Hi,

I am 30 years old. I have a form of Muscular Dystrophy. I am not in a wheelchair yet but I wear braces.

I try to do free weights at least twice a week and also get in cardio at least twice a week. I try to push my self hard and do what I can as far as walking. I want to walk as much as I can as long as I still can, so this is my time to do it. I want to lose weight so maybe I can feel like I am have more flexibility and walk a bit better or feel stronger.
I do wear braces because I have drop foot, so at times when I have bad days, I can feel a bit sluggish. I did the other day when I went out for a walk, but at least I kept going and feel that the more I go the more it helps me walk a little better each time.
I also like the Shake Weight. It is only 6 minutes long for the exercises and I do what I can. There is only about one exercise I can't do totally, so I modify it. The Shake Weight is 2 lbs but for free weights I use 5. I lay down on my yoga mat on the floor and that helps to work my muscles and move the weights around better. I also do therapy almost every day (take home exercises).
I did get surgery a few years ago to strengthen my left arm so that it can have better range of motion. The type of muscular dystrophy I have affects my arms so I could not raise them both very high at one point. Now after the surgery, I can with the left arm. I still have weakness in my right arm and it has gotten weaker over the last few years. I just haven't had the opportunity to get surgery on that one, but still might if I can.
But it is good to be here and sharing about my weight loss goals because I have always had troubles of losing weight in my life because of this disability. I feel now that I have worked out here and ther and then eventually almost everyday and try to walk more, it has helped made me stronger to do more exercising with this disease. I do still have days where I get weak though and don't feel like doing anything. But every little bit helps and I at least try to do therapy though because that helps stretch me out.
Once I have gotten over the hurdle
