Hi everyone! I joined the team yesterday and am really excited to have some local people to talk and compare notes with about what works for getting fit and healthy. I'm the kind of person that finds it easier to keep on track and motivated if I have lots of people who share in the experience to gab with, which is why I joined Spark People. My big goal is to lose 50 pounds. I want to get stronger and have better cardiovascular endurance. I'm mostly vegan, and this year I really want to start incorporating a lot more locally grown stuff into my diet. That will be a fun goal to work on, with all the local farmers markets that should be starting up here soon I'll have lots to chose from! In the really long term, I eventually want to be fit enough to hike the Pacific Crest Trail from one end to the other. For now, I just need to work on getting prepared for the Shamrock Run!
I live in NE as well - think Madison High School, Rose City Golf course, that area. I belong to Giant's Gym, so won't be much good as a gym buddy for you. I'm a member of the Rock and Roll Portland Half Marathon team here on Spark. You should join up!
Checking in and hoping to meet some local people I can connect to this coming year who share the desire to improve health, nutrition, and fitness and hopefully lose some weight. I have about 100 lbs to lose, am 42, have two adult children and a toddler. I work part time and live with all of my children and the father of my youngest child. So, my life is a lot complicated and chaotic.
I'm planning on trying to walk the Portland Rock n Roll half Marathon with TEAM in Training on May 20th and would like to connect with others who are willing to go walking with me. I live in the N/NE Portland area between Emanuel Hospital and Lloyd Center.
