Hospitals are terrific for traumatic care; for acute care. They do a really, really good job in saving lives when it’s a sudden bleeding emergency. But in terms of chronic care, they’re terrible; (that is) in terms of the illnesses that most people have, endure, that cost the most money, that last the longest and ultimately die from. -Dr. Andrew Saul

Hi Of the Mitten emoticon welcome to SparkPeople, and the Portland team.

This site -does- have quite a lot to offer, and it can be a bit overwhelming. You might find this link helpful.

It explains a few of the tools and helps you get started.

If you have questions, don't hesitate to ask. We'll be glad to help if we can, and/or direct you to the right place or person for assistance if need be.

Hello everyone,

I just joined 2 days ago and am new to this type of on-line tracking system. The site kind of a stimulus overload so far that I am fumbling through.

I am trying to take the mindful eating part one day/choice at a time and stay consistently active throughout the week. So far so good - but it the long haul that of coarse that worries me! Because of some health quirks I have very hard time losing weight though I am a champ at putting it on (!) so I know it is going to be long road to reaching my goal...

Being new to this - I am honestly not exactly sure how to best utilize this Sparkpeople system and the special groups and how to stay motivated through little to no results so any suggestions people have would be greatly appreciated.

I really want to reach my goals so am reaching out in hopes that maybe this group support with keep me going.

Thank you!
