Welcome to Wacky Walkers. I have 4 children of my own--and now 2 grandchildren, ages 2months and 2 years that I take care of while their parents are in grad school. It keeps me plenty busy as I'm sure your children keep you. I also set little goals for myself and then challenge myself to keep on going--just a little more the next time. It worked for me pretty well. Grab a cup of coffee, or your favorite beverage, and come on to the chat thread and "sit a spell" and chat!

HI! i am new in here just joined today. i am a 28 year old mom of 2 and future step mom to another. i like walking i like it alot and i set lil mini goals formyself everytime i go for a walk. if i did a mile in a certain amount of time i wish to beat that time. and it usually works fairly well. i jut have a hard time getting motorvated to get up get dressed ect....LOL well i hope everyone starts off witha good week! look forward to hearing from all of you!

Hi everyone! I'm a 50 year old (20 at heart) single mom of a teenager (16 year old boy) and owned by 3 cats. I am fairly new to the site and lovin' it here, and this team looks like fun! I've been walking every day since I joined, and have made very surprising progress! I'm looking forward to getting to know you and being a productive member of the team. emoticon

Hello Patty,
I work at a drive-in restaurant, it's a seasonal business where you work non-stop without breaks for 10+ hours, 5 days a week, for 5 months at the hottest time of year. It's a tourist-dependant business. Oh yeah, and on one of my days off, I spend half of it helping an elderly couple who are also my landlords(Which is all year long).

Hi Christine,
My name is Patty--I am one of the co-leaders of this team. What type of work do you do that keeps you busiest in the summer with time off in the winter? Walking is great exercise and perhaps you'd be able to keep up with it during breaks? during the summer. It's easier to stick with something once you've extablished a habit. My body craves exercise now and I get very antsy thinking about fitting the exercise in daily now. I would never had believed it was possible for me to actually crave exercise. It actually gives me more energy so even when I am tired, I still do it and I have never regretted exercising. I always feel better afterwards--it's all in the endorphins. Anyway, I look forward to getting to know more about you!

My name is Christine, I'm 28 with a demanding job that leaves me with little time off in the summer and lots of time off in the winter. I have been walking on and off for a few years now. My job makes it hard to stick to a walking program, bacause when summer hits i don't have much time and when I do, I don't have the energy. I'm hoping that I can find the motivation here to keep going when the going gets tuff.

Hello and welcome

Make sure to check out the January Miles/step challenge. You and "fred" can track how your doing by making a personal goal for now thru Jan.19. Then we will have another one for the last half of the month.

As you loss those 15 pounds, make sure to add them to the team loss for 2008. Just post and add to the total post before you.

Good luck and Now take Fred for a walk.

What a fun group!

I lost 42 pounds abuot 2 years ago (mostly by walking on my treadmill) and have since gained back about 15. It's time to be a better role model for my daughters and get rid of the excess. At this point I have about 30 to lose.

Assuming that there will be some decent TV on that I can distract myself with while I walk, I'll be back to walking on Fred. Fred is my treadmill...named after Fred Flintstone as he doesn't have a motor :-)
