Nice to meet you, Amy!
Thanks for sharing some things about you.

I am in education as well, as an assistant. I used to work mostly with special needs children. Now, I am in the English as an Additional Language program.

All the best with your final classes!

I'm glad that you decided to stick around this time. The site is great, but we only get out of it what we put in.

I'm sure as the years go by, your husband and you will get to know each other even more, and learn the art of communication even better than now.

1. I'm Amy and I just joined this group.
2. I'm a Mom of one little boy who is 2, have been married almost 3 years, and I'm also a teacher taking my master's classes online for Special Ed. I'm taking my last class this next semester!
3. I gained all of this weight around 19 or 20. I maintained this same heavy weight until after I had my son when I gained 15 more pounds. I lost all of the baby weight breastfeeding and then it ALL came back after I stopped this. Then, my gall bladder started to act up and I had to go on a very low fat diet until it was removed. It was like I went FOOD CRAZY eating all of the food that I hadn't been able to literally stomach for month's! So, you got it, before I knew it I was 15 pounds heavier than my final baby weight amount! UGH!
4. Water Aerobics is my favorite way to work out. I also like Leslie Sansone video's. I'm going to give Jillian Michael's a try and just checked out the 30 day shred video from the library to see if I'll like it! I've tried Zumba and other "dancey" cardio workout's, but they just aren't for me.
5. My husband...well...he's a good father. He can be selfish at times and needs to take a class on effective communication:). I do love him and he means a lot to me. We are quite compatible and there is a lot of chemistry between us. I would be lost without him and he is definitely my better half, but I wish that he would think more of other's before he does something and also learn how to communicate better than he does right now.
6. We met online and have always lived in the same state. Our first date involved putt putt golf and going to a dinner theatre in a city that was halfway between us at the time. We'd talked quite a bit on the phone, through instant messaging, and text messages so I knew quite a bit about him already before our first date.
7. I knew right away that I was going to marry Alex! He has a very sweet disposition that my son also has which is awesome:). I love his sense of humor which can sometimes be a little out there.
8. I signed up for Spark People YEARS ago and kept deleting all of the e-mail's that came to me. My major motivator this time around to lose weight is my cholesterol. So, I stopped deleting the e-mail's and decided to just log on about a few month's ago to see what might just happen.
9. What happened when I logged in is I FELL IN LOVE with this website. It is a dieter's dream come true! I'm addicted to earning points and this has been the only thing that has kept me in line in terms of working out and eating right. I'm being somewhat consistent and have managed to bounce back after I have a day where I went WAY too much over my calorie intake, like today:(, and I think that I would like this more that Weight Watcher's. I'm not a meeting person, I don't like to be weighed in like I'm going to market (sorry Weight Watcher's fans), and I don't get the point system at all!
10. I'm trying the Mediterranean Diet! My cholesterol is at 210 which isn't too terribly high, but I'm only 33 and want to be around for a long, long time. So, I made a conscientious choice a few months ago to cozy up to the idea of eating more fish, fruits, and vegetables. I can feel the difference when I eat something fattening like I did tonight for supper. I've discovered that there is more fish in the sea than I realized. HA ha! Outside of Spark People, this is ANOTHER thing that is keeping me in line somewhat. I'm also trying to eat whole wheat pasta even more which seems to help quite a bit.

11. This is like the P.S. I look forward to meeting more people through Spark People and tracking my weight loss progression!

2) I married the most beautiful and caring woman, her name is Amber
3) After our first date I somehow ended up staying the night and I just never left
4) We both were too scared to say I love you so we would say I like you, really really like you
5) She busted me staring at her when we first met and I almost backed into a building watching her walk away
6) She is an amazing mother to our 3 wonderful children
7) I have been a horrible husband to her and yet she still loves me and is giving me this one last chance to what is right
8) I have allowed God into my life and have started to walk the straight path for my wife and our children
9) Everyday I am getting a little bit better and a little bit farther down my path
10) My wife and I have been talking as much as possible since Saturday, and I'm very happy that we have had no arguments, we haven't raised our voices and we are expressing ourselves so much better.

I knew I was going to marry my husband after only a couple of dates, too! It's funny how when we know, we just know.

Good for you for #8. Marriage isn't always easy, but so rewarding when we stick it out through the hard times.

You would get along with my dh - he is a time and neat freak as well!

Sorry to hear that you are having back issues. Not fun.

I did not realize that dogs get that 'lightbulb' moment when they realize what you want them to do. Interesting.

1) My pets are very important to me. We have one cat and three dogs. I had a cat for 22 years-still miss her very much. One of our pups is a puppy mill rescue-a difficult, but incredibly rewarding experience.
2) I almost always have an audience in the bathroom at home (pets), even when just flossing my teeth.
3) I love working out to the Power 90 videos, but can't right now due to back issues.
4) I'm completing certification to become a dog trainer. I love the "lightbulb" moment dogs get on their faces when they've realized what you want them to do. Positive reinforcement training methods are a great way to train. I don't believe in hitting and yelling at your dog in order to get what you want.
5) My DH and I are avid readers. We own over 400 books combined and have to store most of them.
6) I have a sweet tooth. Luckily, fruit can also satisfy it, but sometimes only chocolate will do.
7) I'm a stickler for time. If DH says we're leaving at a certain time, I get anxious if we don't leave by then. At our wedding, the priest came into the bridal room and asked if I was nervous. I told him no, but I was upset that the wedding hadn't started yet-it was scheduled to start at 3:00 and it was 3:01.
8) I love shoe shopping. No matter what my clothing size, my shoe size stays the same!
9) I'm a neat freak. Everything has to be in it's place.
10) I'm a pretty good cook, but DH is better than me. I love that he cooks most of our meals.

Hey, fellow Canadian! We're practically neighbours (lol!) - I'm in Winnipeg Manitoba.

It IS cold here now. It was terrible when I went out earlier for some groceries.

Congrats on the 7 months!

Good for you for donating your hair. My older dd did that just a couple of months ago. Hers was not as long as yours, though.

I have a lot in common with you and your family as seen in your #6,7,8 points. My mother is practising Anglican right now - in the past my father was thinking of going into the priesthood, but he did not. My godfather is an Anglican priest, though (as is his wife, come to think of it). I have worked with autistic/other special need children as an Educational Assistant.

I have a BA in psychology and sociology and am a writer as well. I have only published one thing in a magazine too(as posting fiction on line probably doesn't count, right?)!

I have sung, played piano, oboe, and bassoon.

1. I have had at least one pet guinea pig since I was ten years old, except for a four-year period following university. (I'm 34 now.)

2. I live in Saskatchewan; it is COLD here right now! I grew up in Alberta, though, and I've also lived in Ontario and BC.

3. I have been married to my husband since July 3, 2010. Yes, that's nearly seven months for us!

4. I grew my hair out for three years and had it cut from waist-length to chin-length on my 30th birthday. I donated the hair to a wig charity. I started growing it out to donate again, but am now in love with my hair and want to see how long it's going to be able to get. It's just reached tailbone length (I can tuck it into my jeans), but I need to get a trim. I'm thinking about adding bangs. I'm hoping my hair will grow to be longer than my aunt's knee-length braid. ;)

5. I'm the oldest child of four, and the only girl. Two of my brothers are married, and one of them has two daughters.

6. My father is an Anglican priest, like his father and his older brother (my uncle is actually a bishop). My brother who has two daughters is also an Anglican priest. My other married brother is doing his second Masters degree in Edinburgh. My single brother is a university librarian and writes non-fiction for Marvel Comics. My mother teaches piano. I spent ten years working full-time with autistic children, two years working full-time as a church secretary, and then started working as an editor for an organization that does quality assurance surveys for agencies that provide services for individuals with disabilities. I do that as a contractor now.

7. I have a Bachelor of Music in Composition and completed the coursework for a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology.

8. I play the clarinet, sing, and play the guitar. I've also dabbled in the flute, oboe, and piano.

9. I am a writer but so far have only one publication credit, for a parenting magazine in Calgary.

10. I have Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and take Adderall XR to help manage the symptoms. I have had some trouble with anxiety, and I also was diagnosed with clinical depression a few years ago, but stopped taking medication in 2008.

Peace & Blessings!

I feel the same way about my husband!

Oooh...good team. That's my hubby's favourite one since he was a boy.

My son faithfully follows the Redwings, and my daughter is a die-hard Penguins fan. The years that those two were pitted against each other for the Stanley Cup were sure interesting in my house!

Thanks. I would be nothing without the love and support of my wife (Char1970).

My favorite team is the Montreal Canadiens although there are a number of others that I like as well.

There are individual players scattered throughout the NHL that I respect too.

I agree about sparkpeople, I will talk about it to anyone, lol!

My homeschooling friends say the same about their children. One little tyke used to yell out math answers when his sibling would take 'too long'.

Walking is my go-to exercise. I find I lose weight faster when I include it in my repertoire.

Thanks for sharing, Melly, even though it is difficult for you to post things like this!

I enjoyed hearing a bit about you.

It's a good thing neither of you like watching sports. If one spouse does, and the other doesn't, it sure can create a lot of tension in the house!

Why are miniature Schnauzers your favourite? What do you like about them?

1) Jim and I are approaching our 15th anniversary. Sometimes it is hard to believe. I am lucky to be married to my best friend.

2) I have two boys 18 and 12, Brendan and Bishop.

3) Two Miniature Schnauzers, Pepper (13) and Buddy (3). Pepper was 5 when she came to live with us. Buddy was 1. He was a rescue. This is my FAVORITE breed of dog.

4) I was raised in New Mexico.

5) I moved to Texas a week before my 20th birthday. I call Texas home, this is where I met my husband and my children were born.

6) I play video games.

7) I do not like to watch sports. Lucky for me, neither does Jim. Although we sit through the Super Bowl every year.

8) We are remodeling our home, and have been in the process of it for 4 years. Probably have 2 more years to go.

9) I love spicy food. I tend to over eat when we have Mexican or Thai. Jim does not like spicy food. LOL!

10) I always have a hard time posting things like this.

Glad to hear your surgery is scheduled and your doc is a great one.

I understand about the motivation. I think it is a part of the overall process. The trick is not letting it get us down, and picking ourselves up and starting again.

I wish you all the best.

Yes I have a great doctor. All she does is breasts all day long. Surgery will be on the 9th of Feb. she is sure she can get all of it out. Its a scary journey for sure but I have a lot of hope I will make it through this just fine.

My motivation just fell away. I lost so much weight and was felling fantastic. I could walk 5 miles, exercise for hours, then go to work. on my feet for another 6. I was so happy. then the appendix burst. and surgery and the fibermalgia started. I can't walk a block with out serious pain. if I exercise before work I can't make it through the evening. I got to feeling that all that work was for nothing. and went on a 6 month eating binge. gained back 40 lbs. I am just getting back on track now I have to get my mind right

And that's a big blow, to be working through breast cancer. Do you have good docs?

CJ,

The decision to be vegetarian should be left up to the individual. Both my husband and I decided to be vegetarians on our own and for our own reasons. As for our children, I don't want to force a certain eating habit on them. I personally do not think that is right. Their eating habits are their decision. So we are going to raise them without a resricted eating habit so they can make their own decisions.

CRAZYJAMO13 - Welcome! Nice to meet you. Tattooed wedding rings? What a novel idea! Just curious - why wouldn't you raise your children vegetarian? My grandmother's name was Sarah Jane! Actually that's where my 'j' comes from in my name.

MISMISSYV - Welcome! I love mysteries as well. Do you have any favourite series or authors? I enjoy cross-stitch as well, but also do not get enough time to indulge.

The Wii is a lot of fun, and even most of the regular games get you moving.
Yes there is a Charlie Brown New Year's one and something about Baby New Year, I know this because when it comes to cartoons my husband is forever a 6yr old.

There are new year's cartoons? I didn't know that.
My SIL and her family got a Wii for Christmas as well. They had it with them when they visited this past week - they seemed to enjoy it with my kids, but I didn't try it.

Well done on quitting smoking!
You are so right about having to take care of ourselves. If we don't, who will?

I am an aspiring novelist myself. Have you finished any novels?

Sorry to hear about your dad.

Those are some of my favourite activities as well.

I look forward to getting to know you more!

JENSMA - Nice to meet you! Well done on making Dean's list! Good for you! How was your bike ride? I hear you about crafts results not being what you envision. I enjoy cross-stitch and things, but am not the best at it!

New pic CJ? Looks good.

Since this is the ML team, I thought I'd try to note 10 things about hubby and me.

1. We are high school sweethearts who attended different schools.

2. Yes, I married my prom date. (This fact makes our high school senior son shudder! He is taking a very nice girl to prom later this month.)

3. We have been married almost 28 years; together 32 years.

4. We have three children, 18, 14, and 8.

5. We are obviously slow learners! emoticon

6. We have been in our home 21.5 years.

7. We went to grammar school with a bunch of girls that I went to high school with.

8. He graduated from the same high school as my brother, though they attended the school at different times.

9. We're both right-handed.

10. I am usually on his right--driving, sleeping, eating. My 'usual' place at the family dinner table is on his right. I don't know why that is.

1. I live in the beautiful state of Washington, but home will always be Alabama.

2. DH and I have been married 5 years this past February 29th, wait there wasn't a February 29th this year. DH has learned just because February 29th only comes around every 4 years, doesn't mean there isn't an anniversary each year. Not my first marriage, but my last.

3. I have one daughter, Melody, who is 27 and the mother of my wonderful granddaughter, Hayden (25 months)and another granddaughter due June 3.

4. I ALWAYS wear acrylic nails. I don't go for the regular white tips though. I change the color of the tips every couple of weeks. Right now they are green, left over from St Patty's day.

5. We have 3 cats: Lucky is 9 years old weighs about 7 pounds but is the BOSS. Pilgrim and Prisscilla, are true brother and sister, 4 years old and weigh 17 and 15 pounds.

6. I was adopted and feel blessed to have had the best parents anybody could have asked for.

7. I have one brother, my parent’s natural child.

8. I met my DH online. He lived in Australia and I lived in Alabama.

9. We got married in Las Vegas on Leap Day 5 years ago.

10. My favorite sports are University of Alabama football (ROLL TIDE ROLL!) and NASCAR (especially Tony Stewart).
