Some days I wonder what it would be like not to feed horses, chickens, dogs, cats and bunnies. We have a Golden and a Black Lab. I am getting ready to show the Golden this spring. She is a bundle of energy! Just let me know. I'll bring the extra when we all walk.

We don't have dogs or any other pets. We did have when our 2 boys were still living at home, which was quite awhile ago. We used to live in the country in Illinois on a gravel road 5 miles from a town of 1200 people. We had 2 acres and had a variety of animals over the 22 years we lived there... dogs, cats, calves, pigs, chickens, goat, lots of mice...

So guess I may have to borrow a dog for our walks!

Hey there TeDi. I've got a border collie and yellow lab. They're both absolute sweethearts. The border collie is overweight but the lab can use the exercise, too. :)

Meghan,
Watch the boards for the weekend walking group. Several of us have dogs and will probably be bringing them. Mine loved our first walk and we can both hardly wait to go again.

What kind of dogs do you have?

Hi everyone! I'm new to SparkPeople, and so far I'm really impressed with it! I'm 25, never married, no children... which makes me a little bit of an oddity in these times but I have no worries about being a spinster. :) There's worse things in life, like packing around 50+ extra pounds and smoking like a chimney (I'm guilty of both).

Most of the men in my family have been in one branch of the military or another, and I've recently decided to join the Air Force. I have to go from 215 pounds to 175 before I can enlist, though, so I've got a long hard road ahead of me.

I noticed that lots of you have dogs! Maybe we should start a dog walking event? I am motivated enough to go to the gym but I rarely get out there with a leash, and my dogs need the exercise, too!

Anyway, that's it, and I look forward to meeting everyone, be it online, at FCS events, or walking our dogs. :)

Meghan

Natalie,
Welcome, welcome! It does sound like you have a lot on your plate. Sometimes it is hard to imagine it but the better you take care of yourself, the better you can take care of all those other folks. My kids are schoolage now too and it is so nice to be able to leave them for a little bit - kind of like new found freedom. I'd love to walk or work out with a buddy.

Hi Everybody! This is great. We have been kinda quiet in Fort Collins! My name is Natalie, and I'm 49. I'm trying to get on a roll with a healthy lifestyle and lose about 20 pounds. I'm definitely an emotional eater, and a yo yo dieter.

I have A LOT on my plate. Single mom to two elementary age kids, 2 dogs, and two elderly parents to help out. They live in Loveland. I also work full time at Centre Ave Rehab, at a job I love. But it's difficult to find time just for me. I love to exercise, and do all kinds. But the eating part is the hard part for me! I eat when I'm overwhelmed and stressed instead of doing other things like taking a walk or a hot bath, etc.

My kids are just getting old enough that I can leave them for a short time, so I would love to walk or work out with a buddy if anyone is interested. I just can't go too far from home or for too long.

Thank you so much TeDi for trying to "jazz up" the team. Some team goals would be wonderful!
BTW, what is an NP?

Thanks again everyone! Natalie

Wow,
I have been sleeping on the job. emoticon Welcome to all the new folks and returning folks. We have been kind of a quiet bunch lately. Jump on over to the 5 minute challenges thread if you want some quick challenges. It's moving kinda slow right now but with more people it will pick up. You can also chime in if you have daily challenges that you want to track. I am getting ready to post some team challenges and would love your input. I think work out buddies is another great idea. Let's get some ideas about how we can support and even work out together. However you choose to participate, I am so glad you are here!

Hi everyone,

I started SparkPeople in April 2008, but haven't been on since early Summer. I tend to stay busy May through December and don't need the SparkPeople help as much. The good news is I've lost 6 lbs since my last visit. The bad news is I tend to struggle the most January through April, when I'm cooped up inside. So here I am...trying to get back on track and make sure I don't gain what I've lost plus trying to lose more. I'm looking forward to the new gym in Windsor starting a REASONABLY priced pilates classes on the Reformer. I already do Power Plate workouts, but since my insurance changed in January, I'm freaking out because I only get it once a week now. So I've got to get into something else so that I have a regular scheduled workout that I'll stick with.

Maybe when it warms up, we can get some buddy workouts going on...or even now with indoor workouts. That's the main reason I joined this group...to meet people and find workout buddies. I live just northeast of Windsor. So good luck with your goals, and let me know if you are interested in buddy workouts. :o)

Hi all. I just joined today. This year I decided to get healthy. I have been walking a lot (on the treadmill in January) and around town this month with friends.

I live on the west side of Fort Collins, with my husband and fur-baby (a bunnie rabbit named Brigit).

I'm excited to cheer everyone on in their healthy endeavors!!

I know this thread is a few weeks old but thought I'd introduce myself anyway. :) I live in NE Fort Collins with my husband of 3 years and our two cats, but I work all the way in Downtown Denver doing PR and admin for a small energy company. Commuting such a long distance makes it harder to find time to exercise so I have to force myself to make the time.

When it's warmer outside, I walk for an hour at lunch around a park in LoDo. I also exercise for 20 or 30 minutes when I get home; usually Turbo Jam, 30-Day Shred or I On-Demand something fun.

Hello all! I've been on SP for quite some time. I am a new mom (9 month old). My days are pretty full as I work full time. I'm trying to figure out how to get work outs into my busy schedule.

Hi guys, I live in Longmont and I am hoping to find a person to work out with. Right now I am only able to do the low impact type of exercise because of my MS. And also I need a little bit of a push. I do have some equipment down stairs that I use now. But it would be nice to have someone to work out with.

I'm glad to see we have a new team leader. Thanks for stepping up.

I'm Michael and I work for Larimer County. My partner and I have live in Fort Collins. I was born in Houston but left Texas right after graduating form college. We've been in Northern Coloado since 1993.

I'm a huge dog lover but I'm between dogs now. I love to read and I'm excited about the new library branch because I live on the southeast side of town.

Horsetooth Reservoir, Watson Lake and the Poudre Canyon are some of my favorite places.

I lost 60 pounds about a year ago. Last year was all about maintaining my weight and this year is the year that I'm going to try to get into shape. I work out at 24 Hour Fitness. I love cardio but I try to use the weight machines once or twice a week.

I tried yoga for the first time last week and I think it's going to help with my efforts to firm up.

Hi everyone! And thanks TeDi for kick starting the group! I live in west Ft. Collins near the foothills with my wife and teenage son. No pets as I'm allergic unfortunately...

I don't belong to a gym, but I work out of my house so I workout at home. I have a ellipse, treadmill, bowflex, dumbells and floor space. I've done the P90X program and just graduated with great results and I'm starting on my second round of the program with a few twists, at least until it gets warmer when I'll focus a lot more on cycling.

Hi,
I'm the new leader for the Fort Collins (and surrounding areas) Spark Team. I am pretty excited about jazzing this group up. Let's do some introductions. Let us know who you are, where you are and what you do - work and play.

I'm TeDi. I live north of FC with my partner, two kids, two Haflinger horses, two dogs, three cats, three bunnies and a dozen chickens. My day job is HR Director for an NP. I love to trail ride at Lory State Park. I love yoga and try to practice every day. I don't love to exercise yet but I walk the treadmill every morning and I work out at Miramont North. emoticon
