Today was my first day back to GF. I'm so tired of how horrible I feel!

I'm gluten intolerant, not celiac or allergic, but I have several miserable reactions to it including sick stomach, all over body swelling from water retention, fatigue and somewhat blurred vision. This go around of indulging on gluten I've experienced some numbing in the extremities.

I want to stop ruining my body! I'll just have to take it one day at a time and hopefully I can be accountable to this team!

I need support and encouragement because I find gluten to be like a drug for me. I crave it. I get a high from it while eating it that I simply can't resist. I always regret eating it but sometimes I crave it so desperately! I know this needs to be a life change and I'm ready to do it now but I know it will get harder as the days go by until I can "detox" from it.

Thanks for listening.
Heather
