Thanks for all of the good advice everyone! He's acting like a normal kitten now, playing, then sleeping, eating, then starting all over again! Now, if I can figure out what to do with him all day when we're at work.......

Hi, I have two cats that were rescued. My friend has 5 cats which he caught and brought home. It does take a while. Two of his cats you could not even get close to. When they see me, they would run away. I go over and see them more and never try to catch them. I just talk to them, give them treats and they are coming around. Since yours is a kitten, it should come around and realize you are not going to hurt it. Just remember, patience and lots of love and the kitten will come around.

Hi everyone, I used to be a member of this team, or the other one with the same name, but quit because I had no cats at the time. I decided to come back because I now have a kitten that I don't know what to do with!

For the last 3 weeks, me and another girl I work with, have been feeding a momma cat and her kitten. They showed up at work while I was on vacation. Long story short, I have the kitten at home now. After our 2 old cats (almost 18!) died in early 2007, I found it extremely hard to get another one. Now I have this kitten and he's a little wild and I don't remember how to take care of a kitten! There seem to be so many things he can get into and so many hiding spots. I have him in the bathroom with a litter box, food and water, and a carrier with a blanket, which he thinks is his home! He likes to stay in the carrier and hiss at us. If anyone has ANY advice on what to do with a semi-wildcat, please spark mail me, or rely to my post! Thanks-

Trish

Welcome to the team. I have two that I adopted from a shelter, one that the ferrell cat outside had and I took in, and one that my daughter found stranded in front of the Walgreens. My daughter adopted one from the shelter, which is living with me know and I take care of the ferrell cat outside.

Hi I am new to the SparkPeople site. I have two cats,Ditto has long beautiful black and white splotches on him,he is very social and likes to sniff whoever comes in.My cat Muffin is short haired and has a brownish and gray tabby mix color. She has four white paws, and five fingers on each paw.She also has a dot of white below her nose so it looks like she has some milk on her.

Hi, i'm new to the team. I agree with ginitonic, take it slow. When my daughter and I brought home another kitten, we put her in a separate room. Then we would put her in another different room and have the other cats smell around the room she was in. When I finally let the kitten out, I watched and made sure she could hold her on. There were a couple of times that made me nervous, but I kept telling the other cats they would need to take care of her (kitten). It took a couple of weeks but now they chase each other around, lol

May I suggest a slow introduction. Locking the kitty up doesn't sound like a good long term solution. Start slow, with the cats in different rooms. Slowly introduce scents first, then with some kind of barrier, let them see each other, get used to each other. that might take a few days to a couple weeks but they will eventually learn to tolerate the others presence. I had a cat who was declawed (not by me, I am totally against that, but that's another thread), anyway, once everyone got used to each other, she held her own very well and no one ever got hurt. but watch carefully, take it slow of course. My hope is that everyone can come to a happy medium and no one has to be locked up.

Make it a good day,

Gini

Whisper is my daughter's cat she had at college last year, but was not allowed. I said I would keep her at the house with me. However, the other cats are not real keen on her so I just leave her locked up. My daughter doesn't like it very much. She wants me to introduce her with the rest of them. The only thing is Whisper has all her claws and the other four only have their back claws.

Hi, my name is Vanessa and I'm new to SparkPeople. I saw this on the SparkTeam Page and thought it would fit me perfectly since I have four cats (Tom, Jerri, Spaz and Lucky). Plus, I have one outside ferrell cat that I take care of (Mama Kitty). It used to be at one time five cats outside, but I'm down to only one. I'm currently babysitting my daughter's cat while she is away at college (Whisper). Therefore, I have five cats in the house. However, Whisper has her own room. I spend time with her alone. The other four I spread the wealth. I love my cats very much. They are just like my kids. I don't know what I would do without them. Especially since my daughter is back at school. I'm pretty much by myself at night so all I have is the cats to talk with. Anyway that's my story and I'm going to stick with it.
