Good Morning Everyone! I'm Ginger and actually live down in Redfield but that's close to LR!! emoticon
I've been on Spark since 2008 and lost 40 pounds but still have 50 to go. So here's the question answers......

1. Are you looking for sparkfriends and motivation? Most definitely!! I only get to town once or twice a month but would love to meet someone for a mall walk or park walk and coffee or tea!

2. Do you plan on dieting, exercising, or both? I do cardio 5 days a week, strength train 3 days a week and try to eat healthy 80% of the time. I mostly cook all my food from scratch as I have allergies to gluten and soy so boxed foods are mostly out.....bummer.....

3. Are you new to the Little Rock Area? My husband took a job over here a year ago. I'm originally from Montana but joined the Air Force and have lived all over the country and world. So when people ask me where I'm from I just say America!!

4. Do you have a specific reason for losing weight? I have lots of health issues including Rheumatoid Arthritis, OsteoArthritis, allergies, Fibromyalgia and have a family history of leukemia onset in older age. So I am trying to get my pain and health under control. Living at a 7-8 pain level for the last 30 years has been interesting. Exercise and stretching help immensely...go figure!!

Looking forward to meeting some of you soon. I'm temporarily on crutches following foot surgery but hopefully will get the green light to start walking again soon! emoticon

Hi Everyone! I am not new to SparkPeople but new to the team. I've been on a roller coaster of weight loss ALL my adult life. I have yo-yo'd and the end result is balooning to a higher weight than I originally started in the beginning diet days. Although it may be the "end" result, it won't be the "final" result I'm laid to rest permenantly. Being a failure is when one stops trying to meet his/her goal. I am on this weight loss path AGAIN....steadily trying. Blessings to us all!

1. Are you looking for sparkfriends and motivation? Yes, I'm looking for both today.
2. Do you plan on dieting, exercising, or both? Yes and No, I plan on taking it one day at a time and trying to make this a lifestyle change with a PERMANENT diet and eventually daily exercise.
3. Are you new to the Little Rock Area? No, I am not new to the LR area; I've lived here since 1991.
4. Do you have a specific reason for losing weight? Yes, my reason for losing weight is to become healthier, pain-less, energized, athletic, gain sense of well-being, and be active with my grandchildren. (oh and look good doing all those things too.)

As long as I keep trying I will NEVER be a failure!

Hello My name is Sheena. I am new to the group just looking for moral support as I travel down this weightloss journey. I am prediabetic and I am wanting to lose 150 lbs for my health. I have a 2 year old son who needs me because I am also a widow so being the only parent he has alive is motivating me to want to lose the weight for him as well. I started this journey 3 weeks ago. I weighed 326 at my highest now three weeks later I am weighing 309.

Hello everyone. Good to see there's a group close to me. I've been pretty overweight my whole life. I got in good shape when I joined the military but I have been out since 2004 and really let myself get heavy and then some. I really started my recent weightloss goal on Feb 3rd of this year (2013). So far I've lost 38 pounds all by eating healthier foods and giving up soda and only doing weight lifting. My goal is to lose 70 pounds this year and maybe more later but the goal is 70.

Hi all! I'm Wendy and just joined SP. So far, I love it! This was a recommendation of my dietitian at the program I am in to get and stay healthier! My BP started going up and I don't want to be on medicine for it so it was time to make a change! Right now I work full time and am in the MBA program so my exercise time hasn't been happening, but I have decided to start working in at least 30 minutes a day! I have been in Arkansas for several years and in Little Rock for the last three, I like living close to the walking path on Riverfront! I wish you all well!

Darn I looked into and still a bit expensive, though it is close by. The one next to my job will have to be it. It is only $20 a month. I can go early and get my work out in and shower before or after work depending on my schedule that day. I live in Southwest Little Rock and my job and the Gym are in West Little Rock and with out transportation other than the taxi it is tough but I will make it work. Thank you so much for the suggestion though. emoticon

4. Do you have a specific reason for losing weight? I am tired of being tired. I am sick of being sick. I don't like feeling bloated and miserable and just not able to things like tie my shoes without panting. I did this before with the Biggest Looser, lost some not all my weight, and I had more energy and felt so much better. Bottom line I got lazy and went to all my bad habits.

Hi everyone. I am glad to meet local folks from Sparkpeople. Also to keep up with any events to help keep me motivated and active. Just random but important to me we need a 10 Fitness near S. University Ave. Most all the inexpensive Gyms are way out on Rodney Parham and Chenal and so on. I don't have transportation so it makes it very hard. I am not trying to spend and hour or more on the bus to go work out when I have so many other activities and responsibilities to. I can't afford anything more than $20 a month either. It is tough. I know I could work out at home but I just don't do well on my own. I give in to just not doing my work outs. Especially when the weather is cold or rainy. I know I one of those full of excuses :( Not have a local affordable Gym does not help though honestly. Wow this was just suppose to be a hello and it turned into a rant. So sorry.

Hello from Hot Springs! I have worked for the National Park Service 29 years; starting right out of college. My wife and I have worked around the country with our children born in NM and TX. I stared working at Hot Springs in 11/10 and plan to retire in AR. I am looking to improve my overall health - mind, body and spirit, losing weight, improving endorance, not bulking up, and enjoying life.

After living in upsate NY surviving 200" snow winters, AR is certantly a change.

Hello everyone,
My name is Van and I joined this group hopefully to get some insight on places to eat or shop when I am in the Little Rock area. I am a "semi"vegetarian; I do not eat beef, pork, or grown chickens. I primarily eat fish, seafood, and maybe an egg for breakfast. Well I did use chicken in a meal a few weeks ago, but that is the only chicken I have had in about a couple of months. I started eating meat again to get my amount of protein needed. I went on a vegan kick over a year ago and my blood pressure dropped dramatically. Didn't stay on it and it went back up. Now that I have made a lifestyle change it has gone back down. Using this website and app has helped me out a lot by giving me a guide line on what I should eat.

Been dieting time for more exercising. :-(

I have lived in Cabot area for over 20 years... I may or may not know where a street is in Little Rock.

There are soo many diseases or disorders that can be kept at bay if people just eat healthy and step away from the plate. Since I lost 30 pounds I have had no heartburn ( I even eat Habanero sauce regularly) and I am off my blood pressure medicine.

i had heard about sparkpeople before and did not join. i am overweight and realize that working on my own was not working out at all. so i joined spark.

Hi everyone, I've lived in LR all my life, been married twice and slipped into a rut of bad eating and slacking on exercise both times. I love Zumba, line dancing, well, dancing period... I used to take kickboxing and still hit the heavy bag from time to time. Even though I'm nearly 400# on the outside, I just can't see it on the inside. There's a fit girl hiding inside me. I have PCOS, which makes losing weight a battle of epic proportions. I have many life goals that have piddled away due to my size. I'm sick of taking care of everything else before myself, and want to be a better me to myself. I would love to find a workout partner that's willing to do some mitt work in boxing. No contact punching for me! Anyhoo, hope to meet some new fun people here.

Yes, that's the main reason I joined in the first place!

2. Do you plan on dieting, exercising, or both?

Both. My plan right now is to stick to 1500 calories per day and walk/jog 1.25 miles on the treadmill five times a week.

3. Are you new to the Little Rock Area?

Sort of. I moved here from Oregon in October 2010, but I had lived in Searcy (went to Harding) for four years before moving to Oregon in 2001. So I was familiar with the area before moving here this time around.

4. Do you have a specific reason for losing weight?

I'm just tired of looking good "for someone who has four kids" and being the chubby girl in an office of skinny young things. I want to dance and run without feeling silly and just be attractive again!

I don't have to convince other people that I can reach my goals. They'll believe me after I do, and I'm not doing this for them anyway.

Hi all my name is Chrystal everyone calls me Chris. I am 27 and have been married for 10 years this Nov. We have a 4yr old boy (who is a handful). I am a full time student at Pulaski Tech. My final weight loss goal is 150. My sisters sweet sixteen is in Oct so I want to lose as much as possible so I can fit in to a nice dress. My goals are 9 ( 8lb) goals. Iam trying 3lb a week.
