Thanks everyone!
I wish I had known about the Race For the Homeless earlier! I have to work next weekend to cover for people out on vacation.
I'll keep checking in here for more race opportunities. My sister will be here in Sept and she'll want to do a race or two while she's here.
I think we're planning on doing the Race for the Cure for sure.

Hi Linda! There's not a lot of action here either but we do try and keep the race events and other happenings up to date. Would love to see you at the Race for the Homeless next weekend. Hope you are out enjoying this wonderful weather.

Hey Linda, welcome! emoticon Glad to have you with us!

Check out the Race Events thread - many of those listed there are walks as well as runs, so maybe you'll find something that suits your fancy.

A handful of us Sparkers will be meeting up at Race for the Homeless walk/run in Vancouver on the 6th! We'd love to meet up with you as well if you'd like!

Welcome to the team! Vancouver is close enough. There are walks all over with the AVA (American Volkswalking Association) they are not a charity but their walks get you into great areas and gives you different scenery. Their website is www.ava.org or walkoregon.org

Hi, I'm Linda.
I actually live in Vancouver, been here for 10 years now. I'm from Oregon, born in Portland, raised in Hillsboro.

I'm not new to Sparkpeople. I've been a sparker for close to 5 years now. I love this site! And definitely spend more time here than I should- LoL

Anyway, I thought since Vancouver is so close to Portland I would join your team. I'm on the Vancouver team, but there's not a lot of action there.

I'm not a runner, but I would definitely like to do more 5k walks for charity...who knows, maybe someday I'll consider the whole running thing more.

Okay, that's pretty much it for now...enjoy the sunshine while we have it emoticon
