Hi Jo...I see Joann pretty much answered your question as to where La Luz is...it is a pretty long hike either way you do it whether up or down but it is beautiful up there...that would be one to do when you have no plans for the day to take your time and enjoy nature...

Hi Val, thank you so much for the welcome :) I'm happy to meet you also. La Luz is not a hike I would do on a regular basis...heck I haven't done it in a while...been quite a few months actually and I about died lol...I couldn't believe I hiked it up AND down at one time years ago. I am determined to do it again soon tho. There are other trails that are enjoyable and scenic...if you're ever wanting to just get out and enjoy the day, i'm here :)or whatever you might be up for...you take care and thank you again for the welcome

Welcome KarolJ1. I can't do the La Luz trail because I've got MS, which sometimes causes me trouble with walking/hiking and always makes me pretty unsteady. But I'm happy to meet you anyway. Good luck with your weight loss and other health related goals.

There was much rejoicing!

Wow! Joann, thanks for the information! Once my leg stops being so wonky (torn ligament), I'm going to start doing some walking on the trails up the mountain. Who knows, maybe I'll be one of the crazy ones doing the run! (Okay, maybe just a fast walk...!)

La Luz goes up the face of the Sandia's. I've walked down it (many years ago) never more than a couple miles up and back. It can be very hot this time of year until you get up in the trees. There are even some (many) crazy folks who race up it. http://www.laluztrailrun.org/ Joann

Hi there! Welcome back to Spark, glad you decided to post. I'm still hoping to see 175 sometime this year! I've got a ways to go, but I'd love to do some walking sometime. My work schedule is chaotic, but I should be having Thursdays off regularly now, unless something comes up and they need me. I usually work on Saturdays, but that's a fluid situation too. Where is the La Luz trail? I just moved out here in late September and haven't really found where the good hiking paths are. I live in the NE quadrant of town, just off Menaul, up from Juan Tabo. I don't bike ride (think Artie Johnson's character on "Laugh In" back in the '70's) but I love to walk.

Hi all,
I've been a member of SP for a while I just haven't been on in a very long time...I decided this weekend that I would start this week and continue my goal and stick to it this time. When I started last June I was 175...I am currently 141 but a few months ago I was at 134 so I've gained. I've done well in maintaining but want to get to my goal of 125 lbs. I would like to see if anyone is interested in hiking like the La Luz trail or maybe going on a bike ride down by the bosque on Saturdays maybe...or just get out and DO something...I normally have a friend that likes to join me on Saturdays but is currently doing OT at our work. Well, nite everyone and if anyone is interested, let me know :)
