Hospitals are terrific for traumatic care; for acute care. They do a really, really good job in saving lives when it’s a sudden bleeding emergency. But in terms of chronic care, they’re terrible; (that is) in terms of the illnesses that most people have, endure, that cost the most money, that last the longest and ultimately die from. -Dr. Andrew Saul

Welcome to the team. You have come to the right place to get it all together. There is a lot of material to educate yourself and put you in the right direction. The main key is consistency. Make several short-term attainable goals. If I can do this I know you can. I have lost 60 lbs since Jan, this year. You can do this.

Hi Everyone,
I am hoping that Sparkpeople, is going to help me on my journy of becoming healthier. I hadn't been taking my own health very seriously, I was more concerned with suceeding at work and making sure my family was getting what they needed. Well the last 3 years have really shown me how scattered I really was, until I couldn't get out of bed for days started missing work, my kids assemblies, concerts and keeping up on home chores. Through the course of several Dr. visits I was diagnosed with diabetes, depression, anxiety, high cholesteral, high blood pressure and 100 pounds over weight, (the dr. only verified that last one, I already knew about it) I take eight medications to get through the day and I am hoping to improve my health to the point of only having to take half that amount. One of the mothers in my youngest class mentioned that she had lost 80 pounds on Sparkpeople and that it was great and easy to use. So I am ready to get it together and succeed at taking care of myself so I can take care of my family.
