Yes please do get to the place where you can take care of those special animals :) I'm pretty new to spark - its been 3-4 weeks. Love that everyone is so friendly and supportive. I wish you the best of luck of your journey! emoticon

Yes, definitely don't cut too much food-wise. Even on The Biggest Loser, they comment that if the competitors try to cut corners but cutting out food or fasting, it backfires because their bodies compensate by going into starvation mode. I've also found (and have read) that if I choose one day where I "splurge" a bit (nothing too drastic, I'm not talking about bingeing out or anything) - it can fool your metabolism in a good way. I choose Sundays because that's the day my family goes out to lunch after church.

so definately exercise then. i read somewhere that if you cut so drastically your calories your body will starve itself and you wont lose weight. Before my 40's that was the easiest way for me to lose. Now it doesnt work :(

Hi Debbie and welcome to SparkPeople! This is my second time using it but my first time REEEALLY using it. So glad you got through the leg infection last year. How scary! I'm going to post my introduction to this group separately but I'll just say here that I'm 49 and my starting weight was 300 on February 8th. I'm now at 265 and doing pretty well. I completely understand what you're talking about - not being able to get your mind off food. It's really hard but I have found that I just try to use the obsession for good. What I mean is, I am on this website a LOT - I track EVERYTHING I eat - even if I totally blow it, which I definitely do. It is pretty sobering to have to honestly enter that I ate four Hershey bars in one day. Ugh! But just know that every day is a new day and we can start over with a clean slate. Having a good week with a nice loss is very motivating. I, myself, have SO MANY reasons to get this weight off and to get healthy. I'm sure you do as well! I am also type 2 and was starting to have so much pain from carrying t his extra weight around. I already feel better with the 35 pounds off. I had gastric bypass surgery 12 years ago -- obviously failed. I just want to do it right this time. I want to be here to watch my children get married and run around with my grandkids. I am very motivated to ride a horse again and ski again - both things that I really enjoyed when I was young. Well, I'm babbling a bit so I guess I'll mosey along. It's finally warming back up here in Illinois where I live and I'm hoping to get out on my bicycle again today! Just try to move some every day and don't worry about fixating on food - just try to make better choices, a little more/better every day and hopefully the success you have from doing so will keep you motivated. Read my blog to see how I'm doing - I definitely have hard times! We can do this! emoticon

Hi everyone. I am a newbie spark people. I am 47 years old and weigh 327 pounds. I have had type 2 for the last 13 years. Last year I got a really bad infection in my leg. I had ruptured my achilles tendon and the infection started internally. There were no outward signs of the infection as I had no open sores. I began running really high fevers for about a week, ranging from 102-104 degrees. When I had a fever I took something and my temperature went down. After doing this for a week my fever was not able to be broken with medication. I started having urinary tract infection symptoms and finally went to the doctor. This was on a Thursday. By Sunday the back of my leg was swollen and really warm to the touch. I went to the ER and ended up being admitted. My lab work was really bad. A surgeon came in that evening and it was decided that I was going to have surgery on my leg the next day. I went to surgery Monday morning and that was the last thing I remembered....except for one thing...for the next 17 days. Apparently I was so sick that after surgery I was not able to breathe on my own and ended up on a ventilator....for 17 days. This already a long story but I was in septic shock. My family was told that I probably was not going to live. Along with not being able to breathe, my kidneys were not working right and I ended up on dialysis. That was a year ago. I survived, not being able to work for two months. I did return to work after 2 months. By the grace of God I survived. Dialysis was only temporary and although I had to continue with a wound vac, eventually after a subsequent surgery for a skin graft things are back to normal.

The only bad thing about this is that I have been doing very poorly with my diabetes, Eating right and not overeating are big issues for me. Food is like crack to me...I just have to have it. I don't know what I can do to get my mind off of food. I was able to quit smoking cigarettes and stop using methamphetamines. All without treatment. Do you want to know the ironic part? Most people that smoke meth end up being really skinny, because it's like doing speed, I quit four years ago after smoking it for five years. The ironic part is that I never lost weight while doing it. None at all.

Anyway if anyone has some ideas that can help me take my mind off of wanting to eat all the time I would really appreciate it. I look forward to being in this group and hopefully this will be successful. I had contemplated gastric bypass surgery but my insurance won't cover it and I don't have the 25,000 to pay for it myself.

Hi !!! 358.5lbs is what I weighed in Tuesday at Doctors office. This is one day at a time for me. I tend to overdo things then I give up cause I feel like it is taking over my life then I give up. I can't do that this time. My life depends on it so I have two hours each morning set aside to blog exercise and to meet my goals then rest of day only have to blog food n exercise for the evening. Please keep me in your thoughts as I will have you in mine

Ps my goal is to lose at least 6 lbs a month

Be Blessed!!!!!

Hey everyone! I am a stay at home housewife right now and need to lose approx. about 155 pds. I was a WW member but due to a financial change I had to let that go for now and come back to SparkPeople cuz it's free! But the real reason is since I was let go of my job of 12 yrs and eating my stress away due to my brother being very ill, I gained a ton of weight. On top of what I was dealing with. So now I need to really get it off. I have two family members that are Type II diabetic and my dad had a major heart attack again this last November and now has congestive heart failure. So I have several strikes against me. So I am hoping that the support I get here is gonna help!! Thanks!

Not giving up!!!

Hello. My name is Briana. I am new here. Like alot of people I have tried sparkpeople before, but never really stuck with it long enough to help. I am a sahm of twin boys who just turned 8. One of my ds has type 1 Diabetes, the other one has Autism. I stay very busy taking care of them and dealing with all their stuff. I am 42 years old with type 2 diabetes. I need to loose weight so that I can be around for these kids because they are gonna need me! The next 6 months is my last stab at weight loss and if I do not loose what I want to--I plan on having weight loss surgery this fall. I really enjoy having people I can talk to and help motivate and help keep me motivated. I have a long road before me, but I will get there one step at a time!

Hi, joined this team, hoping it will help me get back on track. I am facing the truth I am at 244 the highest ever and goal at 144 or less. I have been there before (139 and 140) after losing 90 plus pounds less than 6 years ago. I can't believe I let it all come back. Crying myself to sleep nightly over this failure. Reaching out for a couple buddies to lose it with me.

Hi, like a lot of others here I've tried Spark people in the past and it worked for a while. I am addicted to food, so although I can lose weight I can't keep it off. This time I don't want to survive by deprivation, that just leads to bingeing. I want to learn to change my relationship with food. My first step is going to be trying to be mindful when I eat. No mindless munching. Pay attention when I eat and enjoy it. I am 46 (almost 47) I started by weighing 290lbs. I feel like I'm 70. I know that when I eat better, I feel better. You would think that would make it easy to eat well, but my sickness doesn't make it so easy. I normally am a very private person and don't join all these teams, but as I say I'm trying to do things differently. Please join me in my journey and help me reach my goal of 150lbs. Thanks

Namaste

Hi! I'm Nikki. I was on Spark a billion years ago, but just wasn't ready, so it didn't work for me. Ok. I didn't work for me. I've rejoined, bigger than ever.
I'm tired of being tired! I'm sick of being sick! I do want to LOOK a heck of a lot better, but now, at 40 with two kiddos under 10, it's more important for me to focus on HEALTH. I want to be here for my kids as they grow up.
So, now I'm ready. No fad diets, just better food choices coupled with exercise. Up 'til now the bulk of my "exercise" was me going from the couch to the kitchen. NO MORE SEDENTARY LIFESTYLE FOR ME!

Hi everyone,
I'm in the same age and weight scenario as TUPELOHONEY42. 42 years old, 245+ pounds, and wanting to get down to about 140, if possible. I just joined SP today, and I'm hoping the information on the site, tracking food and exercise, and receiving community support from others in similar situations will help me in achieving what feels like an impossible goal. Time to make some changes!

Hi Rheta,

I am new to SparkPeople too. I can totally relate to you about all this snow dragging you down!! I can't wait to actually see some grass and dirt again! My favorite form of exercise is walking in the woods on paths with my husband. Since we haven't been able to do that all winter, I decided to join the Curves a couple of miles from my house. I really enjoy it. It's a whole body toning workout in 30 minutes. I have also be contemplating whether or not to get a treadmill. I love to walk, just wondering if I would enjoy a treadmill as much? What form of exercise do you currently do?

Hello everyone, I am not new to spark, I joined January 2012, but have recently had a birthday that tossed me into the 40 category. Hope everyone is doing good and feeling good about their choices. And remember, the weight did not go on overnight and it will not come off overnight. Everyone falls off the wagon once in a while, don't beat yourself up, just get up, dust yourself off, and climb back on.

Hi everyone! I am a 42 year old diabetic who has about 120 pounds to lose to be at a "healthy" weight on my Dr's chart, but am looking to only go to 140 lbs. But when you are sitting at 245+, that seems a long way to go! I lost my husband two years ago and have really struggled immensely since his death. We have two teenage daughters - one who is graduating high school this year! So my hands are very, very full. Losing weight - or even taking care of my weight - has not been a goal until my best friend since 4th grade, Melly813, really began encouraging me. Now we are both on this path, and I am hoping that I not only learn to care for myself and lose the weight I need to, but also gain some wonderful friends - all of you! It has been WONDERFUL to read what all of you are saying...it motivates me and encourages me and makes me know I am not alone! Thank you, everyone!!

We are made to persist. That is how we find out who we are. -Tobias Wolff

Hi All!
My name is Rheta and I am new to SparkPeople. I heard about this site from a few people I work with and decided to join because I am on a journey to improve/change my health and lifestyle, and I would like to surround myself with like minded individuals who share the same goals and struggles as I do. A solid source of support is always a good thing :)
I am a single mom of two daughters, ages 14 and 20, and I have a very stressful job (I am a nurse and I manage a Home Care agency for one of our local hospital systems), so I am always busy with taking care of other people, so sometimes the challenge is taking care of myself.
I recently went to the Dr (on 2/1/14) and found out that I have metabolic syndrome and am thisclose to being a diabetic. After seeing what can happen in long term diabetics,I decided now it is time to start REALLY taking care of myself. I started following a diabetic diet on 2/2 and counting my carbs and so far have lost 13 pounds, but I don't want to lose my motivation and/or get off track...so here I am!
I think that one of my biggest challenges will be staying motivated to exercise. I am tired of seeing all this snow where I live and hate cold weather, so I always tend to fall off the wagon and become inactive during the winter months...so any/all tips would be appreciated!

Hi! Im Sandra, mother of 3 with 2 at home. I am married (14 years and counting). I no longer homeschool my kids but they do attend public school at home (there is a difference). I have been with Sparkpeople on and off over the past few years, but this year I am more active and more consistent. I need to loose over 100 pounds for medical purposes and for myself. I have been overweight all my life and I seriously need to get the weight off. emoticon

Hello! I'm Sheri, a homeschooling mom to 7 amazing kids. I've been on SparkPeople for 1.5 years, I think, but I'm finally taking action! 2014 is my year! My wake-up call came when I finally weighed twice what I *want* to weigh. I'm carrying another complete adult around with me! Well, SHE has got to GO! There's only room for one of us, and it's going to be ME!

Im around 45, single white female no kids never been married. Sort of been a chunckster all my life. LOL
Started getting seriously unhealthly, sick even.... latadatada.... chest pains, easily winded, and feeling my pulse in my ears........ in bed! , and then the blood bank wouldn't take my donations anymore due to too high of hypertension.
I cant afford the medical bills or prescriptions or keep on top of any of that daily pill popping...etc. So basically I can choose to die, or ACT to LIVE!!!

I have 151 lbs in total to loose, and I've lost over 7 so far.

I've learned I'm a carbohydrate addict.
Well not exactly, I have a chemical imbalance in the brain and most "comfort foods" cause the secretion of a lot of the stuff I naturally lack.

I have to learn what to eat to maintain a normal and consistent chemical level...
so I am not overly tempted with crazy cravings for the JUNKY SUGAR FOODS that are just so bad for me.

Most all of my crap comes directly or indirectly from simply put, "BAD HABITS."
I have to relearn how to think, talk, eat, act/react, self sooth, set goals, celebrate success, and continue on forever making small smarter choice substitutions to whatever about me or my methods, ((and especially be honest about)) of whatever is not working or could get better.

That sounds so easy huh? lmao

Hi Everyone,

I'm Yvonne, 47 years old, mom in a his/mine/ours blended family of 5 children: 25 yo girl, 14 yo boy, 13 yo boy, 13 yo boy, and 4 yo boy.

Thin in my teens and physically active, I began gaining weight toward the end of college and have swung up and down on the scale, but overall trending upwards, until I stepped on the scale almost 2 wks ago and was actually shocked by where I found myself, wanting to lose 131 lbs. This follows having lost 30+ lbs 1 1/2 years ago and gaining all of it back plus another 16. Okay, enough!

I want to be healthier. I can still get around OK, but I find my body is stiffer and has more aches than I'd like. Additionally, I want to be around for my children (of the ones mentioned above, I am the mother of 2 boys, 13 and 4 years old). My 4 year old son has Down syndrome, and while I have high hopes for and am optimistic about his future, I also realize I want to be around as long as I can to be of help and support to him.

Weight/size, per se, isn't as much the issue or motivator for me (although it would be nice to be more fit and thinner again, I don't deny that). I was never one who felt ashamed of my size, and I still feel attractive overall (just not in a swimsuit!). But I do want to be healthier, for myself first, and for my family, to set a good example for my children and to live more in line with the values we hold and the knowledge we have about the effects of poor dietary and exercise habits on weight. I should mention I am the only overweight person in my family. That makes it tough!

I'm fortunate in that we already have pretty healthy base nutritional habits (no refined grains, very little sugar, fish and fowl for meat, lots of veg, etc.-- unhealthy snacks/choices are my downfall nutritionally, coupled with lack of activity). And my employer allows a 30-minute wellness walk 3X per week during work hours, so that's a great help with getting a brisk walk in.

I've tried to implement lasting lifestyle improvements before, and I have obviously failed. What will make it different this time? Only I can make it different. I have to take it a day at a time, and keep at it every day. I am about 11 days into my program, and feeling pretty pumped right now, and I challenge myself not to lose motivation and hope a few months into it, and to have the consistency, willpower, and discipline to stick with it. For life.

Hi all,

A returning Sparker after a decade away. I was doing Weight Watchers but since I got my FitBit, I am drawn back to the calorie accountability aspect. There's something about seeing how many calories you're burning a day to make you see exactly what YOUR body needs you to do to lose weight! On the FitBit site, they said the app works with SparkPeople and I have great memories of being a member back in the early 2000s, so here I am.

I did lose 120lbs with a medically supervised, restrictive diet but when we disagreed on my stopping point, I was on my own and didn't eat smart - I made the rookie runner mistake of thinking that because I was running, I could eat anything; and I've gained much of it back and stopped running.

My primary goal is to go back to being a runner again. I miss it so much I actually have dreams where I'm running.

Right now, my weight is too high to get on the road, but once I've lost 25-30 lbs, I will get back out there. In the meantime the ARC trainer, rowing machine and elliptical are my best friends!

Looking forward to getting to know everyone!!

Cheers,
Laura

Hello

Welcome to everyone new! I'm not new to Sparkpeople, but have started a new journey! I know it sounds cliché, but I began on January 1 and so far so good! I'm doing a new program that has allowed me to lose weight and inches, as well as is seeming to help regulate my blood sugar. I'm sleeping better and feeling great! It's amazing how your attitude and confidence can change when you feel good! I know that there is no magic potion to drop excess weight and get healthy over night, but a boost is certainly a good thing to help keep me on track. I know that regardless what program we decide to use is only part of what we need to do, it's only a tool. Great support and mental readiness is also important. Everyone here is so wonderful in offering great support! I knew I needed to come back here!

If anyone needs a buddy, let me know.

Hi everyone!

My name is Lainie and I am a 47 year old mom to three stepsons 10, 13 and 15. I am a pastry chef (!) and I love to cook.

I lost 100 pounds 2 years ago and have gained back 50. I really want to be at my best when my 50th birthday rolls around.

I lost my 100 pounds following a low carb lifestyle and really enjoyed it. I fell off the wagon though and found it really hard to get back on track - I want to do a modified low carb lifestyle. . .focusing on whole grains and protein.

I also miss having all the energy I had previously and am trying to get that back by getting back to walking 4 miles everyday. . .it really helped with my stress levels and general happiness.

I let my work and general busyness knock me off track. . .I have to learn how to put myself first. That's a tough one!

Anyway, I am really excited to be here and join in!

Hi, All.
I just turned 40 on the 15th, so figured I had better "graduate" to the 40-somethings group. :-) My name is Susan and I live in Portland, OR. Since April, 2009, I've lost over 80 pounds on my way to a total of 165 pounds lost. I follow a pretty flexible plan that includes 1-2 high protein shakes a day, real food, and some moderate exercise. But, the big difference is the use of mental toughness techniques for weight loss.
My husband and I post weekly video blogs journaling our weight loss process (and offering helpful tips and tricks that we've learned along the way). If anyone is interested, you can find the link on my SparkPage.
Anyway, glad to be here with the 40-something crowd.
All the best!

Hello all, I am FatMan1968 5’7” and pushing the 300 lbs mark. I severed 13 years in the Marines, when I got out in 1999; I weighed 180 and have packed on 7-8 lbs every year since. My weight and my kegger belly never bothered me until now. I recently started having back pain that is progressively getting worse. I went to the doctor who ran a few tests and as of yet has given no reason for my back pain. He has prescribed me muscle relaxers, pain pills and ordered a few more tests in the near future. He has not named the culprit but it does not take a rocket scientist to know it is dune-lap disease (done lapped over the belt). The fact that I am a big guy is really not my issue, the fact that it is affecting my health and most likely my longevity is. Therefore, I have decided to get out of the chair and start doing something different in my life. Do you think this is the right place to start?

Hi. I am Amy. I am not quite 40 yet but heading there in a few months. I have two high schoolers and an elementary student. We are a busy, on-the-go family. I finished my doctorate in 2012 and work a lot but have more time now that it is done. Also, now that my big kids are on their own more, I want to devote more time to my health and taking care of myself for all of them. So, here I am, ready to go. Looking forward to finding some encouragement and understanding here and would love to root on others in their journey!

I am not new to SP either, but have been away for a few years. I decided to start a whole new account, since I am starting again from where I was many years ago. I had lost 60 lbs with SP and have since gained it all back. I have physical limitations due to spine issues so it makes exercising extra challenging. I really need to get this under control, because I just keep gaining and gaining. I am no longer employed because of my surgeries and chronic pain. I have to start over. Baby steps.

I am all in...one day at a time. I CAN DO IT!

I am not new to Spark but I haven't been here for over a year. I lost and gained 70 pounds over the past year and a half. I can only imagine what stress this has placed on my body. I am here with a new user name so I am reminded of my son who is counting on me to become and remain healthy. Starting is the hardest part. I am hoping to get my mind wrapped around this so I can be successful and lose this weight and regain my self esteem.

It looks like a lot of people are ready to do this once and for all. Let's do it together!

FALULU,

I started almost exactly the same. I will be 43 in 2 months, my starting weight was 265 and I couldn't do anything without needing an inhaler.

I started small. My teenage daughter has "Just Dance" for the WII system. I would do one song with her a night for a week. And I had to use the inhaler the first 3 nights. Then I went to 2 songs. Once I made it up to 4 songs I bought the old Richard Simmons "Sweatin to the Oldies" videos. I now do 1 of them every day, there are 4 videos ranging from 45 to 60 minutes. I am not even out of breath when I finish.

With food I started small too. First nothing after dinner, then changing 1 snack (during the day) to a healthy one. Then changing meals and the rest of the snacks.

I also know myself, I must have dessert. So I bought skinny cow ice creams and fiber one brownies. Both are delicious and I get a dessert every day. This way I don't feel deprived so it is easier to stay on track. Also knowing I get a treat later in the day helps me to say no to all the goodies at the office.

I have lost 50 lbs so far, I hope knowing there is someone else in the exact same situation helps you.

Hi falulu. I am very unfit myself and can't walk far. I think what I am going to do is walk around the house. It isn't big by any means but if I di it enough I can get past a block. I think starting slow is the key. Don't try to walk like a kid walk slow and with purpose. Good luck!

I am not new to sparks, I was here before they had ads. I came back because I lost all my weight and gained it back when the fibromyalgia started. At first I wasn't sure, I logged in and there was a pizza ad on my screen. I had to think on that for a while, did they sell out? Well its not there today so I am back and ready to kick some of my butt.

There will be an answer, let it be.

I am in the same situation. I had dropped to 235 but now I am back to 245 but it's not 269 so there's something to celebrate.

Consistency is my issue!!!

Hi Im returning after not being on this site for some time. I cringed when I saw what my last wt was to where it is now but we all have to start from somewhere. I live in southern ca and am 43. I have a long way to go but what makes it harder is I am very unfit now and easily get winded after a little bit of walking and am at a loss with how to start my exercise regime. Any suggestions. I have about 100 lbs to lose and though I have struggled with my wt for years, this is the heaviest I have been and most unfit

Hello Everybody

I'm not exactly new - I'm returning after being gone for almost a year. The past year has seen more than it's share of bad news and, unfortunately, I responded to that bad news by eating!! I gained back all that I had lost, plus more. UGH But now I'm back and feeling ready to do what I need to do to lose weight and get healthy.

Hi Everyone!

My name is Heather, and I am 41 years old. I have had so many medical problems in the past few years including 2 TIA strokes, 1 Small Stroke(just got out of the hospital 11-10-13), High blood pressure, High Cholesterol, Pre Diabetic, and more. I have struggled with my weight since I was 18 yrs old. I gave up trying to lose weight, UNTIL NOW. I am more determined than ever to lose weight, and become healthy. I have 2 beautiful daughters (Ages 20 & 14), and a loving husband of 23 years. I want to be at and actually enjoy future events in theirs and my life. My brother passed away at the age of 41 3 years ago; and I am more determined then ever to live and live healthy. My oldest daughter brought me to my mom's in Missouri the day I got out of the hospital, as I couldn't be alone. I have lost 14.2Lbs since 11-11-13 and today. God is my Captain and I am the Co-Captain from here on out. Any help anyone can give me, I would appreciate it. I would really like sparks friends, so please add me. I need this group and forums and words of encouragement to get me through the tough days. I feel blessed to be here today.

Today close the door of your past and open the door to your future.
Take a deep breath. Pray. Step on the first step of the ladder.
Walk by faith. Trust and commit to the Lord all your plans.
Start a new chapter in your life right now.

Hello Team! My weight has been up and down (but mostly up) my whole life and now that I'm getting into middle age I just feel like I don't want the second half of my life to be a repeat of the first half (at least in terms of my weight struggles - there are plenty of other things I wouldn't mind repeating emoticon ). So I am hoping to get (and give!) some encouragement, support and accountability here.

Howdy! I am back... not really new, though it's been a long time since I've been here... a very long time. Just needing to get back on track and to lose about 100 lbs or so... remembering that Sparkpeople works... if you work it... I plan to do it this time.

Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time, we will reap a harvest, if we do not give up. - Galations 6:9

Hi there. Thanks for adding me here. I joined Spark people last year and kind of fell away. Well, I'm back at Spark people and determined to stick with it now and would like to meet people doing the same. Last year, I weighed 288. That's just the weight I know. I refused to get on the scale until that day. I know at one point I was around 300. I'm now at 251. I'm not into surgery, pills and drinks. I'm determined to do it naturally. I honestly lost focus for a LONG time and just recently regained it. Hoping to meet new friends here and keep focused this time ;)

Hi, I am Cindy and have been lurking for the last 8 weeks. I am a mother of 2 grown up children who just had the last leave for college. Now that I have more free time, I have decided it is time to live healthy and lose the weight. This time there are no excuses not eat healthy since I am only cooking for 2. With my work schedule allowing me to work from home 3 days a week there is no reason to go out for fast food. Also this gives me time to exercise since I don't have to make the hour commute to work. I am motivated and my husband supports me all the way. This time I am going to do it. I have a family trip scheduled in May to go to Disneyworld and want to be able to walk all day, have plenty of energy, and not worry if I can fit on some of the rides. In the past a couple of them have been a tight squeeze. I look forward to reading everyone's posts with tip ideas, motivation and hearing the success stories. Hopefully in a year I will be one of them. I am off to a great start and hope to continue. Best wishes to everyone.

Hi, I'm Jenny. I'm really going to make an effort at changing my life. I have been overweight all my life and since I'm going to be 50 in 2 short years, I think it's time to turn it around. I hope to find some encouragement from other members here, and I hope I can offer something to others as well. Looks like we are all in this together, so let's have fun. This was day 1 for me, and I'm happy to say that I did very well: 1621 calories and 30 minutes of exercise - chair exercise for me, but exercise just the same. Here is to wishing everyone a great week!!

Go confidently in the direction of your dreams. Live the life you have imagined.

I'm not really new, but new again! I've been off and on SP for years, and am re-committing myself to my weight loss journey. I am in need of support and accountability. Please, feel free to check out by latest blog on my sparkpage and add any words of advice or encouragement. I appreciate you all!

Hi, my name is Jenny. I am back again to do this once and for all with my special angel watching over me to keep me going. Life has thrown me many curve balls for years now, but I am becoming stronger with each one of them. Last year, I lost my 7 yr old daughter to cancer after a 5 1/2 year battle. This year on May 1st I had to undergo brain surgery and a cervical-cranial fusion. Over the years I have learned that with every knockdown, you must get up again. Life still goes on and I have to keep living it the best I can. Strength is within all of us if we choose to use it.

Hello! This is my second time on this team. I joined in '09 when I began Spark. I had great success in the first year and moved on to teams that were fitting for where I was at in my journey at that time. Life happened, I got lax and the weight all came back over the last three years. I want my health back and I need the support of people on similar journeys to do it. I am looking forward to being part of this team again. It has always been so supportive.

*Lisa*

Dwelling on past mistakes does you no good. You can change everything today if you want to, or you can keep living the life you've always lived. It's up to you, but remember this: every moment is an opportunity to change your life.
~Aaron Chavez

I wake up every day with the realization that this is it, that there's only one shot at this life and I can either enjoy the ride and live it to its fullest and to my highest potential or I can stay the way I am.

Hello, all. I'm new to this team, not to SP. I was in the 50-99 pounds to lose group, but I finally decided to be brutally honest with myself - right now I'm a little bit into my goal but I unfortunately need to lose 125 more before I can consider myself in maintenance mode, heh.

I have no doubts that I can do this. I've already lost 25 so far (using SP) and 69 on my own previously, so it's just a small detour on the path I'm already on.

It's good to be here. :)

Hi Everyone!
I'm not new to SparkPeople or this team actually, but I've been gone for QUITE a while and am trying to get back into the groove of losing again. I was doing Jenny Craig and lost about 17lbs, but then they closed my center out of the blue (with none close by) and told me I'd have to switch to doing it online. I figured if I'm going to do that, why pay them?? lol... So, here I am!
Just wanted to say hello to everyone...

Have a Happy Wednesday!
