Hiya, just thought I'd chime in. I'm from Chicago and play on a team here as well, it's so much fun! I'm also a big Blackhawks fan, which means I think the Dead Wings are evil ;) Looks like I might be a bit outnumbered here!
I also sometimes like the Oilers and used to tolerate the Canucks but the Canucks and Hawks seem to be getting a bit feisty and now I think I only like the Canucks because of their awesome jerseys (I like the blue/green ones with the hockey stick).
Enough from me, here's to hoping the Hawks squeeze into the playoffs! :)
Hi, I'm Laurie and I'm 36 years old. I am married and have 2 children. I live in Ontario Canada and love to play hockey! I grew up playing competitive ringette for years and just started playing hockey 6 years ago. I love it! I've played women's rec hockey in the past but mostly just play tournaments these days. Hoping to join a more competitive league next year.I also play pick up with a great group of guys once a week. I travel with this group to Kentucky every year for a friendship tournament. Great Fun! My husband also plays hockey and we enjoy playing together in one co-ed tournament every year. My 7 year old son plays hockey and my 4 year old daughter is destined for the sport as well!
"Hockey players are great at the game of life...because they know how to play hurt!"
LOL, yes, I follow a ton of teams. It's more that I follow my favorite players to whatever team they're on. It makes the season a lot more fun, because there's always a game to watch. And if one team loses... another one will usually win :)
Glad to see so many replies already! I'm watching the Devils play the Hurricanes right now, so I thought I'd check in here. It looks like there are a lot of Western Conference people here, don't know as much about the teams out there...but I do like the Canucks! I started keeping an eye on them when Brendan Morrison went there. Glad to hear that Luongo is going to be with his wife instead of playing hockey. I hear about too many pro athletes missing that because the game is more important! I haven't played hockey since before Christmas. My team takes the 2 weeks off around Christmas, then I had laser eye surgery last week and couldn't play this week. I'm looking forward to getting back on the ice. I have a game next weekend, so I've been trying to find time to still get some exercise in... There's no exercise as fun as hockey though!!
Hey, Sleeping Beauty! It's been a long time! It was great to see that Luongo got the goalie honors. I didn't know that about his wife. I hope everything turns out ok and they have a healthy little "Goalie, Jr" soon. Joanna
Im Liesl from Seattle. I grew up in Rochester, NY and Detroit, so I'm quite the Wings and Sabre's fan (their farm team was our local hockey team.) Since the great Wings migration, I've started following a few other teams, like Anaheim and Columbus.
I used to be an athlete, back in the day, concentrating on equestrian 3 day eventing, but has so many injuries that I couldn't keep going. 15 years later, I'm starting to play hockey again and am working through the neighborhood training facility. Hopefully I can develop enough that I won't be embarassed to play next season.
I'm looking forward to getting to know everyone and watching us all meet our goals!
Hi, Melissa. I'm Gail, from Vancouver, BC. Naturally I'm a Canucks fan. What do you think of the ALL STAR starters this year? Our goalie, Luongo, was chosen but decided to spend the week with his pregnant wife who's in Florida with her folks instead. (Apparently the pregnancy is "delicate".) P.S. Hi, Joanna.
I didn't know there was a hockey page! I play rec hockey on a women's team here in NY. I love to play and watch hockey, so I'm up for any discussion about it! I'm a NJ Devils fan (the farm team was here in Albany for many years.) Glad to meet you all. Melissa
