Hi! I am 58 years old (for a little while!) and I have a lot of weight to lose. I have been overweight for almost all of my life, and I have never been successful at losing. This time is going to be different!
I'm using every tool I can get my hands on, and reaching out on this and other sites for help from folks who share my goals of eating healthier and moving more.

More specifically, in the short term, I have set a weight loss goal of just 19 pounds to start with. This week, I am working on getting my steps up to over 1000 a day average, and keeping a food diary for the very first time.

I know that I have a very long way to go, but I need to focus on small goals that I can succeed at in a short time.

I live in Northeast Richland County.

Hey ya'll...i'm 31 from West Columbia and back actively on S.P. This year is about a lot of goals for me...my main 2 ~ (1) loosing about 50 ponds and (2) getting pregnant!

My mini goal for this month is to drink 8 glasses of water a day (if not more), log in every day to track/blog/update my page, and to walk 30-60 mins everyday on my treadmill...

Hi Everyone,

My goal is to lose 2 lbs a week. Stay on track and keep moving.

I have a final goal of getting back to the weight I was when I got married some 47 yrs ago. It will take me a while but I am losing and I feel great.


So far I have lost 15 lbs and have not over killed on eating or exercise. but am doing it slow to keep the weight off. So far it is working.

The goal I have for now is to track the food I eat. I am exercising so I'm not gaining any weight, but I am not losing any either. I find that when I enter what I eat on my phone using SparkPeople, I see that I am reaching my calorie goal and make an effort to chose better foods. So that is my challenge this week -- get into the habit of tracking my food intake.

My friend (and training partner) recently challenged me with a simple task: Write down 10 goals that I want to accomplish this year and none could be from my bucket list. Talk about a challenge … whew!

So I decided to share this one:
At the end of every day I need to be happy with my accomplishments, no matter how small they may appear to be.

...oh and to do at least one pull-up unassisted

I AM CHALLENGING MYSELF TO STAY WITH THIS EXERCISE PROGRAM AND NOT GET TIRED OF EXERCISING. I HAVE TO STAY MOTIVATED. THAT IS MY BIGGEST CHALLENGE.

Hi, I'm Michele

I always exercise on the weekends so my goal this week is to exercise during the week. I have no excuses because I have a treadmill in my living room. I am just being lazy and it has to stop. I am doing the 15 minute challenge while watching TV and other workouts.

Also, 8 or more cups of water a day. I usually count by ozs so my goal is at least 64 ozs.

This is the year to get to Oneunderland.

Hi everyone ..... My name's Kristie. I'm 31 years old and live in the columbia area. Yesterday was the official start of me eating healthy and exercising ...... My ultimate goal is to make this a habit that I carry throughout my life and to lose 80 pounds. But for now I'm taking it one day & one week at a time (lol). So my first mini goals for the week are to drink 8 glasses of water a day (which is hard for some reason), make better food choices & control portion sizes, Walk for 15 min or more a day ...... Plus I will be doing other exercises as well. I think its a good start and hopefully I will be able to build on that and accomplish what I have set out to do.

Hi, Columbia Sparkers....I have been a member of this site for a few years but only visited it a couple of times before last month. A doctors visit has kindled a spark in me to lose to extra 40 I have hanging on my body (mostly in the middle). My goal right now is simple- track everything I consume and stay within the ranges on my nutrition page.

I will add exercise goals soon...but for now I'm sticking to this one important goal.

Kristen, Is it because of there is no time? Even if you park farther than you need to, take the stairs instead of an elevator...that is giving you erercise emoticon

I'm doing the Spark 10-minute daily exercise streak challenge. I'm pretty good at getting in a long walk or swim on the weekends, but I have been almost totally unsuccessful at fitting in weekday exercise.

Have you set any kind of goals for yourself and if so, what are they? I believe sharing them can help others. Mine is that I work on 1 lbs at a time and to do some kind of exercise, no matter how small every day. What is yours?
