I think the trick with exercise(at least for me) is staying completely open and flexible about times and types of working out(or playing out.
When I have stayed 'rigid' like only a certain time and method were what I was focused on-- then I set myself up for part time failure. And all that attendant frustration and struggle.
Exercise is easier for me than the food piece--My job is very physical, which helps--but I try to go where the day takes me...Nice out--I'll jog--Time in the AM--I'll head to the gym for a quickie---no time--I have resistance bands--in my living room. Change of seasons? Change of approach.
I hope this has helped.
What are your decorating specialties? Would love to know--you must be an artist.

That's what I do. I even get paid to do it! LOL I do love it. I would not say that I am off the roller coaster. I still battle all the time. Most of the icings don't bother me much, but there are a couple that can grab me. For the most part, it is like any other food job. When you work around it so much, it begins to lose its appeal. (most of the time). I am struggling finding time to get my exercise in lately. I have been doing so well all summer and now that it gets light later, it is throwing me off kilter. Not sure how to get around that. I was getting up and walking my dog around 5 and then getting ready for work. Still real dark at 5...
Hope you are having a grand day. N

Cake decorating...an art I have always admired. I s this your profession? I actually would love to learn.
A friend once wondered about my work in food when I confessed to her tearfully that I had an'eating disorder'--Like I thought noone guessed-- to my constantly changing size.
How have you coped with the temtptation? I often surprise myself by not eating what I am catering/preparing, which is often healthy. It is other forbidden foods I obssess about. Icing would be a challenge.
Tell me more about your journey---I want off the roller coaster--its exhausting.

Welcome! Isn't that interesting. I wonder how many of us work in the food world. I am a cake decorator. Hmmm. I am younger than you by a few months. I'm 57 and have also been on this roller coaster al my life. Look forward to chatting with you. Good luck on your quest. N

Hi...I'm finally joining a group of like minded travelers. I have been doing the long solo slog of the health and weight rollercoaster since I was 15---I am now 59. Perhaps the missing piece has been others. You look and sound like a pretty diverse and terrific group.
I am the House Director and Chef(yup) at a sorority here at CSU and as much as I love my jobs---and I do- It is very isolating from other adults-- I could use some inspiration and connection to some of my peers. Look forward to getting to know some or all of you--- emoticon
