Hi All!
I am not just new to this team, but also new to Spark. I am looking forward to learning more about the site and this group (as I am now in my 40s and have 125 lbs. to lose). I am on a mission to finally adjust my lifestyle to be healthy, for myself and my family. My husband (of 10 years) and I have 3 active and precocious kids ages 6, 3, and almost 2. They keep us busy and on the go. My husband has always been active and healthy, and I am working hard to ensure my kids learn the right tools so that they have a long and healthy life. I realized, that if I want to be healthy, active and live a long life too, I need to make some serious changes.

I am determined to stop the cycle of up & down dieting. I am working with my doctor and my nutritionist to make certain that the changes I am making are the right ones for me.

I am also determined to start loving myself and doing things I enjoy regardless of the assumed judgment of those in the world around me. On that note I have started swimming again. I have always loved the water, and (double bonus) my body feels good in the water, versus on the treadmill. It has been a slow start, but I am already seeing a change in my endurance and my attitude :)

So that is me :) I am looking forward to sharing this journey with all of you!

~GG

Hi. I am here with a new account (again), to try (again) to lose weight and become healthier. I am married to a wonderful man. We have a very strong willed son that keeps us on our toes.
I believe that I have hit rock bottom (again). It is time to get serious and do something about all this extra baggage.

Hello, I am 510 and weigh 270lbs. I have not been below 200 in over 20 years. I am married with 2 boys 20 and 10. My 20 year old has intellectual disabilities and I am his guardian, while my 10 year old has ADHD and ODD (Oppositional defiant Disorder). Needless to say my life is pretty stressful. I also, have had bad back problems for a couple of years now, so much so that I have a hard time getting around. This past summer I had a total knee replacement in June and emergency back surgery in August. Since then I am actually having more trouble with my back. My goal is to hopefully take off about 95lbs to help with my back and joint problems.

Hi everyone. Just joined the team. I am not new to SparkPeople. I lost more than 70 lbs 8 years ago and have managed to gain it back and more. Decided to start the new year off right and I am actually excited about feeling healthy and energetic again. It has been a month, over 20 lbs down and I am already feeling better. I'm determined to keep it going!!

Look forward to dropping the pounds with you all!

I'm by no means new to sparkpeople or even to weight loss, but here I am, giving it a try again. I have 130 pounds to lose total, my first goal is 50 pounds. I just finished a weight management class and feel more confident that ever before. I may actually have it this time. I plan to focus less on the numbers on the scale and more on how I feel and how my clothes fit. The real challenge will be when I hit that first plateu, that is when I usually give up and balloon back up. Down 2 pounds the first month, that's not much, but all my pants fit better and I had to buy smaller underwear (TMI, I know, but it was exciting!) I look forward to finding support in this group! Here we go!

New to spark but not to weight loss!! I have to lose approx 130 lbs and my challenge is i burn out quick. I start off gung ho and taper off since while my hubby supports me, if I am tempted to fall off the wagon he will not stop me or remind me to stay on path, as he wants me happy. I need accountability and I have a difficult time with that.

Let's try this again! I was on Spark about 10 years ago, with no lasting changes. I am not getting any younger, the time is now to make a change. I am 43, and my goal is to lose 100 lbs within the next year. Such a big goal.

Welcome! I'm sorry to hear about the cellulitis and hope that it clears up quickly. There's nothing worse than forced inactivity because you can't get around.

This doesn't seem to be a very active team, so don't get discouraged if no one else responds. Some teams go in phases of activity, where there is a lot of discussion and posting and then nothing. This one is kind of in a "nothing" period.

Having said that, Welcome to Spark! It's a great site to help you along your weight loss journey. :)

Hi from Melbourne, Australia. I have several serious health issues and getting rid of this fat can only help me. Had lapband surgery on December 13, 2016. Developed cellulitis in my left foot and leg on December 24 :( My exercise is slightly off track for now but not forever!

Here and here to stay until i reach my goal!!!!!

Getting older by the day but i won't, shan't, can not..... get bigger, heavier, fatter, unhealthier.....NO NO NO.

I can't do this on my own, a long road to travel and whilst i will happily plod on.... on some days, perhaps even a few times a day on bad days when the will is waning and the excuse to be lazy or eat or believe the excuse and do something to undermine my progress will rear its head - I will need YOU to share your good days, your bad days and the support to shake off the rubbish and help me, help us all to achieve our goals for whatever reason we have.

I'll be there for you - can i count on you? Knowing SP and the friends i've made previously on here I think I can. xxx

Hello, I'm new, well I'm new again. I'm starting over again and I can't tell you how many times I've started over, but I have to do this! I'm miserable! I need to lose 120 pounds and it was just around 6 years ago that I lost 90 on this site and I did not keep up the work and gained it all back plus 10 pounds. I need help! Are there any challenges going on in the group right now?

I'm a renew member of sparkpeople...I have left and returned hopefully this time I will have the power to stay with it and make it a lifetime commitment. I have lost 63lbs since I started keeping track. I still have a little more than 100 lbs to loose, I know I can do and do it with the help of tracking on sparkpeople and with the support of others on this team and my managing diabetes team. I'm excited to get this weight off and be healthier than I have been in many years.

I'm new, too! This is day 2 and its a huge struggle for me. I'm 43 and have 140 pounds to lose. It seems so daunting and I have tried so many times and gone to WW, OA, tried Adkins, Sugar Busters, etc. My focus now is health and exercise. I wish all of you in this boat with me the best of luck and hope I can help you on your journey as well.

New here! Just downloaded Spark the other day. I've been logging food, eating mostly whole foods & exercising every day, down exactly 11# as of yesterday! I've tried to lose weight in the past, but this time feels different. I have never wanted to go to the gym every day - EVER! Now there are days I want to go a second time during the day.... who does that? Not me - not the OLD me! The new me - anything is possible!! Can't wait to get to know you all!

I think that's a great goal. I also love to do color runs. I've never run an entire one, but I can usually run about 1/2 of it (split up). I had to skip my last one because I was quite sick. Let me know what I can do to help

So, I turned 40 in 2015. I've got over 100 pounds to lose, and I'm very nervous about the whole thing.

Truth is, if I don't make a change immediately then I'm going to be on blood pressure medication within a month. So, this is my motivation.

Wish me luck all, thanks for having me along for the ride!

Hello everyone. I am 42 year old college student with 2 boys(17&19). I am not new to spark but I am new to this group. I have used Spark in the past it worked really well for me but life got crazy and I feel off the wagon so to speak. I am back this time with support of family and friends. I love to hike, walk on the tredmill while listening to my favorite music, and anything to do with being in a pool, yes I love to swim laps. I have to goals first I want to complete a couch to 5k program so I can do a color run at the end of the summer. The second is to reach my goal weight so when I graduate in May of 2017 I wont have to special order my gown. I need lots of help and support and I can give the same support to anyone needing it. Looking forward to reading everyones stories.

Hello fellow Sparkers! I'm a married 46 year old mother of three daughters and, in a couple months, will be a grandmother! I'm very excited about that. I've been on SparkPeople for several years, and it's been a roller coaster! After losing and gaining over the years, I reached my highest weight ever and decided enough is enough! I'm 5'6" and I started at 305 lbs about six months ago. I am currently at 235. I still have 85 lbs to go. I live in the Pacific NW and work for a local college. My current fitness plan includes walking 10,000+ steps per day (I use a Fitbit to track steps) and water aerobics 3x per week. I like variety in my exercise program, so I've been looking into other options. I think I'm going to try Crossfit but I'm a little intimidated when it comes to trying new things so I've been putting it off. I feel like I need to step it up, so I am going to just do it.

Being on Spark for many years, a lot of people come and go. I could use some friends to help support me on my journey as well as folks for me to support as well. I've reached my goal, failed at maintaining and gained it all back, and I've been trying to find my groove and get back into it ever since. I think I've found it this time. Here's to NEVER giving up!

I am almost 42 - I believe I am technically about 140 pounds over what I am "supposed" to weigh. However, I am only aiming to lose a 110.

I don't have a wonderful, supportive, awesome, incredible spouse/partner/significant other. Other than a teenage son, I don't actually have any family or friends where I currently live.

I do have an odd schedule and that makes keeping up with friends a little difficult - unless they are of the online variety.

I don't have any amazing dedication to a supreme weight loss plan.

I will confess that I am not the rah rah go-get-em cheerleader type.

I do have an incredible amount of inner strength that I tend to forget exists.

I will do this for and by myself, but would certainly appreciate a little support along the way.

I'm going to be 45 next month, have three kids and a wonderful spouse. I have about 135 pounds to lose ( I am at 291 pounds now). I just started trying to follow the exercise plan in a great book I found. I have lost almost 5 pounds in three weeks. I also have a goal of being able to run the Disney 10K in Orlando in January 2017. My problem is that when I run I get pain sometimes in my knees and ankles. I actually fell this past March on some ice and broke my left ankle and that has taken a lot to recover from. I still get pain in that ankle. I am not sure how to approach the couch to 5k program while I am so over my goal weight. I also have a problem with eating in the middle of the night. Its not usually bad food for me, but often it wrecks my whole days' work of watching what I am eating as I have been logging my food for about 21 days now. If anyone has any advice, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks and good luck to all!
Kim

Hello Spark World!! This is my third day here so I am still getting a feel for the place. I have a long journey ahead of me and it is one that I am ready to make. I feel good about where I am going and am actually looking forward to what awaits. I also hope to make some new friends here as well. So hello to all my new buddies, nice to meet you. :)

Hi, I'm new here. I have lost and gained 120 pounds twice before in my life. This time I'm hoping I can lose 125 pounds and keep it off forever! I'm hoping that this time it will stay gone because my motivation has changed from wanting to look good to wanting to be healthy and to set a good example for a healthy lifestyle to my family. I'm hoping that with all of your support and my hard work I will accomplish my goal! emoticon emoticon

You can't lose weight by talking about it, you have to shut your mouth.

Hi everyone! This is very difficult for me because I have pretty bad social anxiety and talking in a group, even online, makes me panic. But I need to do something to get my weight down. I am 47 and at my highest weight ever... a little over 300 pounds. I have been heavy most of my life, but this past year has been extremely hard on me and I have gained so much that my health is now suffering.

Any help or advice would be appreciated. :)

Hi everyone. My name is Kris, I'll be 43 on 9/16. I have a husband, 3 grown children and 2 furbabies. I've spent my life taking care of everyone else, and it's time to take care of me. I have a little over 100 lbs. to lose. Could use some friends to keep me company on this long journey.

Hi Everyone!
I am encouraged looking over this thread of messages. I am new to SparkPeople but certainly not new to weight loss. I recently have lost just over 50 pounds using various methods and spending a lot of $$$ on programs that didn't quite work out for me or my wallet. My new journey began this week after returning from vacation (and losing 3 pounds while I was away) I decided to search for an affordable food tracking program and found SparkPeople. Much to my surprise it was FREE! Woohoo! I am so very excited to be here and to be a part of this active community. I still have quite a ways to go on this journey but I'm taking it one day and one step at a time. I look forward to encouraging others and receiving support and encouragement on my endeavors. Wishing you all the best.

Hi, I'm new to sparkpeople again after several years away. I have 100+lbs to lose, but I am very motivated and have been doing well staying on track. The weight is not coming off as fast as I'd like, but I'm hoping since I haven't worked out in God knows how long that I'm actually building some muscle back. Time will tell. I'm in it to win it! :D

Whether you believe you can or you can't, you are right.

Hello my name is Sherri-Ann or SA for short. I just recently started with Spark People and have had an up and down journey for the last five years. I had worked really hard and taken off over 100 lbs, then in 2011 I had a life threatening accident that changed my life, I lost a good part of my mobility during the long recovery and contributed to my regaining of the weight.

I had just started working on this again and discovered I am now diabetic so this journey is no longer an option for me, it's kind of scary. I hope to get to know some of you and find some mutual support in this process as I know it can be really tough to stay focused.

Cheers
SA

Hi Lori & Welcome! Congratulations on clearing that hurdle! I think that's what I love most about this community - it reminds us that we can choose to break the old habits and helps us find support to do so!
This doesn't seem to be a very active forum - except for the wall post feed, I haven't seen much going on here. What is your exercise of choice?
