Me too! I have not had that constant craving since I started- 10 days now. Before I was hungry all the time. I would be eating a meal and thnking about what I could eat when I was done. Now I don't even think about it.
I do find though that when I am hungry, I am ravenous and I need to eat right away. But I am satisfied quicker too and not eating as much at my meal.
Lastnight I actually put some of my chicken back becasue I couldnt eat it.

Oh. That is good to know and quite true. As everyone else has said, peanut butter is good and so is salmon.

No, I've been tracking what I eat, and I'm just fine calorie-wise. I met with a nutritionist on Tuesday and found out that since I am eating fewer carbs since I cut out gluten, I need to eat more fat. It was quite the revelation, finding out that the "low fat" craze actually isn't very good for us. She said that since fat keeps us feeling full longer, when people eat less fat, they get hungry faster and then eat more. She recommended that I try to get a little fat in whenever I eat, but to focus on plant-based fats such as olive oil and nuts.

Yes, It happened to me even before i went gluten free, but even more so after I went wheat/gluten/dairy free. Quite a struggle every day to keep up the calories, because now eating more healthy, i get fuller quicker and dont feel hungry most the time. A bit of advice would help here too, please.

This may be a dumb question, but, since you have cut gluten out of your diet, is it possible, you are not eating enough calories?

One problem with most gluten free products is they are high in carbs and low in fiber. The fiber makes you feel full, I always make sure I use Sorghum, brown rice and bean flours in the mixes that I make and buy. They make the products you make healthier and more satisfying and really helps to stop the hunger felling. You can also use millet and amaranth flours in your baking to add the fiber. I have also started adding about a half a cup of flax meal to what ever I am making and the really adds a lot of fiber. Fiber is the key to feeling full and what your body is telling you that it needs by you feeling hungry all the time.

Pats idea of a spoon full of peanut butter is also a very good suggestion.

I have also found that if I do not start the day with some protein then I well feel hungry all day. The left over meat from the night before (just a small portion like 2 oz. is what I need to feel satisfied.

I am a South Beach person so giving up bread and the like was not too bad. But I also have a sensitivity to eggs and milk. I have been eating a scrambled egg with cheese on whole wheat tortilla for a year, every day. Mo wonder I feel like crap.
Now I have to eat fruit and rice waffles, rice milk for breakfast. By 10 oclock I am starving.
Anyway, whenever you got hungry on South Beach the answer was more protein.
Try a spoonfull of peanut butter or some nuts.
If you can eat dairy, a cheese stick or slice of turkey or roast beef rolled in a slice of cheese is a good snack and the hunger will go away.

KBizzle, I think that's the key. I was already doing high fiber, but not high protein. I've been adding more protein the past few days, and it seems to help a lot! I'm not really having cravings for bread, etc, because I know it will make me feel sick; I was just hungry all the time!

When I first quit gluten, I baked almost every day! i made brownies and cookies and bread... for me, it was a mental thing. Once I had it there, I didn't even have to eat it. But without it, I felt sorry for myself, and deprived; I spent all my time thinking about all the things I couldn't have and how unfair that was (even though I didn't eat much of that stuff before)
For me, it still helps a lot to focus on the things I can have that I do enjoy, and always have some around. It prevents pigouts! :-)

Similar thing happened to me. I was not actually hungry, but "fancied something all the time". That's when I started baking my own breads, biscuits and cookies. So every once in a while i over indulge a bit, and the "hungry feel" goes away. Probably a way your body tells you something is missing - bad culprit.

Hi, I'm a college student and new to the gluten-free thing, as I just found out that I have a sensitivity to it. Its been about a week now, and I'm doing my best to drink lots of water, and eat lots of protein and fiber. But I am hungry all of the time now! Did anybody else experience this when they went gluten-free, and if so, what did you do to fix this?
