Well, I have been walking every day for 35-45 minutes on a treadmill. I have also been marking a big X on my calendar to show that is a day that I have been exercising. I have seen my pedometer get up to close to 8,000, but I haven't been wearing it this past week. My main goal has been to get to the gym and just walk. How is everyone else doing? Any challenges this month?

Baby steps as mentioned earlier, set small goals for yourself that are obtainable, then when you do reach your goals it is positive!
Good friends are like stars.. you don't always see them, but they are always there!!
If you want to loose the weight, take the time to learn how. Once you figure that out, the rest comes easy!! Stick with a plan, and keep changing your goals.

Writing everything you eat and do, also helps to keep you focus in what is important your health and well being. Good that you´ve been walking, baby steps and you´ll see results. Keep it up!! Have a wonderful weekend! Breath! Enjoy!

Thank you for the response. I have been doing a very good job of walking everyday. I don't always wear my pedometer because sometimes when I sit it pinches in the wrong spot. But, for a few days I got as high as 7595! I was pretty excited, but I get frustrated because I wonder how much is steps vs. hitting, bumping etc. I haven't let that deter me though. I am proud to say that I have spent the last five days walking at the park and on the gym treamill. I started at fifteen minutes, moved onto thirty and now forty-five. The biggest deal is that I have had the week from hell and normally I would have let my stress get in the way and just eat. Now I have been walking or going to the gym to escape. I think the cooler weather here helps a lot and I have felt good being in nature, as it is. I am still working on my goal and seeing small ounces, pounds fall away each day. I am also really trying to eat better. I would love to hear from more people on the site. Your response is what made me take a moment from studying to answer and get back on here, so THANKS again!!!

It was nice chatting with you too! I hope you are doing well :)
At the moment, I've reduced my goals to two - staying healthy and improving my running skill. I'm trying to pay less attention to the plateau that I'm at and more attention to what I want to do with my newfound good health :)

I just wanted to take a moment to send a special thanks to a few people... Denise.PG, Maddy 211, MSDELISLE, MQ24U2, ZLWIDOW, NANDINI/PATTI, WYOKATHERINE, and ITALIANTRACI.
Your comments were SO helpful and appreciated at a time when I really needed a friend. I spent the weekend doing a little mental health cleaning and I think I can begin new today. I feel more focused and on track with what I need to do and I have started quite a few changes to help me get started. Lots of water and a pedometer and a good plan for eating today. ZLWIDOW, I think I met you earlier in the year when I was starting out on the plan. How are you doing with your goals? Sorry I lost contact. I feel as though I fell off the face of the earth. Also, thank you for the personal messages. Sometimes you don't know how such a small effort can make such a HUGE difference for someone in need. Well, I guess we would know from this standpoint, wouldn't we? I just want to get on track and see results. I am hoping that we can be a strong supportive group that does a lot of checking in and challenges. I hope to get to know you all and look forward to this journey and making new friends. Thank you all!

I too joined some time ago but I am back and it takes one step at a time. Sparks has shown me I need to do one small thing at a time to change my old habits and it is worth it. I know it will get easier and it's true there is a lot of support here. We all have ups and downs your at the right place.

Desperate, There is much support and encouragement here. Take advantage of it. Post here as often as you can and, as someone mentioned earlier, watch your points add up. I just completed a month with SP and I can already see improvement. I've joined a few of the teams and challenges and look forward to posting every day. Good luck and enjoy the great gift you are giving yourself by becoming healthy.

Hi there, desperate!! Hopefully with some help from SP, you'll be able to change your name soon ;)
I TOTALLY know what you mean about the people who want to lose weight and then do something totally counterproductive to their goals... People have this mindset that they can't seem to shake, and it took me years to shake it myself. But I'm SO glad to be serious about my weight and health - I feel like I know the "secret" ;)
So yeah... hang in there! You can do anything you set your mind to :)

Thank you so much for the responses! I actually grabbed my pedometer this morning and I am making a tracking sheet to start fresh (it has been awhile!) I am so looking forward to getting support from great people who know what it feels like to struggle with weight problems. Are there any challenges this month? I guess I should go back and read the board...I look forward to talking with everyone and staying on track. Thanks for the encouragement! I need all the help I can get to stay focused...

I have met so many wonderful people here on spark that have really helped me gain control over my eating. Maybe you are being to striked in your plans and that is why you have trouble staying on it. It is fine to go out to lunch or dinner and stay on program. Please let us know exactly what isn't working for you so we can help. You are on this team so I suspect you have a pedometer. What is your average steps for a day?

welcome to the group, and you have support, your first step worked, now my advice is post as often as you can, find all the boards that follow your interests, and goals, get in as many points a day as you possibly can. That is what keeps me motivated, to work the program, post, points, lifestyle change (hate the word diet... ) exercise, they all work, as long as you work it. Cat

I joined spark people quite some time ago and life has gotten in the way of my goals!!! I have gained weight and I am more miserable than before!!! I would like to know if anyone feels like reaching out and offering support to someone who is desperately trying to get back on track! I am tired of reaching out to people who talk about losing weight and then go out to LUNCH! I want to interact with serious people who are working to meet their goals!
