My name is "Bobbi" and I am not new to sparks and I have been on this team before,
as well and left because of many reasons and one of them was because of $$$,
and when I came back I had lost a lot of teams and people and friends.

My weight has climbed back up because I lost my dad in 2-26-14 and after that things,
just were so awkward not having my dad here and I just wanted to eat too get rid of,
my pain of losing my dad...so here I am again doing what needs to be done.

I am a diabetic type 2 and very hard to do what needs to be done...I am not on any meds,
yet as I speak trying to do this with diet first and if that don't work then I will need meds.

anyway I am 58 yrs. old and I am disabled due to a fall at work when I was working,
and as well as I flat-lined in 10-10-10...but it wasn't my time so I was told to come back,
to this earth that God has plans for me I guess lol.

So I will need as much support as I can get PLEASE.

HI Both Casey and "Charlie"???

LOVE having you BOTH on the team !! We do have an extended list of chair exercises on the site. Right now I am on COMPLETE BEST REST due to a surg on foot,, and trying to NOT lose the big toe,, if this does NOT work,, than I do. So tired of all of this.

So for those of us who can't use our lower half for now,, or at all,, plz grab ur weights,, and follow the videos here,, and lets all GET RID OF THE FLABBY ARMS !! Also if you have any control of the torso area,,,, to hold it in for 5 seconds,, release it for 5,, and than tighten it,, and any surrounding area you may be able to,,, and keep on doing so ,, this can be done UNLIMITED !! WOOHOOOO !!! it DOES WORK !! I have been in my wheelchair A LOT and for awhile I could not walk,, now I can (well when the 8 weeks are over) on a very limited basis,,, so we CAN DO ThiS !!! The exercises are located: wll here's ONe link,,, I know we have ALL the links to ALL the chair/other exer's,,, I just can't look fast enough and need to get up to PEE ! LOL !! NOT easy using a knee walker !

WELCOME Lacie !! U can do this,, jus slowly do so,,, and if ur to unsteady,, stop,, sit try again later or another day,, IF ur body can really allow this?

I had a Dr tell me "Diane, STOP trying to get out of Chair. We've seen the xrays,, you can NOT do this. Ur just frustrating urself". Welll that SPURRED mE ON !!! I went outside in my chair,, where there's a rail,,, stood up carefully took a few steps,, back into my chair,,, I felt as if I'd been the BeST GIFt eVer !! Slowly over time,, I was able to make it down to the ramp,, and I kept AT IT,, determined no dr was gonna tell ME this news. Eventually I DID walk for 1 MILE !!

now I go back and forth,,, days I can,, can't walk. Now in a cast (2 weeks thus far,, have 3 more in this cast,, bright yellow LOL) than into a small one til Setp than FINALLY out of it at the end of Sept ! WOOHOOOO !!! my walking goes to a huge variety,, I AN though normally walk around home,,, I am often unsteady,, so I ALWAYS make sure I get a place,, where as I walk down hallways,,, move around the place,,,, If I go to fall,, I can grab things. :) going and walking outside of apt,, is and has been hard, but even the little I can normally do, I am THRILLED to PIECES !! WOOHOOOO !!

WELCOME back to the team !!! We care very much on here,, in the chat area,,, and the weekly forums,, we do a one on one,, more so than the rest, but we ALSO do one on those,, so plz do keep up with this,, we DO care !!

Also we have a thread to put down "where ur pain level at today" and believe me,,, it's helping out MANY of us,, and we'd LOVE to have you join us there also.

Hon,,, it's great that you wish to undo the regained weight. I've done this soo many times,,, I ve lost track !! but, now I have found my MO JO !! I also found out what hings I needed to tweak on SPARK,, so that I Do lose !! WOOHOOO !! if you wish help on this,,, ,, we are here for ya !! just keep on writing,, YOU CAN DO ThiS !! there's NO DOUBT !! And when deals with chronic pain,, or new pain,, this can EASILY turn into "emotional eating to sooth down the pain. Sure we KNOW it's not realh going tol work,, but we've ALL done this. Now to break that cycle with something MORE satisfying.

Not really new to SP or this team actually. I use to be Greenthumb_70. I left SP in 2012. I rejoined about 4 months or so later, but I could never regain that momentum or motivation. I have been upgraded to Secondary Progressive MS and have been diagnosed with Stage II Osteoarthritis. I have regained most of the weight I lost in 2011. I think I found my spark in this team once before I hope I can find it again.

Hi all I am a MIA Spark member who found her way back. I live in Southwest Iowa but will always be Azniteskies or Arizona (in my blogs).

I am pretty much bed bound, I can walk and stand for short distances and am looking forward to Medicare approving my motorized wheel chair in the next few weeks. Then I can do more and go more. A trip out puts my pain level over the charts and I can't move for days.. Way too many things wrong medically to fix unless I can get my weight down about about 150 pounds.

I quilt, I write, play games online and am a avid Genealogist. I have done ancestries both professionally and of course personally. I love the hunt of finding what people can't find.

HI Allie !! WB !!! There's so much to learn from when we may of stopped ,, it helps us if we gained during that time,, such a VALUABLE one,,, in both teaching us that we aren't ready to "FLY" on our own yet, and 2,,, that this time when we go over the skills again,,, we can REALLY make them such a ROUTINE for ourselves,, that when we will hopefully have it engrained upon us.

2) If we did NOT gain,, it's such a PAT on the BACK 11

I am also a grandma,,, of 4,,,, 2 of each, they are no win their late teens, early 20s,,, and I am a YOUNG GRANDMA !! It is such a THRILL of course !! I HOPE when I go on vaca my Gd will and her H will join us,,, they married in the Sept 13 (not preggo LOL people now a days ASsuME when you sa shes married at 18,, that she HAS to bepreg,,, but NO !! They just TOTALLY ADORE each other,,, and it's soo cute to watch !

I joined this team some time ago but I don't know if I ever introduced myself. I have been with SP since 2006. I am back again after a break. I did well on SP in the past and I am having success again. I have two grandsons - 3 and 7 and I love them to death. I have lost 22 pounds since January. I guess that is it for now. Hello, I am excited about this forum. I am a double Cerebreal and brain stem stroke survivor and use walker I am starting a new regiment of more walking as i need it to make my legs stronger and now I am told no starch or sweets because my blood sugar is crazy. I am in hopes this forum helps me thank you.

Thanks for the welcome here! The sacroiliac joints are where the bottom most part of the spine (sacrum) flares out to meet the pelvic bone (Ilium). Nothing they can do for arthritis there, not even occasional injections, which I avoid like the plague in other joints, like my knees, because I have diabetes and steroids and diabetes do not mix! The sciatic nerve runs next to the joint. Thank God I do not have sciatica! I used to do recumbent bike (the kind where you sit on your butt instead of pelvic bones so you are less upright, but not really reclining), but after a while started getting pain down the outside of my right leg (the SI joint hurts worse on that side), so quit that. The marching in the chair I do in my recliner so I have room to sit forward, but lean back a little so when I "march" my feet don't hit the ground. It's like bending at the hips and knees and pumping my legs up and down. Does that make any sense? Wish I could draw it, but not that talented, even if the computer would let me.

I know what you mean about the cost of things adding up! I'm on private disability, so not eligible for Medicare and hubby lost his job, so no medical/drug insurance either. But I know I'm lucky compared with a lot of other people and complaining won't help, not that I don't do it sometimes anyway! I'll try not to do it here! BTW, if you can get your doc to say swimming is part of your overall treatment plan, your insurance (if you have any), might pay for it! Worth a try if you haven't tried already!

HI Doc,, SO SORRY I am 2 days LATE with welcoming U to the group. SO GLAD Dee did,,, for she's the HEAD OF THE LEADAHS ! :) She is doing her BEST to have the team come more alive,,, sometimes I just like it SMALL cos then we can really get to know each other. :)

U R sooo CORRECT that swimming ADDS UP !! I am doing it now,, at 50 a month !! OUCHERS when on SSDI ! It is the easiest though than walking,, and I can NOT do the marching,, I have broken my foot THREE times trying.

Can you please explain better where the sacrolliac joints are,, what U go thru. I am "guessing" upper leg joints,, and where the siatic nerve?SP??? can be formed,, had that happen once !! OH MY GOODESS I called 911 for the pain was breath taking, and I could not BREATHE with it !! They (ambulance AND HOSP !) thought I had broken my hip ! it was that BAD !!! they FINALLY figured it out !! So UGHERS kiddo,,, I FEL FOR YA !!

I also ADMIRE YOU For WANTING to try !!! I have friends,, and I am sure we can ALL think of others, who are not NEARLY in as much pain,, and yet,, they DO NOT TRY !!!

As I said on the earlier thread in my reply to ya,,,, there is the list of chair exercises that are available on SPARKS. Remember you DO NOT have to do ALL the moves,, it's FINE to RELAX by hitting pause,, even if it means waiting til the next DAY !! Rome was NoT built in a day,,, and so we HAVE To LEARN to deal with how we can exercise,, Without causing more pain !! OH YEAH !! BIG TIME !!

So sorry about H and job,,, while things are FINALLY getting better,, many STILL are without jobs,, or having as one in my fam is,, working at a job,, that would Normally be considered as WAY beneath them, but $$ Is $$$. At first my brother MOOCHED OUT the Unemply check for time after time,, after time,, and DEMANDED on applications,,,,, he be a MANAGEr ! Though he HAD NOT been so b4 !!! Grrr he just "figured" he has an extensive college education,, and he was MANs GIFT to EVERYONE ! hes NOT ! when they finally said "it runs out in 2 weeks, with NO MORE extentions" he FINALY got a job. WIZZED ME OFF TO EVERY EnD ! So hopefuly H will find something !

Hello. I have several disabilities which limits my ability to exercise. The one that bothers me the most is the arthritis in my sacroiliac joints because it limits my walking which was one of my favorite things to do. Very much walking and it hurts not only in my SI joints (esp. on the right), but also in my low back. Swimming is an option to some extent when weather permits me getting out (that lets out most of this winter!) and when I can afford the swimming pool fees. Unfortunately, my hubby has been out of work for several month, so...no swimming right now. Right now I am working with resistance bands and trying to get in at least 10-20 minutes of exercising each day. Some days are worse than others (I also have severe arthritis in my knees, ankles, some toes and fingers and my left thumb--go figure LOL) and I have an artificial right shoulder and chronically torn right rotator cuff with muscle wasting causing my shoulder to be partially out of joint all the time which limits my upper body exercising . Some things I could probably do to a degree, but ripping, tearing pain is not my idea of a good time, and some things I cannot physically do. In the meantime, I plug along as best I can and thank God for what I can do. I am new to Sparkpeople and glad I found this group.

Thanks Diane for the lovely welcome. I will make by fitness and food tracker public. I try to track every day even when I have binged due to whatever is going on in my life. I am also an emotional eater so if you look you will see some times I get off track emoticon

I know its going to be a long process and I am willing to put in the work. I figure it will be sometime in 2016 before I get anywhere near my goal weight. I am willing to wait and work on it.

HI Sindia !! WELCOME To the LAD TEAM !!! WOOHOOOO !!

I want to COMMEND you for doing ALL you can along this journey !! I had ALSO started out at 10 mins a day,, 3 days a week. It was really ALL I COULD DO !!

Here's how I SLOWLY did it , (Oh yeah,, I was in chair,,,) I found some chair excerises I could SLOWLY build up too. The chair excerises helped me to feel better,, cos I was finally using muscles I had not done in MANY YRS !!! I slowly added on 5 mins to the 10 (As I felt well enough to) and soon I was UP to 4 days a week,,,, at 15 mins,, than I slowly kept on finding diff chair exercises. It has taken me 4 yrs ,,,, so by telling you this,, I am saying "DO NOT RUSH, yet, SET goals",,, but I am now up to on most days 80 mins to 170 mins . Again that took me 4 yrs,, and many I've talked to,, have also done this.

At this moment Sindia,,, I can also walk, but for how long? We have NO CLUE !! it's not MS, but I mimic MS. I've learned to accept it,, and live with it.

Hon,, are you tracking ur food? ALL of it? that's the first step,,, than lets keep talking,, and we WILL WORK this out for you !! but, the FOREMOST is to track very accurately. Once I know u are,,, and it may take a bit of time,, a week or more ,,, if you are not,, we can go by UR SPEED. I am SURE you want to do as I THOUGHT I could,, and LOSE IT ALL at a FACE PACE, but in all reality it does take time,,, so plz do not be DISCOURAGED !! U CAN EASILY DO THIS !!! Dee and I have worked with many over the time,, and we have helped them (as long as they stayed,,,, for if someone becomes to discouraged by unrealistic expectations,, this can't work,,, so Patience is the name of the game),,,, once we have your tracking food going ,, and plz make it public (to do so if it's not,, and you can tell coz at the end of ur SPARK Page,,, (the one you wrote a lot on) if there is "Food and exercise tracker" together as one line,,,,, (to do this,, go to Commuity on the start page,, than click My page,, than where you see "Edit my page",,,, on the upper right hand page,,, click off "open my food tracker and also open my exercise tracker) than we can check ur page to see how it is going,, DO NOT WORRY hardly ANYONE EVER Checks it,,, so its not like "The pubic" who are on SPARKS will do it,,, only those who are interested in HELPING you ever checks them,, and than it's maybe for a few weeks to a month,,,, I keep mine open always,,, for I have a few I've ASKED to check mine for I WAS up til this weekend STUCK !!)

Hi all.
My name is Sindia and I need support for exercising and losing weight. I currently use a walker but on good days I can use a cane. I am unable to move very much but my goal is to do at least 10 minutes of exercise 3 times a week or more, lately that has been walking.

WOOHOO Lacie !! it's GREAT u are trying to be consistant with the exercise,, 10 ins is what I also started out at,, though for me,,, it was 3 times a week !! now I've been on for 4 yrs,, and I am to 2 HRS A DAY of stretching,, for I am finding that helps the MOST with the pain. I have a yoga DVD ,, that helps me out A LOT !! Than I do stretches thru out the day from 1 to 4 mins at a time,, prob about 10 times a day,, which helps also sooo muchers !!

hi, I am new. I am devoting myself to doing 10 minutes daily exercise till I feel strong enough to do more. I use a walker now hope to use a cane and maybe to walk on my own

So neat you have ur sons, and also a GC. I have 4 GC's,, and love them sooo muchers !! They are now older teens.

So sorry hon, you go thru so much !!! Sounds like a LOT of pain !!! We are here with you ! So share away,,, and hopefully you will start to feel better some, and most of all, to "deal successfully" with it.

Hi everyone! I am 47, I live in the foothills of NC, I have 3 sons ages, 29,23, and 19. I also have a grand-daughter that just turned 1. I have Ehlers Danlos Syndrome, nerve damage in my left leg that happened during a surgery, rotator cuff syndrome that they can no do surgery on because it will not heal aand I have chronic fatigue syndrome. I have more ABC's , but those are the main ones.

I am a lucky person even though I have all of this going on. I was told I would be in a wheelchair the rest of my life after a surgery in 2008 that didn't go as planned. I usually get by without having to use my chair, unless a lot of walking will be involved.

I like to sew, have a chihuahua and I am getting a new chi baby in about a week!

After my surgery, I was basically bed bound for about 7 months in which I gained about 60 pounds! When you are short, that is a lot! My first goal is to lose 20 pounds. I hope to eventually lose 75.

It is good to meet you!

Thanks Diane, My Dr. advised me that it's not healthy to lose more than 2 lbs a week and also reminded me that Muscle weighs more than fat so a slight weight gain is normal and will level off over time. I am more than happy with my pace and set my goals accordingly....I am a fact based person lol so I live in a very realistic world :) Sparkspeople is a great tool in this Journey emoticon

HI Diana and Bobby,,, I am going to say something you may not like, but it's being realistic and help you the MOST on STAYING with SPARKS and on ur LOVELY JOURNEY !

That's to expect 1 to MAYBE 2 lbs week, IF THAT !! At times you will be STEADY and NOT lose or even GAIN a little. When we are disabled,,, it's NOT as easy for us, as it is for others It's really QUITE a struggle, but still one you CAN EASILY WIN !! WOOHOOO WE CAN EASILY DO THIS !!!

So let's be REALISTIC so that it'll help you to STAY On.

Hello, My name is "Bobbi" and I am 58yrrs old and I have been here before not new to me,
anyway I am 5'3 tall and I thought I would come back here...I am started a new me for 2014,
and I need all the support that I can get here...Yes I am still disabled and I am on a walker,
which my number #1 goal is to get off of that walker if possible wont know until I can get some,
of this weight off ugh...my hubby Ronnie has helped me to get though a lot and my knees &,
back really gives me a hard time and then their is my Gout and bone spurs that I have to deal,
with as well...and I am just tired of having this extra weight on me so please anyone just pop,
up and tell me anything to keep me going please.. I wanna lose 100 lbs. to be @ my 1st goal,
of 260 lbs. and I wanna do this by my birthday...10-28th...so lets see what I can do...but I ,
have many medical problems that I have to deal with as well UGH.

Hello, I am new to the team...My Name is Diana I am 46 years old, no Children. I live in Central Massachusetts with my 3 cats and my Fiance. I was diagnosed with Essiental Tremors in 2001 and was in a workplace accident in 2007 causing me to have 10 surgeries between both arms leaving me disabled. I packed on 55 lbs since being disabled due to not being able to move a lot and because of depression. I have found recently that I can do yoga ( not all moves) and I LOVE it! My Goal is to lose 55lbs by mid July. Thanks for the support in advance :)

I have arthritis but cannot take arthritis meds because of kidney disease. Sometimes I hurt so bad. Thank goodness for heating pads and pain meds (although sometimes they seem to not work).

I use mostly a large (the largest I could find at Walmart) heating pad,,,, and now also Ben Gay for athr. That is helping some,,, needed it soo BADLY on surg foot, neck, left shoulder,, and hands,,, and other places, but those places were driving me CRAZI ATTT IO !!!! I WISH they'd come up with a med for otheo arth. They have Celebrex, but that has a 'black box' warning,, and for a GOOD REASON !!! I am one of them who had a STROKE cos of it !! STAY AWAY FROM IT on a LONG PERIOD OF TIME PLZ !!

HI Joyce !! First allow me to introduce myself,, I am Diane and I LOVe to smile, it's about the only thing on my bod that does NOT hurt, and helps the MOST !!

I am SO SORRY you are going thru so much. I've ALWAYS Avoided the surg also in the l4/l5 with spondythesis. I 'll be interested to see what it is w/ur feet. I was a gymnast in my ealier yrs (and capt) ! and the abuse one puts on their feet ! OH MY GOODNESS !!! I am SURE if my old PT saw you walking down the street,,, she'd AT ONCE know you were very active on ur feet,,,,,,,,, she can tell , by the way we walk.

TY SO MUCHERS for FINDING US !! With our site,, the BEST way to get the MOST out of it,, is to hit the "Chat" thread daily, so we can plz respond. I SHOULD be on morah than I am,, and Dee (another leader) is on about every day,,, we ARE HERE WITH YOU as are a few other regular readers,,, as the one below this,, who also is GREAT !!!! She's also been thru MUCH and is VERY ENCOURAGING. We are a SMALL team though we tried to BOOStER IT uP more, but are finding, being small (Many inactive members who haven't left the team) we find we are a CLOSE team,, and CAN EASILY Depend on each other for FULL SUPPORT,,, so we are DELIGHTED u have found ur way with us. We will ALWAYS listen to U hon.

I have bad feet from neuropathy,, in the past 4 months, have had 2 surgs on them to help with the pain.They HAVE helped to Greatly reduce the pain, but it's making it even harder to walk,, and along with my back,,,, I mostly use my wheelchair, when not in the apt,, and often times when in here also. I have a longgggg hallway that makes it hard,, for it's quite narrow,, and I need to back up to come out of the ladies. I DO NOT LIKE that, but I LOVE my place. :) I am SO GRATEFUL to have it.

On top of the fibro, arthris, spiondy, neuropathy I am now also possibly facing skin cancer,,, I'll find out next month. SIGH !! As IF I WAS BORED with many appts with Dr's,, so I needed MORAH??? NOT !! I DETEST going to the Dr's,, and DO NO go to hosp,, even when it's quite serious,,, last yr,,, I had a TIA,, and was REFUSING to go in. I have been in there ENOUGH and DO NOT LIKE TO GO !!! but, for that THANKFULLY one of my special D's grabbed me and FORCED me to go. it would of taken longah for an ambulance.

With dieting,, or rather "a lifestyle" change,,,,, which is NOT a diet,,,, for it allows so much and FUN ,,,,,, it's how I am the most successful for my body does NOT like to bw successful and YET, I am LOSING !!! WOOHOOOO !!!!

Joyce, I know how painful a bad back is. I have had 2 surgeries on mine and so far the last one is holding. I had a ruptured disc at L4 and L5 both times. I now have arthritis in a lot of my body but I keep plugging along. I still garden and a lot of the things I used to do but with adaptations. Hope you the best.

Hi, My name is Joyce and I have suffered with chronic pain for 20 years. Finally about 10 years ago I had a L4, L5, S1 back fusion which caused my S1 joints to freeze up and to make matters worse I am allergic to all anti-inflammatory drugs. To make things more difficult I began to have serious problems with my feet and some days can barely walk. After about 4 months I have finally gotten an appointment with a Podiatrist for Dec. 27. As a teen and young adult I was super active. I could high jump 5' 5'' and I was the fastest on my high school track team with the exception of my twin sister. I played volleyball and loved to go surf fishing. I think so much of my depression is over the grief of not being able to do those things anymore. LOL, of course I'm too old to be going over a high jump bar any more but I miss not being able to jog or go surf fishing. And I can't garden any more either. Someone said all the abuse on my feet has caused some bones to drop but I don't know yet. All I know is I still have to work and still have to clean house and still have to cook, etc. And the extra weight is not helping. I tend to be an emotional eater, especially at night when I am so tired and have so much pain.

But I am also a person who knows there is hope. I was in a wheel chair for months before my back surgery and so I am grateful to be able to walk again even if it is painful to do so.
Today I realized that I need a support group if I am going to get this weight off and keep it off. I eat for relief and with all the experience the team has I will learn a different way to do things. I have good days and I have bad days. For years I sat here and played computer games off one website. It took some doing but I cancelled my subscription today so that I might begin to use that time in a more positive way. Because on Mon-Thurs. I leave my house at 6 AM and don't get home until around 7:15 PM I have little time to do anything but check in with my husband who has COPD, love on our 4 rescue pets (2 dogs and 2 cats) and try to get to bed at a decent hour which is a challenge because of the pain. But I want to make a commitment to me. I'm always giving so much of myself to others and don't always take the time out for me.

I have struggled with pain and struggled with losing weight to the point that it is time for a change.

HI Bette !! WELCOME to the LAD Team (Losing And Disabled)

It's NICE to have you with us. I also as you do, take A LOT of meds. Are you drinking up to 8 glasses of water? That'll help to FLUSH some of them OUT and it helps. Do you drink soda or water? Since I've started in EARNEST to do the water,, now it's NOT as much of a prob as it was when I drank the soda. My Dr said had she OF KNOWN I was drinking soda AT ALL,,, she would of AT ONCE, had QUITE the talk with me !!!

On this site,,, there's a BUNCH of exercises we CAN Do in our chairs. I can't remember under which heading they are,,, so if you just open the treads,,, by clicking on "Discssion" than "mini Challenges" It ought to show right up,,, it's not under the "games". There are around 20 exercises. Of course this will ALSO Depend on the amount of PAIN you are in,,, PLZ DO NOT injure urself more, cos ur having "a good day" and than pay for it in the long run. (Says me , who's NOT yet balanced on that ! but AM TRYING !).

We are a smaller , but VERY Supportive team,, so please let us know whats going on,,,and we WILL respond.

Bettie, keep your chin up and you can do this. I am on medicine for bipolar disorder, chronic kidney disease, and several other things and most of them cause weight gain. Just remember to take it one day at a time. emoticon

Thank you Lottie. I know I have to commit more to exercising. That is the only thing that will allow me to take my meds without causing weight gain. In addition, exercising will help me absorb the medicines better. I am Type II diabetes and have to take two types of insulins and an insulin booster. All three of these meds causes severe weight gain. Then I take approximately 21 other prescription medicines and supplements most of which causes some other complications. I was prescribed an electric wheelchair a couple months ago. I am walking round and round in my apartment but I can't walk far outside so I have to take my wheelchair where ever I go. These are really limiting my being able to exercise.

Bettie, I can totally understand your situation. I also have to take medicine that causes weight gain but if I don't take it my health will suffer. Just take it one day at a time and you will get results.

HI CWarren (Sorry you didn't sign ur name). I can EASILY relate to what it is ur saying. I am not sure if your able to sit up and do anything with ur legs? Or just with arms for exercise? One that can be done laying down is to take 1lb weights,, and left them up and down slowly. That helps quite a bit. Another is to tighten ur core, legs, buttocks,,, and than relax,, doing this over and over again,, IF IT DOES NOT HURT UR BACK !!!! I am not sure, for my back is very bad, but in a partly sitting up position, I can do this, with the heating pad on.

I am new to the Spark. I started up a few years back and got rid of internet for a while and now I am back on and started back up but I am having trouble with loosing weight.I am not mobile at the moment and so stressed out I really dont have anyone that understands trying to loose weight and not being able to walk. I am a mother to a beautiful teenager that gives me so much joy. It just saddens me that I can't go out and do things with her since I started having troubles back in early 2012... The last year has been hell but the past 2 months have been worse then the past year..I want to loose and need to loose a lot of weight I have been making changes but I still need to move...I cant think of anything else right now.. just a lot going on inside of my head right now.

I can easily relate to what ur saying,, being also A personality. I hope as the time goes by,, you can find some things to do at home, which will bring you joy ,, perhaps you hadn't had time 4before. Do you like to do crafts? Have any hobbies you do, or would like to learn? Maybe take a class at the local community center with something you'd enjoy? There's sooo much morah now I do than I used to and the day passes by QUICKLY, plus its fun to give paintings (I do pastel chalks,, which look just like an oil painting,, and also water color) so those who do not have nice things on their walls,,,something enjoyable to look at,,,and for them to have dreams with. Would this help you out?

In time hon, we all seem to adjust the less pay,,,and OH YEAH !! HOW MUCH LESS IT IS !! I was a supervisor,, and would now be making over 23 an hr,,to THIS !! UGHERS !!! I wish you well as you adjust. Buying in bulk when you have the funds, esp on paper products does help. I buy a larger bag of veggies,,, so that they will last longer,,,and I ALWAYS compare the "unit price" to what the what next size up and down cost. It depends on the product which is a bettah deal..

We have on the site,,, and bunch of exercises listed which do not tax us as much to do,,,if the running is out for you? There are around 20 links there. Its under my name,,, but, LOL its been awhile,, I can't remembah which heading it's under, so plz just click on them,,and you will find them.

I am trying to advertise myself more. I have read it helps in meeting goals. So here goes the next step in my weight loss, life changing journey. I was like a lot of people thin until I got injured 13 years ago at about 22 years old. No more hiking, gym workouts, or basically anything I always did. And my wonderful good paying job gone. Now I weigh 230, down from 245. I went from 135 to 265 or so lost down to 185 back up again.It has been a long and physically depressing 13 years. I can do well on my food for the most part. Workouts can be the tricky issue. I am so limited and I feel I have not accomplished anything because I am not running 5 miles or working til I fall over from exhaustion (not pain limits) I set small goals to get to my ultimate goal. My mood swings all over from moment to moment. I will do really good then fair. I have a long way to go. My disability is physical and effects my entire body and has began causing mind and vision issues. For now that is my self share.

I think I forgot to say hi yesterday when I signed up??? lol...Got a bit overwhelmed with all that you do the first few days. Glad I am here, was with Sparks a few years ago and had to leave due to no internet connection, but back now.

I am still trying to get used to living on disability pay, it is so hard to eat right when you have limited funds, but have found some ways to get a lot of the foods I need to eat. My biggest whine is the fatigue that comes with the illness. I have to fight to stay awake and move! Being an "A" personality, having lead an active lifestyle, it is an adjustment that is hard for me. I have learned that in slowing down there is time to enjoy the sun coming up, going down, the birds teaching their young, my cats chasing each other. God and I spend more time together and my family has been a strength for me, taking over the cooking and most of the heavy cleaning. Life is in a new chapter but still good.

Hope to get to know you all and be a part of this group.

Hi! I'm Sharon and I am also disabled. I have the autoimmune illness Mixed Connective Tissue Disease (MCTD) and Pulmonary Fibrosis. I get short of breath easily and am on supplemental oxygen 24/7. I've been involved with pulmonary rehab for about five weeks now and am up to about 20 min. of exercise twice a week. I want to keep increasing that and start eating better too to lose 120 lbs. of weight. Glad to find this group.

HI Lottie WELCOME !! And U of course my dearah friend, Dee !! :)

I ALSO take meds,, at this point 11 prescriptions and 4 vits. I DO NOT LIKE THEM !! And YES most of them say "Weight gain" , but I've learned I can NOT eat as most can who are also allotted the 1200 - 1450 cals a day I am "allowed". When I see myself starting to gain and gain,,, I cut my goal for cals,, up to 1000. Than I go 3 days at 1000, than 4 days at the 1250 to 1450,,,, and when I go back to the 1000 cals,,, my weight DOES DROP !!

I learned this trick on what was "Sparks LIVE mind" and open chat for us, where we had 2 leaders (or even 1) who lead the class,,, which we all attended,,,it was a paid chat,,, and I felt it was WELL WORTH IT !! We all became so CLOSE and LEARNED AND LEARNED !! It was soo NEAT !! I WISH Sparks would do this again !!! I had also been asked to be a leader on it,, the pay (cos it was a charged site,, we did get paid) was AWESOME !!! I turned it down,,,cos my body will NOT BEHAVE to allow me to be on the putah at any exact time. SIGH !

I've never been to Oz,,, one of the few places I've not. :) Maybe some day????

I can't say as some would say "I am "so sorry" ur using a chair, cos I use mine QUITE A LOT
and personally I see MANY benefits of it. I go A LOT FASTER than I did when I walk (which hurts to much, and often breaks my bones, or hurts me way to much ! I am w/out right now,, due to living circumstances,,an d trying to move to where I CAN use it again,,,and sure enough,, foot is very much acting up,, I am a virtual prisioner inside !) So yes that's another one you mentioned,, you CAN GO OUTSIDE AT WILL !! WOOHOOO !! And take busses if you have them there that are equipped,,, FREEDOM KIDDO !! FREEDOM !! HOW I MISS IT !!

PLUS if you have any friends who use them,, or SHHOOT make Friends who DO,, and have RACES !! HAHAHAHA I LOVE THAT myself !! My old chari was VERY FAST and I WON MOST ! HAHAHAH!!!

Also I have a cat who LOVES to be SPUN around, but I can't really do that cos my neck is to bad, but now I go very slowly and she PURRS LIKE A FOOL: !! So for those who LOOK AT US like "YOU POOR THING !" IF ONLY they KNEW HUH?????? I have a BALL !!! WAY TO MUCH !!!!

Its ALL in the ATTITUDE kiddo !! ALL IN THe TUDE !!

Remember as I just told Andrea,,, there are LOTS of exercises on the site,,, just need to HUNT for them,,,, they are hidden below ALL the info we have here,,, we are a BUSY site,,,, for those who want exercises sitting down. Hello all,
My name is Andrea. I have lots of weird problems that no one can figure out. I've had both shoulders rebuilt (thankfully solved problems with those!), back surgery to remove 1 of 3 herniated discs that was pinching a nerve, but now I have permanent nerve damage because they waited so long to do surgery. I have a degenerative issue in all lumbar discs that have been causing more problems recently. I have more knee problems than I know how to explain, but am grateful I'm still able to do as much as I am.
Most of my exercise comes from yoga/pilates or swimming as my legs collapse without warning making most things slightly dangerous for me.. I wish everyone luck this year!

Hi, my name is Jenye and I am from Australia. I have had MS for the last 26 years and have just graduated into using a wheelchair when I am outside and a walker in the house. My balance is really bad and it won't be long before the chair will be inside as well.

I love gardening and cooking and I listen to CD recorded books as now my vision is starting to go.

What a fabulous team you have here and I am very pleased to have found it.

Hello! My name is Donna.
I am 34 years old. I've had chronic pain from a degenerative spine since I was 23. I was considered permanently disabled when I was 29. I am up to 8 herniated/bulging discs with no specific accident to have caused them. I have had TONS of trouble finding doctors and getting anywhere, I feel like most look at me like I just want drug - totally not the case. I just want "life" back. I want to be able to do what I need to, some of what I want to, and NOT be in pain all day every day!
Looking for good calorie burning exercises that aren't too taxing on my back. Love getting suggestions. I'm not much for water currently - bathing suit phobic :-)

Hi there, My name is Sandra. I joined SP in 2008 and have been dieting on and off a number of years. I am a 47 year old mom to two boys: ages 7 and 13.

I am disabled for a number of reasons: Diabetic nerve damage to both hands, torn knee cartilage, arthritis in my knees, back problems and pain throughout my body at times. I can walk only short distances and have limited mobility.

I am looking to workout DVDs I can do that do not require alot of bending of my knees, I would love to do zumba but my left knee cannot do those things at this time. I am a fall risk due to my knee injury. I am hoping in time with weight loss, I can reduce that risk and continue living a healthier life.

Hello all--new here, and hoping to get healthier. I've been up and down for the past few years when it comes to nutrition and exercise, I've made better choices when it comes to my health in the past few months, and trying to get back on track with exercise.
Often times I want to do certain activities, push myself too hard, and end up hurting (and consequently not being able to work out) the following day or two. My goal is to hit my desired weight, and to make my leg muscles as strong as possible before my next surgery, in hopes that recovery will be quick!
