Welcome! I know what you mean about the Northeast....I live in SE Massachusetts and my son and his wife live a block from the atlantic ocean. They've been hit hard...we all have. Do what you can with the exercise. Stressing about it will only serve to discourage your efforts. I have counted steps and it worked for me though now I use a GPS type pedometer...no step counting and I only use it when I go out to walk. I've used a couple of different types of step counting pedometers....and I found them helpful. What I found the most useful were the indoor walking/exercise programs that I could pop onto my computer or TV and use when I had the time. Several of us on the team do that because we get busy or because the weather is uncooperative. I think the best advice I could offer you right now is to relax......you can't do this wrong unless you quit so you'll get there! If you post on the Coffee Chat thread and check in there from time to time you'll get to meet the wacky chatters...err, walkers......Welcome! I'll be chatting with you!

Welcome Mazie. Hang in there and take care of your health. Do not beat yourself up for things that are beyond your control. I personally count all my steps. I have a pedometer that I put on the moment I get up and take off when I go to bed. I do all I can to get as many steps in including things like marching in place while waiting for the microwave. Take a deep breath, tomorrow is a new day and you can do and most importantly - YOU ARE WORTH IT!

I am hoping to get some motivation to get myself moving. I have not been on SparkPeople long. I have really bombed out the last two weeks. I work in insurance auto claim in the Northeast and we have been swamped. Working too many hours and not taking a break. So I am of course getting sick and need to get back on track. I do like walking and frankly your name, of all the walking teams, caught my attention. DO you count steps? Will I need to get a new pedometer? My old one got broken in a recent move I made. Please let me know about any challenges.
