1/4 pound weight loss last night after no meetings since the 17th of December and having to get through the holidays! I know that is not much but I am so pleased that I didn't gain through the holidays even though I didn't eat as well as I should have.

I'm also pleased that the sun is shining and we are going to get a few days of warmer weather!

BRMCMILLAN, you are right about all the excessive weight in the summer time showing up more. I'd like to wear shorts sometimes but I wouldn't dare...I'm self conscious about my weight and how I may look in them.

I'm still hanging in there....some days are harder than others...but the effort is really worth it in the end..have you noticed that every ad and every talk show on tv is all about weight loss...guess that's because its January and that is everyone's new years resolution...but I am thinking ahead to what it will feel like in July when I have lost weight and feel better....cause summertime is when it really shows.

Life is short...pray hard.

Livintoday, did you peek into my day planner/journal???? I've got almost the exact same things written (except for the gram #'s).

It's the start of a new year and new improved US. We can do this! We can be kind to ourselves and give ourselves the healthy, happy, fit bodies we deserve.

I made up this program for myself a few months ago and when I work it-I LOSE!
So for 2013:
Here is my "SPECIAL OPERATION PUSH FOR SUCCESS!" (Special OPS)

I WILL log all my meals and snacks.
I WILL weigh myself only weekly instead of twice a day.
I WILL exercise at least three times a week either on my bike or walking 30-60 minutes.
I WILL journal my feelings and thoughts about working the plan.
I WILL make myself accountable by keeping friends updated on my progress or lack thereof.
I WILL plan my meals before I'm starving. I will create a meal plan that lets me have two nutritious snacks a day.
I WILL get back up to 25-30 grams of fiber a day because that is the level that I where I lose weight best.

SO---That is it. No huge ideas, no impossible goals, just a modest plan that I think I can make work. I'll lose weight; no weekly or monthly goal - my goal is just weight loss and good health. I think my plan fits with TOPS standards.

Thanks everyone for your comments and words of encouragement....and I am in this for the long haul..tracking my food everyday and drinking my water..I purchased this great cookbook called "Hungry Girl to the Max" and am in LOVE with all of the recipes...I also have the Spark cookbook...the "lightbulb" went off when I actually started reading the books and realized that every one of my fav's can be tailored to my diet...and they still taste good!

Life is short...pray hard.

I thank God that the holidays are finally over for another year. too much temptation with all the food...I am so into changing my life today. Its been almost two years since my husband died and its been hard being alone but I have been forced by the circumstances to examine my life and where I want to go from here. They have a saying in AA ( of which I am also a 28 year member)..that is "when you get sick and tired of being sick and tired, you will change your life" and this is where I am right now. There is no one living with me, no one to blame or even notice if I get off track..no one but me and I am tired of fooling myself and staying in denial. I need to lose weight. I will feel better and will certainly be healthier with the weight off and will most likely extend my life. There is no down side of this and for those reasons I am going to be in this for the long haul!

Life is short...pray hard.
