As your new Team Coach, I'm not new to coaching. I've been leading weight reduction lessons for a few years now, having helped over 1,000 people shed pounds. Since there's a new look now to our start page on this website, I'd like to encourage you to interact now & then with each other, and/or ask a question which I'll either answer or seek an expert to "weigh in" on the subject.
Thank yourself & each other that you're part of a local community with a common goal: to be more accountable to reach & maintain your better health/wellness.
Sincerely,
Coach Sol
PS: I picked this page to make an introduction even though the last post was years ago. I am curious how many of you are still active on Spark People. Those of you who are will likely be still motivated to monitor your progress & ultimately achieve most realistic goals. Good luck!

Hi! I go to the 24 Hour Fitness on Ontario too. Because it is much closer to my house than the McKinnley one, I find it easier to get there. However, McKinnley has more equipment and more classes. In terms of crowdedness, I find that it is a matter of when you go. Ontario can be pretty crowded if you go right after work. I never have much problem with crowding at McKinnley, but I used go there in the morning. Has anyone tried any of the calorie monitors? Are they worth the cost? (I would love to know how much I am burning so I can better gauge how much I should be eating.) Thanks.

Welcome! The 15 freeway has definitely gotten a lot worse since we moved out here. The 91 has just gotten impossible. I don't for see it getting any better either, only worse unfortunately. I'm sorry to hear you have diabetes. My sister and my best friend both have type 2 diabetes as well and I want to avoid it at all costs. That's one of the reasons I want to get to and maintain a healthy weight. My sister had her leg amputated because of her diabetes and that really hit home.

If not now, when?

My name is Paula and I have diet-controlled type 2 diabetes and metabolic syndrome (Syndrome X). I'm happily married to a wonderfully supportive man.

I love in Corona in Horsethief Canyon, very near Lake Elsinore. I love living here except it's way too hot in the summer. The 15 Freeway is also getting more congested as time goes on because of all the new homes being built out here. At night it's very clear and you can see lots of lovely stars.

I've only been to NY once, about 3 years ago. My husband and I went in February. It was so cold! And then it started snowing! I was wrapped up so much I looked ridiculous and so obviously from out of town LOL I really enjoyed that trip but boy was I happy to be home when I got back to California. I would love to again...in May :)

Thanks! Corona is pretty decent. I grew up in Pasadena and then lived in Northern NY for about 7 years, so I am VERY happy to be in warm weather lol!

I didn't realize there were so many gyms in Corona!
Boatbound08, you're right, when I went to the one here off of Mckinley, it got very crowded at certain times of the day but right now I'm fortunate that I can probably go when there aren't so many people around. I do like that they have lots of classes to choose from, if I join back up, that would be the main reason for doing so.
Ladydragon, welcome! The more the merrier. How do you like Corona so far? I've lived here for 9 years and the only the thing I don't like is the heat in the summer. We moved out here from Costa Mesa. I miss being near the beach and the cooler weather but otherwise I'm very happy here, especially since we were actually able to buy a house out here. Owning a home in Costa Mesa was way out of reach.

Hi! I go to the 24-hour Fitness at Main and Ontario. It's small, but I can get there really quickly from my house and don't have to drive ALL the way across town to the McKinley one (although I hear they have more classes there, but they are crowded on the weekends)

Hey all. I am Daphne.I'm 31, a single mom, I do work though, I just moved to Corona last April after getting out of the Army! Does anyone go to any of the gyms in the area? I go to the LA Fitness off Ontario!

Welcome! I love this site so far. I joined about three weeks ago. It took me a little while to get used to it all but I think I've gotten the hang of it :)
Which 24-hour fitness do you go to? I'm thinking of signing back up with the one by my house off of the 91 and Mckinley. Good luck with your training for your 10K. Running is difficult for me. It affects my chest in a funny way. I can do other cardio but running kills me. I admire people who can do it.

Um...OK...Hi to all! My name is Susan and I live in South Corona. I'm new to Spark People (and blogging and posting, and e-support!) after a friend commented she had lost 7 pounds in a month of joining, while I had had no success on my own in the same month. I'm training for a 10K with my husband and take weight training/circuit classes at 24-Hour Fitness. Maybe I will see you all around the city!

Hi Sara. I'm glad you're here! Looks like we're a small group :) I like it because I feel we can grow with it. It feels more intimate. I have to admit I felt a little intimidated by some of the larger teams. However, it seems we are congregating at a new team for Corona. If you look at the very first topic in this team, there is a link to the other one where the three active members of this team are posting. I come on over. It's a private team so you won't find it in a search. I think the topic it's under is 'Not a chatty bunch LOL'. Hope to see you there.
Shondarl, join us too. Here's the link:

No kidding about the rain LOL I like it though, it's the only time my plants get watered LOL Good for you on a good week. I know how hard it can get to work out when you have to work and take care of a family (even though they are older, they still need mom :)
I've tried many videos but I have a core group that I alternate. I try to do the hard ones MWF and the easier ones or walking the other days with rest on the weekends. I do the one hour Tae bo, the Firm Cardio sculpt, The Firm Body Sculpt (killer), and Cindy Crawfords Next Challenge (also about an hour and killer too!). On lighter days I do walking, yoga (Bobby Batista), the half hour Tae bo and and old body sculpting video that I love called Nautilus body sculpt. I spent all this money on some of Billy Blanks newer workouts but I didn't like them so I gave them to my sister but these that I mentioned are my staples. I try others every now and then but I always come back to these.

What videos do you use????? I have a bunch that I have never used, Pilates and Tae bo and on and on and on!!!!!!! I guess I should fire them up. I'm glad that you had a good week. I had a lot to do this week for work, and have been really busy but I made it to the gym 4 days. I go on the weekends too!! I average 4-5 times a week. Hope everyone has a good weekend and we don't have to call Noah for some back with the rain lol!!!! Rashell

My brother in law manages an LA Fitness in L.A. I'll have to ask him if he can get me a deal :) Otherwise, I'll probably end up with a 24 hour fitness membership with my hubby if I ever go back to the gym at all but I'll be cheering for you two all the way!!! In the meantime, I'll be doing my videos. I worked out everyday this week and will be resting on the weekend. Here's to another good week next week :)

I agree... LA Fitness (Norco) is a really nice gym. I don't particularly enjoy going that early in the morning (cuz I hate getting up early...grrr..) but I have a little child care business in the daytime, and my family takes precedence at night, so that's the only time to go. BUT... the gym isn't busy that time of day, so that's a plus.

My husband has to be at work by 5am so I am up at 4am everyday anyways so I try to use my time wisely. He goes at night at 4pm so I go with him sometimes too. But I love La Fitness Norco. I hope to see you guys someday.

I see that LA Fitness when I go to Target. Sadly, I've never set foot in it LOL How do you like it? I've only been to the 24 Hour Fitness. It's just down the street from our house but I've been curious about how they compare.
Rashell, I didn't even bother to ask what gym you go to. I was considering going to Curves but never got around to it. There's one by the Kohl's. Might check it out.

Hi. I work out at LA Fitness, Norco, in the mornings, but unfortunately - not 4:30 am! I'm more 6-7 am. Maybe we'll still cross paths sometime!

Oh, boy, that Is early! That's fantastic that you go, though. It can be really easy to make an excuse not to go. I've discovered that I'm not 'first thing in the morning' exerciser :) I also lose steam when I work out at night for some reason. However, it is something I can do. I am, though, a morning exerciser. What works for me is eating breakfast(I absolutely can't work out if I don't eat), take my son to school, come back (by then I don't feel full) and I work out to a video some days or go for a walk. I used to go to the 24 Hour Fitness by Costco a few years ago but it was hard to go when my son was little so I canceled my membership and started the videos. I've considered joining again (my husband still has membership). I'll have to think about. I know my husband would probably like that I get one because then I could go with him every now and then. He likes to work out passed midnight because of his work schedule and I don't do midnight LOL

Great to hear back from you!!!!! It is great that there are more Corona folks. Maybe we can plan to meet in person one day. Since there aren't many of us it would be fairly easy. I go to the gym at night do you or anyone else belong to a gym here in Corona/Norco area? If someone wanted a partner on the eliptical or the treadmill I'm there!!!!! I sometimes go in the morning, but I work so I go at 4:30 or 5:00am. Thats early for some. Happy losing

Hi Rashell. You left me such a nice comment on my blog. I really appreciated it. I didn't realize you lived in Corona :) I belong to several teams but am trying to find the one I can be consistent with and decided I would stick with the Corona one since it's small and seems manageable. Seems like a team I can grow with. I love that they have teams for individual cities and that we have one for Corona.I have two children, a 19 year old in college and an 8 year old in second grade.

I am so happy that there are others in Corona with the same issues that I have. I used to be thin and healthy and I was very active when my girls where younger. 14 years ago I went thru a divorce, I was thin and I didn't have time to worry about food I was more concerned with my kids. I worked and worked and my carrer grew, with that came a different type of stress and I became an emotional eater and an eater on the go. It was hard being a single parent but I made it. Now that my girls are older 17 and 14, they don't need as much of my attention and I can focus on myself. I married a wonderful man almost 10 years ago, he is very suportive. I want him to be proud to call me his wife, and I want my kids to be proud of me acomplishing my goals Rashell

Hi. I'm Shonda. I've lived in West Corona. I just discovered this SP website and it looks like a cool way to keep myself accountable. I have 2 kids - 9 & 6. I just started a daycare in my home so I can still be available to my kids when they're off-track. Good luck on your journey!
