I'm new to the board and this group but wanted to reply. I know 1/2 a pound can be frustrating when you want to see REAL movement on that scale!! There were times in the past I stepped on expecting a loss and found a gain instead.
I'm glad you're not giving up- it's only the first week, and you may see even better progress your second week as your metabolism wakes up.
Teresa, Don't despair and keep up the good work! I agree with everything Storm says. Good things come to those who wait. I have found that the less I rely on the scale the better I feel. Just like you noticed that you were buying bigger pants, you will notice when those pants start to feel a little looser. I too am trying to loose baby fat from a 10 year old so I really understand. Also remember that your weight will fluctuate +- 2 lbs throughout the day. Make sure you are weighing yourself at the same time. Usually the best time is first thing in the morning before eating. Also try to wear the same clothing when you weigh yourself to be consistent.
Finally remember that fast weight loss is sometimes not healthy. 2 lbs a week is a pretty good goal for many people.
