I'm trying to get serious about weight loss here. I've run a lot for a while now -- years. But, I've slowly added on pounds. I need to get 20 off to be a really happy runner. I need accountability -- I think. I hope it'll help anyway. So, I was looking for a community where we all sort of work together. Good luck to you all. Thanks!

Welcome aboard!
Running is mildly addictive... ;)
But I found that every body has it's niche. Some are built for speed, some for endurance, some to compete and some just to enjoy the great outdoors. While you are learning, you will dabble in some of all of the above. And then eventually, you will find your happy zen zone - what it is about running that works for you.

For me, running is a moving medititation. When I don't get to run, I lose all balance.
I am not the fastest (although I can still take my class when I want to), I am not the slowest; but joy in the ability, the activity, the moving is what keeps me going.

Enjoy Your Journey! ;)

Laura

Hey everyone, I'm not new to Sparkpeople, and I've been running in some fashion or another for over 6 months now, but I am new to the whole "community participant" thing. So it took me a while to find an inner athlete, and it turns out he's a runner. I love running, and everything about it. But I'm new to the intricacies involved in how one gets better at it, proper training, technique, etc. I've completed two 5ks with the better of two times clocking in at 30:26, and am eyeing a half-marathon in September. So that's about it, glad to be here!
